When she'd been brought to the Silver Cross as a child, these hallways and rooms had become her home. And she hadn't been the only Angel child to live here. It wasn't uncommon for angel children to become orphaned when it came to hunting demons. She had had a class of about seven when she'd first come here and trained under Quinn. On the outside, the second chair of the Silver Cross had a bubbly personality and a smile for everyone. But in the training room, she was all business. Ryssa and the other children learned quickly under her training, both painful and informative. Quinn didn't allow for weaknesses and pushed them all to learn basic combat techniques. Being older now, Ryssa could appreciate her teacher's training but regretted not being able to view the massive collection in the Archival Library. There were thousands of recorded history in these books and each with a lesson to tell. Judging by the dust on them, not many had opened them up to read them. She busied herself in the back corner of the library, just beneath a window that had soft white light flooding down onto her, lighting up her golden blonde hair. She sat cross legged on top of a table, a rather large volume opened up on her lap as she absently leafed through the brittle pages. It was a shame more Angels didn't read the books here. So many Angels made mistakes and the next one wrote it down to teach the next generation. How many of the kids she'd lived here with could still have their parents? Perhaps, even, her parents would still be alive... Gabriel

Ryssa. His granddaughter was just another reminder of his failures in life. Failure to protect Rose her grandmother and then being too consumed in his mourning and waiting to late to reconcile with Ryssa's mother she and her father were both killed by demons making Ryssa essentially an orphan as well. Whether she blamed him or not he would always blame himself for losing his daughter and failing to protect her as well. It was enough reason for him to amend things with Castiel and Ryssa now though his son would take awhile longer but Ryssa seemed to forgive him least he hoped she did. He'd been so excited when he heard his daughter was pregnant with Ryssa but being rather a stranger to her he stayed back out of her life and Ryssa's as well. Marrying Sophia had been his breaking point when he decided to amend things with Ryssa who was a lot like her mother was from what he had seen of her growing up watching from afar like he did until now. Quinn could be a little uptight and harsh sometimes but it was good training for the younger generations of Angels it toughened them up and made them all the wiser for it when it came to dealing with Demons anyways. Walking into the libray now he could sense a few Angels in here but not many as there used to be which was sad really. When younger he used to come in here a lot himself course back then he was busy writing in his own influences on history of humans in there. Things seemed a lot simpler and peaceful then than they were nowadays humans were a lot more complicated to understand now and was prone to fighting more than ever before. He could sense Ryssa within the library he'd always been good at sensing his own blood the best and she was his blood so it was easy really as he browsed the aisles a little and grabbed a Greek history book before coming out to find Ryssa sitting there reading. "Hey Ryssa how are you today?" he asked laying his book down on the table next to her table now. "What are you reading about?" he asked a little curious now as he looked back to his own book now. It was amusing really how the Greeks created the demi-god Hercules which was based off him though Hercules was hardly a messenger like he was known to be in the past. He'd smile a little at the thought as he looked back to Ryssa once more now. @ryssa

She'd been so absorbed in her book, she hadn't heard him approach and gave a start when he spoke. She closed her book and scooted over to give him more room at the table. A blush crept into her cheeks at her embarrassment at being surprised. When she'd been taken in by the Silver Cross, it wasn't necessarily that she had no where else to go, it was that no one had wanted to take her in. This man included. She didn't hold it against him. For years, her mother had talked about her father, Ryssa's grandfather, admiring him and telling stories of his prowess. Whenever Ryssa asked why she'd never met him, her mother would always wink and tell her he was busy protecting everyone. She'd looked up to her grandfather then, had admired his tenacity but now that she was older, she knew better and knew the real Gabriel, not the one she'd idolized. She didn't hold it against him, though. Without the Silver Cross's interference, she probably would have succumbed to depression and distrust after her parent's death. The Silver Cross had given her something to work for, something to distract her long enough for the pain to disappear. It wasn't much different from Gabriel's own experiences except, he didn't have anyone to help him.
She finally smiled as she held the book up. "It's a collective of stories of the ancient Mayans. Apparently there was a demon there who could shape shift into a jaguar and would routinely kill virgins for sport. I can't believe just how many stories there are." she indicated the shelves around. "All these books contain stories of other Angels and their fight against the demons and hardly anyone has read them." Here, she frowned and held the book in her lap as though it were valuable. "So many lives could be saved if we would just learn what others failures are trying to teach us..." she whispered.

Gabriel would smile a little sheepishly as he seemed to catch her offguard when he spoke since she seemed so engrossed in her book. He could remember a time when he could Rose and their daughter here as well so engrossed in books and the history of their kind. So lost in it all that he always seemed to startle them it was amusing really and Ryssa was no different. He was glad there were still a few Angels like her around in her generation that valued knowledge and the empowerment that came with it. So much could really be learned from the past tribulations and mistakes of their kinds and Demons to prepare and evolve for the future but most nowadays were too focused on their own problems and fight against the Demons they had little time for enjoyments like a library anymore. He'd nod in thanks as he took a seat next to her now and grabbed his own book flipping through some of the pages of it now. He was relieved that her mother had never really hated him but it did little to make him feel better for his failure in saving her grandmother and being too focused on that to realize until it was too late that he needed to mend things with her mother and then she was gone. Castiel would probably always be a little bitter and resentful towards him for that but he just hoped he too understood his duties as an Archangel and the importance of protecting his virtue on Earth Hope and Love both came form charity and without Humanity would shrivel up and die completely. He was glad though Ryssa had been taken in by the Silver Cross and trained properly she turned out just fine despite her unfortunate losses. "Yeah I remember that one. You know in Greek lore and myth creatures like the Hydra and Cerebus were really just Demon shapeshifters as well. They were pretty tough to beat by myself too," Gabriel replied smiling sheepishly as he looked at her now. Not that he was really bragging just sharing his own personal involvement with the Greek people. "It is sad really I know. Maybe you should spread the word on importance of our history and what we can learn from it to the younger generations. Maybe you could have a class or something," Gabriel replied and then suggested as an idea to her now. All it took was someone like her to really make a difference and he could help her really if that was something she really ended up wanting to do in the end.

The idea certainly intrigued Ryssa. However, out of all the children who'd been taken in by the Silver Cross during her duration staying here, she was the only one who had yet to encounter a demon and use her Divine Weapon. But it wasn't like she hadn't tried. She'd only been independent from the Silver Cross for about six months now and so far, she'd merely busied herself with fitting into the new world. When she'd come to the Silver Cross as a child, American had been on the brink of the American Revolution. Today's world was far different, and larger, than the one she'd left behind. Enrolling in a University and taking classes had helped teach her how to act in this new world but that in itself had distracted her from her duty to the Silver Cross. She'd come here today, in the hopes to get some long deserved practice in the practice rooms but she'd gotten sidetracked in the library.
"Maybe..." she whispered before sliding off the table and returning the book to it's place on the shelf. "I doubt anyone would come. Everyone is more of a go getter than a book nerd." She smiled at the comparison before turning back around and facing him, quickly changing the subject. "How are you and Sophia? It's been awhile since I've seen either of you..." Instead of feeling anger towards her grandfather and Sophia, Ryssa had, instead, accepted the Angel as part of the family. Ryssa had no reason to hate Gabriel or cry over things that had happened. She understood there were players against them and that, somewhere down the line, things would happen that they had no control over. In fact, she was happy he had managed to find happiness again. "Has she followed you here, to America? I mean, the whole thing with the Demon Lords resurfacing... I wasn't sure if she had come with you or stayed behind in Spain..."

Gabriel was kind of glad Ryssa had yet to encounter a demon yet really. He would rather she stay out of harm's way entirely really but she was a young adult now. He couldn't really hole her back if he wanted to she could make her own choices and decisions now all he could do really was support her in everything she did and hope that was enough for her. She was young and innocent he didn't really want to see the darker side of things like he had for centuries now. There used to be a time when Angels simply stripped them of their magiks but now the Silver Cross seemed to turn a blind eye to the Angels that simply killed demons he knew Leo was behind it somehow he was up to something bad he had to be but sadly he had no proof right now. Every trip to Earth in the past was so different everytime. He could remember a time when humans were simple farmers mostly herding sheep and riding horses from place to place or sailing the seas on wooden boats. A time when weapons were simple metal swords and chain mail armor living in and defending their castles from invaders and bandits. Now they had warships and airplans atomic weapons and so many other dangerous things at their disposal. The world had changed so much it was hard to keep up with nowadays. He'd watch as she then moved to return her book from the place she had gotten it from no doubt. "You never know unless you try Ryssa," he simply replied and grabbed his own to put it away as well. Now hearing her ask about Sophia he turned back arounf to face her now. She and Castiel were about the only ones here in Limbo that really knew the two were married and living together now he could trust the two and know they wouldn't tell anyone about it until he was ready to let everyone know finally. "We're doing fine really I've been training her persoanlly myself these past few months." Gabriel replied smiling softly at her now. He was glad she could at least understand his situation and didn't seem to hate him for it. Castiel seemed to understand too but he was still a bit bitter about losing his sister. "We live together in Spain but she works out of a lawfirm in New York City currently. Her training is progressing well she even managed to kick my butt one." he replied chuckling a little bit now. She had a lot of spunk in fire in her spirit and seemed to get along with Ryssa despite the minor awkwardness of how close in age the two were now. Still to Angels simple things like didn't make a difference to them really love was love.
