[nospaces] [attr="class","LDtable"] [attr="class","LDmain"] [attr="class","LDcontainer"] [attr="class","LDtriangle"] [attr="class","LDcontent"] Ava stood still beside the hospital bed as she held the round end of the stethoscope to the patients chest. The rhythm had a slight irregularity to it and like clock work could determine when the jump would occur. "Breathe normal now." She said, her eyes squinting from intense concentration. The patient's breathing began to slow to a more natural pace as she requested but the irregularity was still there, if not worse. [break][break] When she had her evaluation she pulled away and wrapped the stethoscope around the back of her neck. She walked around towards the end of the bed and grabbed a tan folder from a metal container attached to the foot of the bed. With a few small edits to the contents inside the folder she slipped it back into it's proper place and walked back to the left side of the bed. [break][break] "You're doing much better but there is still some slight irregularity there. Do you exercise a lot?" She asked with the slight tilt of her head. He managed to open his mouth in response but the commotion outside stopped any words from escaping his lips. Just as her eyes fell onto the doorway a group of doctors and nurses pushed not one, but three bed's through the hospital hallway in a hurry. "I'm sorry, excuse me." Ava said and dashed out of the room, not giving the man enough time to complain. [break][break] A major, and unexplained, accident happened in the French Quarter that resulted in several casualties with only three survivors. As always Ava was among the first on the scene. The room was chaotic but all emergency rooms were. There had already been a few minor emergencies nurses were attending to when the survivors arrived. With the added numbers the room was starting to become a bit cramped, and the few police officers huddled around the door didn't make it much easier. [break][break] "I need morphine over here!" A doctor shouted with a tone of urgency in his voice. Without hesitance she began assisting a doctor in resuscitating one of the survivors. "He's losing too much blood." Ava exclaimed, her hands putting pressure on an open wound on his stomach. Her gloved hands, now drenched in blood, moved from the wound to take a closer look at the gash. The wound stretched from hip to hip in three, long slashes. You could even say they looked like claw marks. [break][break] "Sir. Sir. Can you hear me? I need you to remain conscious." Ava said as she leaned over the man. She needed to find out what happened to them, though she could only assume it was anything but natural. This was pointless. Asked to come to the hospital with the accidents victims to give a full report and then forced to stand around and watch as the doctors attempted to save their lives. It was moment's like these that Zander had the hardest time. He felt anger towards whoever did this to the victims and he felt sadness that they might not survive. But yet there was also a part of him who felt elated at the sight of so much blood, of human deaths and he knew that could only be his demon side. What he really wanted to do was help but instead, he opted to turn his back; out of sight, out of mind. The emergency room was already crowded and the doctors wouldn't be looking for him to give a report for awhile yet so he choose this moment to take a deep breath outside. Hospitals made him feel itchy and he was sure it was because of his conflicting feelings about humans. Once outside, he felt a lot more relaxed. Out here, he could pretend there wasn't turmoil inside.
He actually hadn't even been on the clock when the accident had occurred. He'd been walking home. He told the paramedics at the scene it had been a pack of wild dogs, which wasn't uncommon in the city and they'd accepted it. They just didn't need to know what kind of canine. He had a feeling if these humans survived, their days of peaceful ignorance was over. Because he was a detective, he didn't wear a uniform so when he had called 911 and attempted to stop the bleeding, the paramedics had tried to push him away, until he showed his badge and now here he was, roped into giving a full report. No doubt he'd have to repeat the same report to his lieutenant back at the station later, as well. But for now, he'd give himself a breather and wait till he was needed.

[nospaces] [attr="class","LDtable"] [attr="class","LDmain"] [attr="class","LDcontainer"] [attr="class","LDtriangle"] [attr="class","LDcontent"] There wasn't much she could do other than make him comfortable while still trying to get information out of him. She found herself going back and forth between patients, and even for a veteran nurse, she was becoming overwhelmed. With one death came another until there was only one left. Ava pushed on, determined to save this one and with the help of the doctor and other nurses managed to stable his condition. When her wounds were wrapped in bandages and the pain medication kicked in Ava was sent to retrieve the detective on the scene. [break][break] After asking around she finally found a nurse who had seen him step outside. She hadn't even considered her blood soaked scrubs when stepping outside. "Detective Stirling?" She called out and looked around for someone to respond to the name. "The doctor would like to see you for your statement." She had met dozens of cops during the decade of her residency here, but he stood out the most. It was hard to ignore the fact he was a demon. Goosebumps ran up her arms and her hairs stood on end. Though still, her nervousness wasnt from the fact he was supposed to be her natural born enemy, but because he was irrasistably cute. It was the scent of angel that got his attention first. He peered down at the sidewalk as people hurried on their way. None of them stood out remarkably or was threatening him with a Divine Blade. It wasn't until he heard his name called and he turned, did he find the culprit. One of the nurses that had been helping with the wounded had come out searching for him, her smock still covered in blood and he felt a rise in his body temperature. Blood. Who knew he had a dark demonic side? When their eyes met, he saw her stiffen and the realization come over her face. He froze, waiting to see what she would do. Would she dare leap across the front porch of a hospital, of all things, pull out her Divine Blade and kill him? The doctor would like to see you for your statement. He felt himself relax, if only slightly. She was all business and so was he. This wasn't the time or place for an all out war.
Instead, he flashed her a smile and made his way towards her. "Anything that can help." he said, opening the door opposite of her to go through. He didn't plan on standing close enough to her to make her feel the need to stab him. "Did, uh, any of them make it?" He asked her. Less concerned about the wounded themselves, he was more concerned with if they had survived because then he'd have a rampaging werewolf in the city and he wasn't looking to take control of that. After all, there wasn't a set pack here in this city and loners didn't normally want to take on a newly bitten for fear of having themselves thrown in the spotlight. He'd have to take care of it himself.

[nospaces] [attr="class","LDtable"] [attr="class","LDmain"] [attr="class","LDcontainer"] [attr="class","LDtriangle"] [attr="class","LDcontent"] Although his question technically could be excepted considering his profession, but to Ava she was a bit surprised of his concern. Though it didn't sound like he cared for the survivor personally, it was hard for Ava to ignore the fact she was actually impressed by the demon. She hadn't expected a demon to care about a humans well-being, let alone be the one to rescue her in the first place. This would be a first she knew her angelic parents would never believe. In light of the situation Ava remained somber but for a brief moment a small smile crept up onto her face at the thought of his genuine concern. "The woman. She's in stable condition, but her wounds still look really bad. It's going to take a good amount of surgery and therapy before she can fully recover." She paused, having followed him inside but stopped beside him, a look of confusion apparent on her face. [break][break] "Can I ask you something, and you tell me the truth? I know it may be a bit hard for your kind but you look like a guy who can manage." She cleared her throat before proceeding, lowering her voice so only he could hear. "They're going to ask you what exactly happened and I already know the story you're going to tell them; but tell me, what really attacked those innocent people? The gashes and bite marks look canine but domestic dogs don't cause that kind of damage, and wild wolves never venture this far into town. The cars and crowds of people would scare it off the moment it reached the city limits. No, this was intelligent. Intentional even. Was this supposed to be a threat or a sign from someone? A new pack in town, maybe? Because they certainly made a statement with this one. Here soon the media will be here and I'm sure you of all people know how unruly they can get when they want their questions answered." She folded her arms and positioning herself in a way that gave off the impression she was comfortable around him, and for the first time since speaking with him actually forgot what he was. Your kind He mentally flinched. That was kind of harsh... Not that he made a move to correct her. When looking in at their situation as a third person, it was only right that she grouped him in with other demons. After all, angels and demons had been killing each other for thousands of years. Only once in a while does a demon appear that doesn't wish harm on others and even then, they are forced to kill to protect themselves, remaining misunderstood forever. However, their particular meeting had a positive outlook. Where they were, nothing could happen to them, at least, if they didn't want to draw attention and Zander certainly wasn't ready to open himself up to the public. He much liked his incognito life as a human and judging by her work here, so did she. For now, they could remain neutral and go about their lives and separate without any interruptions.
He turned to look at her, green eyes curious. He supposed there was no harm and revealing the supernatural case files he'd been following. After all, he didn't have anyone else to share them with. Sometimes even detectives need to have a second, unexpected mind look in. He kept his voice low, so only she could hear. "There hasn't been an Alpha in New Orleans for meany years. The power shift jumps from one to the next and no one wants to swear allegiance to someone else. So, the city has become a sort of "rogue" territory. Only loners live here and operate. However, there is a law among the loners that they all follow; bite someone and you're responsible for their training and teaching until they can handle themselves alone. Like a mother with a child, let's say.
"The last couple months, there seems to a be rogue were among the loners who is disrespecting the laws set down within the city. Newly bitten are on the rise and what's worse, they don't know how to control themselves. Who ever is turning them, is leaving them to their own devices, not taking responsibility. I've been following this case but I haven't been able to pin point anyone. I have insiders but it's like a giant maze. No one wants to mention names or talk." He sighed, running his hands through his hair in frustration. "However, the only good part of all of this is being able to keep it under wraps. Telling locals and medical staff that there is pack of wild dogs roaming the streets of New Orleans seems to pacify all those with questions and so far, it's working. But it'll only be a matter of time until the lies will no longer satisfy."

[nospaces] [attr="class","LDtable"] [attr="class","LDmain"] [attr="class","LDcontainer"] [attr="class","LDtriangle"] [attr="class","LDcontent"] Ava felt a tightness in the pit of her stomach. Not only were Werewolves dangerous, if left untrained they can also be destructive. There was no amount of damage a wolf could do that would go unnoticed, but if no one was willing to talk despite the unwanted attention from humans, well, that meant only one thing: organization. Even if the newly turned wolves remain disconnected and unaware of their true purpose, it was safe to assume whoever was turning them was doing so for a reason, and was using fear as a motivator to keep their identity a secret. The best way to maintain a certain level of secrecy within an organization is to have the price for spilling the beans out-weight the value of your life. When your life is on the life, nothing else really matters. [break][break] "Do you think maybe whoever is turning these people, is building an army of wolves?" She asked, a bit of hesitance in her voice. It almost seemed unbelievable that a wolf would decide to take back the city from the witches and demons, yet to Ava it seemed like the only possibility she could come up with, and if so, why now? The sliding doors opened, bringing Ava's attention away from Zander to see her boss walking up to Zander. "The patient is awake. If you want to talk to her, now would be the time before the pain meds kick in again." The female Doctor said before turning her heel and walked back inside. "I'll go with you." Ava said, determined to find out more as well. She knew eventually she would have to tell her parents about the situation - namely her father - and knowing that if she was right, if the wolves were building an army on witch territory, with the witches and demons already fighting for power, it was only a matter of time before a war started and Ava would be smack dab in the middle of it. Just perfect. Her curiosity for the supernatural underground Zander had been dealing with years, irked him. Why the Hell would an Angel care? On second thought, what was an Angel doing in a city so polluted with sin? He was spared the longer thought process by the doctor who held his hand out to Zander. Zander shook the man's hand, pulling on a rather convincing serious face and nodded, following behind the doctor to the room he indicated. He was uncomfortably aware that Ava was right behind him. Did she not trust him? Was she keeping tabs on him to make sure he didn't do anything stupid? He had no doubt her Divine Blade was within quick reaching distance. If she wanted to follow, fine, but she wasn't going to like how he conducted business. Angry, he focused his attention to the woman in the bed instead. She truly looked like she was in pain. The drip in her arm had only just begun and Zander only had a short time period till she succumbed to her drugs. He thanked the doctor then watched him leave before he grabbed the woman's IV and twisted the tube, stopping the flow before.
The woman cried out but Zander slapped a hand over her mouth before the yell left her lips. "I know you saw what attacked you and I know you know it wasn't human. Did you say anything to the doctors?" He hissed to her.
The woman tried yelling through his hand but it was barely audible. Zander growled angrily and gripped her cheeks harder. "Did. You. Tell. Anyone. What. You. Saw." he spoke slowly, enunciating clearly to point the point across. The woman's eyes filled with fear and she quickly shook her head. "Good. I'm going to let go now and you're going to keep your mouth shut, got it?" The woman nodded furiously and Zander let go. But, before he let go of her IV tube, he pulled a syringe from his back pocket and stuck it below the twisted part so the liquid oozed into her blood stream first.
"What's that?" The woman asked, panicked.
Zander pointed out the hospital window to the moon hanging low in the sky. "Guess what, sweetheart. Full moon tonight. This will keep you sane and happy for tonight so you don't end up killing the hospital staff that just saved your life." The woman looked dubiously at the syringe in his hand but Zander let go of her IV tube and the rest of her fluids rushed back into her veins. She leaned back against her bed with a peaceful sigh. Zander stuck the syringe back in his jeans pocket and turned back to Ava. "I'm done here." He handed her a business card. "When she's released, have her come by my office. If we can get one rogue on our side, we might have a chance to catch who ever is doing this."
