Samantha and her family would currently be walking in Times Square, taking in the sights. Sam, however, was more busy reading a well owned copy of Hamlet, somewhere in the second act when they had begun traversing the busy area. Reading the play would all but drown out the sounds of the city; cars, voices, and sirens barely heard as she reads. After she finishes the third act, the young Phoenix would close her book and look up at her parents, clearing her throat. "Can I go off on my own for a bit? You know I can handle myself, so you won't need to worry about me..." she says to them. Her parents stop and, after some debate with their teenager, are convinced to let her go into the city in her own provided she remembers to call they if she needs picked up. With a quick nod, Samantha would run off, rushing past them and going to explore more than what her parents wanted her to. She would head out of Times Square, heading into the surrounding areas as she keeps looking for a particular location. She'd eventually turn one or two too many corners and before she knew it, the girl would be lost in the city. With an irritated huff, Samantha pulls her phone from her brown backpack and goes to dial her mother's number, still walking along when a pair of large hands grabs her small arm and yanks her suddenly into the alley to her right. She cries out in surprise and stumbles, trying to catch her balance as she bumps into a taller, older man. She looks up and notices his face before she starts to step backwards, shoving her phone back into her back. "Looks like a lost little girl... I think we could help her, couldn't we?" He says, a grin on his face. Sam would start to shake and toss her backpack under a dumpster and take a defensive stance, ready to take on the men, but sure she might not win the fight. The one who threw her would come up from behind and she ducks out of his grappling, using her small size to her advantage and drawing her hand back, Palm flat. She lets her blow loose as he turns to go at her again, aiming for his right shoulder. The blow would connect, making him stumble back and be actually quite surprised at her. She moves back again and watches them as the come at her at the same time. 'I just had to go out on my own...' she thinks, annoyed with herself. Words:438 Tags: @delvinlion Outfit

New York City was not the place you wanted to get lost in especially after all the supernaturals that had moved in over the years. Vampires, Werewolves, Magi, and others were set up all over the place now course humans were a threat too in certain areas like Queens. No one really had any idea that dragons existed though besides the Scarlet Order which was good for him and bad for anyone who dared cross him in the wrong way. The city was always busy and rather volatile at times another good reason not to wander off alone really if you happened to be a tourist around here. Thankfully he was not a tourist anymore he'd been living here for a good while now and never really got lost. It happened to be one of his days off today and not having any work he decided to let himself wander around the city for now until something caught his fancy and sadly nothing had yet. After a decent breakfast and cleaning himself up he was out the front door of his apartment studio hoodie on and skateboard in hand his earplugs in as he listened to his mp3 player as he skateboarded along the sidewalks now weaving in and out of people now some beef jerky in his mouth now and rocked out a little now. Maybe he'd hit the music store he thought purchase some more albums again to freshen his playlist a little more now. It was then he spotted a young looking girl and stopped she seemed so unaware of the danger to her now as two men closed in on her now. he wanted to call out to her now get her attention or at least scare off her would-be kidnappers but the traffic had picked up a bit now and was too loud. Frowning he kicked up his skateboard and ran into an alleyway now opposite the one the girl was taken into now and dropping his stuff there he then grew out his wings and took flight high into the air where he wouldn't be noticed before flying across the street to the rooftops of the building overlooking the girl and two men now. She seemed to be fighting back but wouldn't fare well against them much longer and decided to glide down until he could land and perch on one of the railings of the stairwells that lined most buildings from the ground to the rooftops and made his wings vanish again now. "Now now gentlemen is this any way to treat a lady?" Delvin would ask perched there like Spiderman from the comics might be before jumping down. "If you go now I wont report you to the cops but if you insist well I could use the workout it'll be fun really," Delvin said now and smiled sheepishly at the two hopefully they were smarter than they looked and would split now. "Go ahead and use the knife you probably have on you scum like you two usually carry them so see what happens?" Delvin added after using his heat vision he could tell they were only humans but looking at the girl she was something he'd never seen before really he didn't know what her species was really.

Samantha would keep her stance as the men come to get her, though a male voice interrupts everyone's thoughts. All three look up to the man who was perched atop the fire escape. 'Oh look, my knight in shining armor...' she thinks, frowning a bit, but glad he had come to help her anyway. She watches him hop down and continue speaking to the two that had tried kidnapping her. They'd look from him to her, grumbling before the freakishly tall one goes and grabs his companion, dragging him alone as they go past Sam, glaring at her as they do so. She watches them go, moving over to grab her bag once she was sure they were gone. She gets on her knees and looks under the dumpster, grabbing a strap and yanking it out. She looks it over, glad it wasn't covered in trash or anything and slides it back on her back. Once she gets back up, she dusts herself off and looks to her savior, her expression a little wary as she draws a little closer to him. "Thank you for the help back there, I don't know how I would've done it otherwise. Serves me right for getting lost." she laughs, wincing at the action as her head starts to throb more. Sam would sigh and rub her temples, closing her eyes momentarily as she tries to get rid of the headache. 'This isn't good... Why am I getting these headaches?'' she thinks, opening her eyes to look at the man again. 'Not to mention having him and the loudness of traffic to deal with... This just isn't good at all.' With another sigh, this one irritated, she pulls her bag off her shoulder and opens it, pulling a bottle of water and a pill bottle out of it. She'd open the pills and pop out three of them, the dose she had upped it to when her headaches started to get unbearable. She'd close the pills back up and take the ones she had pulled out, taking a drink of water to make them go down better before closing it and putting it all back in her bag. She puts it once more on her back and her eyes would've stayed on him. "Listen, uh...I can just wait until my parents get here; I can call them to come pick me up since I' m so hopelessly lost." she says, giving a weak smile to the man as her headache keeps throbbing on, her head feeling like it's home to a loud club event rather than her sensitive brain. Delvin would frown at the two men now they really were scumbags trying to kidnap and from what it seemed like potentially molest this teenage girl. Really what kind of sick human being got off to crimes like this what were they thinking really. It seemed about time for round two now until he dropped down and then announced him to the two men and girl now a sheepish smile on his face now. The girl hardly seemed amused by his antics now but did seem a little grateful for the distraction probably in hopes they would focus on him which they did thankfully. They seemed to debate his threat and challenge now before the wiser of the two grabbed his friend and grumbling a bit the two were off now giving up on their ruined fun now. He'd smile sheepishly at the two's retreating figures now he pegged the two as cowards then really and looked back to see the girl move to fetch her thrown bag now which seemed to have landed under a nearby dumpster now and retrieved it easily enough before seeming to focus again as he scratches his chin a little and smiled a little at that as she approached him now and gave her a curtsy bow now. "It was nothing really just doing my good samaritan duty for the day. I can understand getting lose even the people who live here get lost easily sometimes this is a big city after all," Delvin replied raising a curious brow as she seemed to rub a bit at her temples and forehead now. She seemed a little sickly all of a sudden potentially a headache which seemed rather sudden too. He watched as she then fetched some medicine and water now taking a little of both before putting them away again. "it'd be safer for you to stay with me until they come get you so we can wait for them across the street at that little bookstore I passed. That and you look like you need to sit down for a little bit because of your headache," Delvin replied running a hand through his hair now messing it up a little bit now. He really didn't need for her to get in trouble or lost again right after he let her out of his sights. "Come on then I insist," Delvin said as he moved to head out to the street now and then once she was with him would cross to the other side where he would fetch his own things now. "What are you by the way? I know most species by scent now but your scent is different something I haven't encountered before," Delvin asked and then said now as he looked back to her leading her to the bookstore now. Of course that would probably raise her own suspicions about him now but he had no qualms really about telling her what he was now who else would believe her anyways if he did?

Samantha would catch a bit of his words as she rubs her temples and, after taking her medicine, she'd laugh a bit. "Don't I know it? Small town girl plus big city is not a workable pair." Sam days with a smile, stretches her body to get rid of some of her tension.[break][break] Sam would continue listening as she usually does and she perks up a bit at the mention of a bookstore. 'Well... I suppose he is right... I could end up lost again and I really don't want that.' she thinks, going then speak to him. "A bookstore? You have my attention." She laughs, going to follow him to the bookstore. As they made their way to the bookstore, she'd look at him again as he speaks. 'What are you... I...' her thoughts would trail off and a deep frown crosses her features. "What are you talking about I'm human...Honestly..." Samantha says, her frowning expression now turning to one of confusion."And how are able to smell me that well, even if it is wrong."[break][break] Samantha was not enjoying it right now. How could he think she wasn't human? 'What about those flames, Sam? Those flames that could've saved Eric if you had only acted faster...' Her mind goes into hyper drive and her fingers twitch at her sides slightly, tiny, blue sparks starting at her rise in emotion. 'You could've saved him and you didn't!' She crosses her arms over her chest and clenched her hands into fists to try and get herself to calm down at the man's simple question.

"Yeah probably something like that I guess it makes sense. I wasn't really born here I was born in London England came here when I got a new job really," Delvin simply replied smiling sheepishly at her in return now. She looked rather short and young her maturity seemed to suggest she was teenager but it was hard to tell really and he didn't want to insult her by asking her age women tended to be rather sore about least human ones anyways. Then again she wasn't human was she? When it came to Supernaturals he had made that mistake in the beginning when first becoming a dragon like he had. As a shifter he had never really smelt the scent of other supernaturals before only his Magi Father and Shifter Mother as well as his hybrid siblings. Once he became a Seeker well a wealth of knowledge was opened to him he came to learn about all kinds of Supernaturals mythical or otherwise and by now had the scents of most down pact by course it was more his dragin vision that revealed to him what they really were the scent just helped solidfy the memory for him in his mind now so he'd never forget that species or person ever then. "Oh well I just you don't know then but your not human I know that much from my dragon vision ability. Being a dragon we never forget a scent once we pick it up not that I was um well trying to really do that to you so I apologize," Delvin replied shooting her a sympathetic look now. The question before though seemed to make her confused and noticed as her fingers seemed to light up now almost like flames as she then clenched her hands tight now to hide it from him. "Look I'm sorry i brought it okay no need to get worked up now. How about that bookstore huh you seem to like books right. Maybe you can show me a few goods ones to read," Delvin replied trying to calm her down and distract her from whatever was happening right now to her. He would curse himself as well he hadn't really meant to upset her like he had now.

'...Volatile.... She's too volatile, Raeden. I'm sorry, but I have to terminate her. She isn't made.... Too angry...' A voice would sound in her head, one she had heard in her dreams before, countless times. She knew that old, powerful voice, but just how did she know it? How, indeed... Sam would return to reality as the man before her, now known as a Dragon, would seem to start to calm her down at the mention of books. "Right, I love books... books are nice." she mutters, closing her eyes momentarily as her mind starts to calm finally. 'Books, music... just that, Sam, just that...'[break][break] At that final calming thought, Samantha opens her eyes, her already unstable mind once again calm... for now. "Let's go before my mind starts to act up again...Sorry if I scared you there," she starts, increasing her arms to show him her hands. "This fire thing keeps happening whenever I get upset or... or think about my brother... Wish it would stop happening..." With a sigh, Samantha would keep walking with him, heading to the store quickly and not wanting to scare him anymore, if that's what she did. [break][break] "Not to mention the weird dreams and non-violent voices in my head... I'm going insane, aren't I?" she mutters.

Delvin wasn't really sure what was going on now really asking her what she was seemed to cause her to freak out now. Something to do with her headaches maybe but without knowing what she was he wasn't really sure how to help her out. All he knew now was that he wanted to calm her down and make her relax and be like she was before. How was he supposed to do that really as he looked to her now and mentioned the books before which seemed to finally calm her down and bring her back to reality her hands returning to normal again. He'd never seen blue flames like that he'd only ever read of the rarest of phoenixes being able to do that but no one really had proof if they existed or not he'd have to ask Mr. Xanatos later if he knew anything about the stories or lore whether they rang true or not. Finally calm she didn't seem too freaked out really about him being a dragon that or she thought he was utterly insane and making up stories to impress her but he'd show her proof if she really wanted him to do so but only in private and not for all to see. "No worries really it was my fault and I apologize," Delvin replied smiling sheepishly and nodded to her now. Then he chuckled a little rubbing the back of his neck a little now. "Me scared? I'm a big boy I'll be alright," he added and shook his head a little with a smile as they arrived at the book store finally and headed inside now looking around just humans thankfully he couldn't stand the smell of Vampires or Reapers when they smelled like death all the time. "If I knew what you was I could get you proper help but I suggest you find some kind of calming technique maybe Yoga or something along those lines I hear it really promotes your health and positive chi more," he replied as he grabbed and picked up a book on medieval dragons now chuckling a little bit as some of the stuff inside now. Humans had quite the imagination here but they weren't too far off if only they really knew what he did right now. Glancing over he spotted a redhead and for a second he thought it was that she-dragon Mariya out to get him again and shook his head a bit realizing it wasn't her. "You and me both probably my dreams aren't exactly normal lately either not since I became a dragon anyways," he replied looking back to her now with a weak smile now.

Samantha would appear to have calmed down, that much is certain. She was precariously calm, however; those thoughts of her brother still lingering in the back of her mind as they arrived at the bookstore. She listens to what he says, nodding at his suggestion. 'I need something to calm me down... breathing exercises are not always going to help, and when they stop working... someone is going to get hurt by these flames.' she thinks, looking over the huge amount of books in the store, feeling at home. "I'll have to try that when I get back home, then... Anything that can keep me calm would be greatly appreciated." Samantha would say, grinning before she watches him pick up a book on medieval dragons. "So, is any of that true, I wonder... I mean, you were perched on the fire escape like you flew in or something..." she jokes, grinning at him as she goes to look at some fiction books.[break][break] Samantha would smile at the sight of a couple newer novels and goes to grab the, looking over the backs of them before deciding on whether or not to take them. Meanwhile, she'd also pull out her phone, and text her mother where she was, and that she was lost. While waiting for an answer, Samantha would glance over to the man that saved her, before heading to the register to pay for four books, letting him do as he pleased. When she finished, she'd head back over to him unless he followed, and speaks. "My name's Samantha." she says softly, looking up to him as she speaks.[break][break] Sam's phone would vibrate in her pocket and she'd go to grab it, pulling it out and checking it. A message from her mother would tell her that they were on their way, but they needed to finish their visit to the zoo. 'Typical...' she thinks, sighing. "Apparently they're busy at the zoo right now, so I have all the time in the world..." she says, frowning a bit.

Delvin would smile and nod a little at her now. He often wondered about his own family and how they were doing nowadays. He hadn't really seen his family much other than his father after going off to college and then becoming a dragon. His mother wrote him occasionally about how his brother and sister were both familiars to other Magi now and were always busy training and mentoring their young Magi students. She'd invited him a few times to come to see the family and his siblings for special occasions like birthdays but he usually passed it up nowadays he didn't really feel like seeing them right now when he felt so estranged with his father now and had the problems he did as a dragon after his father made him feed off that dead dragon like he did. He'd simply smile and nodded at the mention of trying his idea later when she returned home with her parents. Yoga wasn't really his thing there was nothing like a good fly through the clouds to relax and be at peace for one feeling so free and liberated then. "Some of it is fairly accurate. Believe it or not Alantis was real and it was sunk by dragons. They were nearly wiped out but they've been brought back now." Delvin replied as he flipped through the book a little more now. Some Dragons did breath fire but they hardly coveted gold that much really and some could breath other elements like he could with air. The only real thing they didn't know was that shifters became dragons and had a main human looking form but they could shift fully into a dragon or partially shift to grow features like wings or razor sharp claws. He hadn't realized he spaced out a little until he heard the girl introduce herself to him and smiled at that. "Delvin Lion at your service. I'm a celebrity photgrahper by day and a dragon by night," he replied chuckling a little speaking like he was some kind of superhero like Spider-Man or Batman now. "Well I'm an open book so feel free to ask whatever you want about me for now?" Delvin replied with a grin running a hand through his hair now.

Sam wasn't too fond of having to wait for her parents, though she supposed that she should've expected that. They had these trips every year, and stayed for nearly a week before going back home; sometimes these trips even happened in the middle of the school year and left her with a ton of homework to do. She'd bring herself from her memories of the past and listen to Delvin as he spoke of Atlantis. It certainly got an eyebrow raise from her. "Atlantis, huh? That's... wow, that's awesome." Samantha says with a laugh. "Sounds like quite the tale, the sinking of that city..."
She'd glance out the window, hoping somehow her parents had come, but no such luck. It wasn't that she didn't want to talk to Delvin, but she'd rather be back in her hotel room and somewhere quiet. As he replied to her questions, she'd nod and think about her own reply before speaking. "Well then! You almost sound like a super hero," she starts, frowning a little before continuing. "Hey; maybe I'm like my brother... I remember him showing me his own abilities once, though his fire was red, and jeez, was there an odd smell when he made it... Ugh, probably not, now that I think about it; no odd smell when those flames happen."
Sam sighs, irritated, and rubs he temples more. 'I have no idea what I am, but I'm certainly no human, that much is clear.' she thinks, looking unhappy again.

There was a time when Delvin was a pretty social creature and had big dreams for himself. Talking to someone was easy for him and everyone usually liked him said he had a good aura about him. Then for the sake of science and helping his father he agreed to become a Dragon for his experiments that were to better the species and cure them of their supposed madness. That day his whole life changed and it was like a part of him was snuffed out like a flame. He'd been getting better and full of life again before his father forced him to eat from another dragon that he had kept in stasis for his experiments. Again the madness returned and so much stronger than it had before it felt like his head was splitting open hearing her voice the queen dragon demanding he free her from her shackles. Then his father abandoned him and he was reassigned to an older and wiser more powerful Magi. The effects of the bond finally seemed to finally calm him and his rage and he got better but he was never the same some days he was just so depressed and angry wanting to kill himself or others. Some days though like this he felt normal for a change and happy again though occasionally he had his dreams about Marina and with it a taste of the madness again. "Sadly I wasn't even alive then wish I could've seen it myself. Only the Scarlet Council knows where it might lie now under the dark depths of the ocean somewhere." Delvin replied and smiled sadly at the thought shoving his hands into his pockets now as he seemed to stare out a window now and for a moment he could see her again looking so sad and holding in her arms. Marina. "Oh yeah all I need is a costume now. Beware criminals Dragon Man is here." he replied chuckling a bit at himself now as he looked back to her now. "Probably so whose to say in the end. I hope you can find the answers soon who knows maybe you already have it could be in one of these mythical beasts books here plenty of lore that might fit like a phoenix maybe," Delvin replied as he looked to his open book on the table now. Had the book told him what he might be facing he wondered if he would've still agreed to this life. There was no going back now though no only death could set him free now but he wasn't quite ready to die yet not until he found her and asked her what this all meant these visions and dreams he had of Marina now.

Sam would perk up at his mention of being Dragon Man, laughing a little before glancing behind her at a mythology section. As he continued on, she'd wonder. 'Some mythical bird, huh?' she thinks, going to grab a book on mythological creatures and looking in the index. "If I'm some kind of mythological fire bird, I make a terrible one; I'm afraid of heights... No matter what I am, I have to learn to control my fire somehow; I can't be spewing these every time my emotions get the better of me...Yoga it is..." she says softly as she reaches the page she found on Phoenixes.
'Mystical birds that, upon death, combust and turn to ashes, rising from them anew...The only way I'd be able to find out if that happens is if I 'die', or...Would my dad know? He found me, after all.' she thinks, frowning more as she closes the book and puts it back. She remembered when her parents first told her they had adopted her after her dad found her in the forest. They never said how she was found, or why a baby would even be there in the first place, but... Samantha would have to ask her parents, though she was a little wary of asking them. 'What if they think I'm some sort of monster? I... I can't lose them too...' With a frustrated sigh, she moves to stand beside Delvin at the window, looking out as cars pass by. "Too bad there's no magical authority on all things supernatural I could just go to and they'd automatically know what I am with... magic, or something." she says, glancing to him. "Wait, what's the Scarlet Council? My magical saviors of all powerful knowledge?" Sam gives a small smile at that, obviously joking with the tone she used saying how they were her saviors.

Delvin would smile sheepishly at the name though the thought of wearing a costume wasn't too appealing to him really. Tight spandex like what Spider-man wore had to really be uncomfortable and a mask had to be hard to breath through really. The thought if anything was amusing at least in the end as he looked back to Samantha now. It was just an idea really he had no idea himself really but it might be a good start. "Well I've never been a fan of heights either before becoming a Dragon. Now it kind of just comes to me naturally and feels as normal as it does for a bird to fly," Delvin replied rubbing the back of his neck a little now. Becoming what he was now taught him a lot about mastering his fears and learning to control his emotions but it came with a price. The madness and the voice of the queen calling out to him really got to him sometimes and pushed him to a breaking point and he faired one day he might not come back from the point and would have to be put down. Some days that seemed really enticing really but he felt there was still so much to do and learn right now and that was enough to keep him going and well so did the thought of seeing her again the mysterious dragon lady. He could never tell any average human what he was they'd think he was crazy or a monster most likely. Honestly he felt like his father was the monster here and treated him like some experiment before abandoning him altogether when it failed. "I'm not magic works like that I'm not sure but I'm sure someone on the council might know for sure," Delvin replied looking out the window as well now. Then came her question of who they were and knew he couldn't tell her too much about them else he be punished most likely. "They're like the most powerful Magi around so they could help you for sure if you really wanted to know what you are. I could speak to my master and see if he can help you out," Delvin replied and smiled looking back at her again now. It felt nice and good helping her out like he was now and making a real difference in someone's life for a change instead of ruining it like he had his own with helping his father out.
