Thanks to a group of extremists the supernatural creatures of our nightmares no longer have the ability to remain there; they are now out in the open and have become the new and scary reality. Within the last 3 years they have tried to integrate all the while mortals are trying to learn more about these creatures that have been shaping our world for longer than we can imagine. With this knowledge we follow the stories of four locations where the situation of supernaturals varies just as much as the areas themselves do.
While the rest of the world is coming to terms with the supernatural coming out in the open, New Orleans has served as a mecca for the bizarre, sinister, and the downright dangerous for over 100 years. The city is overrun by demons, fae, magi, and particularly mischievous supernatural and it has never been hidden from the mortal inhabitants. Though one thing has been kept hidden from them and it is decades long battle between New Orleans very own Voodoo Queen‒a magi in the area‒ with a group of students under her instruction, and the four demons trying to take over. The demons, having taught Magis their magic, believed that they own much of the rewards Magis have reaped because of their magic and wanted to collect on it. The four demons‒each pure blooded and graced with a different one of the main abilities‒formed a camaraderie between then despite their different outlooks and formed a following. War waged between the two groups, the Voodoo Queen refusing to relinquish her power over her territory while the demons wouldn't back down, demons and voodoo wielding magi alike began to disappear no matter their affiliation until one demon decided she had had enough. The one gifted with powers of the mind stepped for and negotiated a treaty, essentially splitting New Orleans in two. Though the tension remained the city was peaceful for awhile.
However, in recent times, the Voodoo Queen has decided to take back her territory and has found a way to kidnap demons for her to study. This has not gone unnoticed by the four demons, they watch and wait so evidence of her wrongdoing against the treaty. Some of the members wish to renegotiate while others are out for blood but none of them know exactly what the Voodoo Queen has planned for their ultimate demise.
Since the revealing of the supernatural world to the public the city that never sleeps has been in the grips of a war of rights between humans and supernaturals. While one supernatural group - a long standing coven of Magi - takes their chances with forming an alliance with the human officials of the city the other - a family of wolves descended from an Original with their Original monarch as alpha - is preparing for war to take control of it all! The other species are either trying to focus on their own or struggling to keep the peace and the secret of their own existence from the humans against the active rights movement for the 'unnatural' beings (as humans often call them). The Sentella, a newly developed government branch centered around 'unnatural' affairs that is currently based in Brooklyn, have taken it upon themselves to keep the Vampires and other supernatural beings from taking complete control and advantage of humans. The Shapeshifters are equally fearful but choose to remain out of the cross fire unless they feel their land and their people are in danger.
Currently Ivory Towers Stock - founded and actively run by the Original Cheetah Werecat - stands as the 'face of the supernatural community' alongside the witch covens and is the driving force behind any steps made towards getting the word out there. Because of their influence delved deep within the American government long before the reveal of the supernatural community the multi-million corporation is on the edge of success but unknowingly the risk of failure and possible demise is just a few blocks away in whats known as the Bronx.
Drake Bellatorem Charlemagne and his pack of misfits, including his sister, have just arrived to New York with the intent to rule. Their arrival wasn't silent nor was it pretty as human numbers have began to decrease within the last few months and werewolf numbers the opposite. Now the humans are panicking, giving Ivory Towers Stocks and Magi more on their plate.
To most mortals it is considered Sin City, the home of nefarious activities that don't follow you back home, but what they are unaware of is the much darker side of Las Vegas that takes place under the cover of night. Unbeknownst to the tourists that visit the city for fun filled nights, Las Vegas is entirely run by the one species that has both terrorized and hypnotize us since the dawn of their existance; Vampires. Currently the underground world of Vegas is run by one of the vampire Originals progenitors who is known to all as a Vampire Ambassador, Gina Pryor , who also runs the supernatural black market and is known for being the power behind Las Vegas and what it is today.
The Market was widely known for selling, promoting, and housing anything illegal whether it be human or supernatural related but within the last 50 years the Market has become a major hot spot for any supernatural species and is magically hidden from mortal eyes. While The Market can now be considered a safe haven for supernaturals from the humans and now provides many legit businesses to the supernatural community that doesn't necessarily mean that the supernatural are protected from their own. Unprotected 'supe's' have been known to go missing, often times taken for their services, blood, or their venom, unless willingly offered but such cases are rare. Most unfortunate souls end up as donors, servants, or even a combatant who must fight their way to freedom in one of the many underground, illegal Arena's still in use through out the city. The world outside the Market isn't that much safer however.
With the Human Rights Act of 2013 humans in the United States are fully protected and compensated from the wrath of supernaturals, giving them the right to defend themselves against a non-human attacker at all costs without penalty from the government, but unfortunately in Las Vegas that isn't the case and humans are oftentimes still taken from the busy casino streets and never seen again. Las Vegas isn't a city to trust easily and the people, human and supernatural alike, are at the heart of it. Greedy politicians are being bought to divert their eyes in the other direction by the power behind it all, Gina, with the help of vampires and supporters through out the city. Despite most of the city's income coming from the human tourists that flood in yearly, Vampires have free reign over the city, claiming a sense of ownership over the city of sin and in Gina's eyes rightfully so.
With the rumors of human and blood trafficking reaching an all time high there is a group rising up against it in return. The Resistance, an organization originally formed by the Werecreatures of the city to rebel against the Were Arenas before they were shut down and eventually re-opened as a legitimate business under the Resistance's control, recently began increasing their numbers and have been populated by other species including human as other issues began to surface in the community. The Scarlet Council has recently discovered the trafficking of Magi blood in the black market and has decided to take action along with a group of Vampire-Human Hybrids who have been used by Vampires for their blood for decades.
A recent rumor of mass manufacturing of silver weapons and amour fitted against supernaturals has surfaced but no concrete evidence has been found at this time. Many speculate the recent increase in silver transporting and manufacturing is connected with Vampire Ambassador while others suspect they're planning to be put to use in the remaining Were Arena's held underground.
A small and once forgotten town in the state of North Carolina, Harper Valley has quite the history. War, rivalries, and bloodshed are only a few of the things associated with the mysterious town but those only scratch the surface. The town of Harper Valley as we know it was founded in 1620 by Jonathan Harper, along with his family, close friends, and the remaining supernaturals that were already residing there. Technically the land has been settled by the many supernaturals that remained there after the portal was closed in the mid 11th century and most supernaturals claim ownership over both the town and the mountains themselves. Unbeknownst to the humans who had later joined the mountains located just a mile north from the town were not only beautiful, but also held an ancient secret. Powerful amounts of energy consumes the land and mountains themselves, making the area a 'hotspot' for supernatural; and more importantly for the Magi seeking power from it. Thousands have tried to harness the mountains enormous power but only one group of people succeeded -and Indian tribe-, and in the process opened a portal to another world. Shortly after the portal's opening creatures began to emerge and enter our world. Most were refugee's seeking a better life while others had more devious motives.
Although an Indian tribe, the Tonkawa -who resided in the area in the 9th and 10th century and was originally responsible for protecting the magical energy within the mountains themselves, also knowing its power could be used for great or terrible things- eventually became corrupted and ultimately closed the entrance to the heart of the mountains; the source and most powerful part of the mountains. Even to the beings who had crossed through the portal. Because of the enormous amount of power surrounding the mountains the land was known to attract all kinds of species, on both sides of the portal doorway and fear of the potential harm from their actions pushed them to seal it away forever. This enraged the beings who were not native to this world, now forbidden to return home, and eventually because of this Tonkawa tribe was driven out.
Now with the beings trapped in our world they had no choice but to settle. As other Indian tribes came and went the supernatural remained and for a time was content with the separation from human beings. When the Europeans began claiming ownership of the lands they were not aware of the beings that were already there though many were familiar from their European counterparts. For years the humans and supernaturals fought for territory until the humans became aware of the dangers that surrounded them and although at first they disproved of anything non-human on the land they now called home, eventually a peace treaty was formed. As long as there was peace among the people anyone - human or not - could call Harper Valley their home. Territories were divided amongst the various groups and a local form of government was formed to ensure that every species in the town was protected and taken care of equality.
For 150 years the town was peaceful and everyone thrived because of it. In the winter of 1777 a string of unsolved murders with unusual circumstances started to plague the town and although people outside of Harper Valley would have blamed it on the war the residents could see the difference. Others also claimed the supernatural were trying to take over the town and claim it as theirs once again, returning it to the state it was before human influence, but there is no solid evidence supporting the claims even to this day. In the end the human townspeople revolted out of fear against those they blamed and ultimately a war broke out, resulting in what most call Bloody Sunday. After an all day battle between humans and the supernatural was over the town was in turmoil and would never be the same again. No one knows exactly who won the battle, but everyone knew that no one won the war. With death and destruction the demise of Harper Valley followed; Most humans left their homes and businesses to escape the fighting while others simply perished during the battle. Empty homes and streets now filled the town and any sign of the once beautiful place thriving again was far from sight. However some humans did stay and managed to survive with little resources but were fiercely discriminated against the surviving supernatural population.
Once again the town was a sanctuary for the unknown, the unwanted, or the unnatural with the human population becoming the minority and dwindling each day and was so for the next 237 years. The Royal families of the various Fae species took hold of the town once more. Recently however due to the isolation the humans through out time have forgotten about the supernatural history and more recently have started to embrace the unnatural more than fear it. Within the last two decades the human population has boomed in the shape of tourists and sightseers, bringing new prospects to the town. Though some supernaturals fear history repeating itself most are willing to look the other way for fear of their town going broke without the attention it longed for. Those who do remember the truth fear the non-human beings while some even take it upon themselves to hunt these creatures. With the treaty no longer valid and able to protect any who wish to call Harper Valley home, humans must now rely on gaining the supernaturals trust if they wish to survive and possibly reinstate peace once again.
