Sophia "Essie" Contis

She's lived a bit of a sheltered life but is by no means naive just a little shy around strangers. She's very outdoorsy and loves to be outside no matter the weather. Fun-loving, she isn't angered easily but she's by no means a pushover.

Essie is as much of nature-loving tree-hugger as she is an entertainer. She loves singing and performing as much as she loves hiking and gardening. She's an extreme coffee addict and tends to be grouchy until she has had at least two cups in the morning. When angered she tends to retaliate with words and vegetation rather her fists.

[attr="class","appcontent2"]Erato, one of the more famous wood nymphs, also known as dryads, of Greek mythology, is one of the oldest nymphs that arrived in Harper Valley while the portal was still open. In her numerous centuries of life, she gave birth to three famous sons as well as many other children with a number of various lovers. Her youngest child, a daughter she named Sophia, was born in 1864 in Harper Valley fathered by a mortal named Michael Contis. He was killed shortly after she turned thirteen. While she was there and witnessed it, she doesn't remember who did it or what happened.

For the longest time, that event had traumatized her but one of her siblings finally got her to come out of her cell. She very slowly, but surely, returned to her fun-loving self. She even stopped hiding out in the woods around her home. Still rather shy and cautious around strangers, she soon found out she was most comfortable on stage, singing than actually talking to them. Soon enough she was even dating. That was where things ended for her. She soon found she had horrible luck with guys. They either died or left her, and she couldn't figure out why.

By the fifties, she almost gave up on the possibility of love. Then she met a friend of her mother's, a magi with the magical ability to grant luck to someone. It didn't really work out the way Sophia thought it would. Her luck seemed to get worse with everything she did. Then she met Ethon, a human, a little over five decades later. They seemed to click and Sophia truly liked him. She even fell for him. Eventually, they got married much to her mother's distaste. Sophia was truly happy however, so Erato didn't complain. Sophia's happiness was short-lived.

Only married for two years, she realized he didn't really love her. When she confronted him on the fact he was lying to her, he confessed to everything including the fact he only married her because she pretty and he stupidly hoped she had the ability to make him immortal since she was immortal herself. Realizing her powers didn't work like that, he started searching for other ways to achieve his goals, but he refused to let go of Sophia. He enjoyed the jealousy and attention that came with being her husband. To make sure he could keep all that and still pursue his quest for immortality, he threatened to expose her and her mother as nymphs if she ever left.

Soon as the supernaturals were outed, she left him without a care tired of his bullshit. Now two years divorced, Sophia is now focusing on her singing career, doing covers as well as performing her own songs, under the name Essie which had always been her preferred nickname. Though she will always call Harper Valley home and always goes back, she does travel a lot for both gigs and just a change in atmosphere.
