The pungent smell of sweat and sin was thickly woven in the air. He may be no Vampire, but his senses were extraordinary. Despite being overdressed, he felt comfortable. Despite being surrounded by supernatural creatures that were likely drawn to his blood, he felt comfortable. He was a creature all on his own – not fully human. He was a predator, and he was itching for some prey. He always welcomed a challenge.
His shimmering blue eyes flashed with a hunter’s intensity as they scanned the crowd. He was not looking for just any prey… No, he was looking for the top of the food chain – the queen. A powerful rival. How powerful? Well, he hoped to find out. Throughout his millennia of living, he had heard of this “Original Vampire”. Apparently, she was an exotic creature, unlike any other; unmatched in beauty and power. This was a rumour Viktor hoped to either dispel or prove on his own. Normally, he would have a faithful guardian at his side; nevertheless, this was a task he needed to complete solo.
The club was almost unbearably loud, yet it helped cover Viktor’s tracks. Every step that he took caused a ripple in the floor, cracking the tiles beneath his feet. His power was resonating off him and breaking the foundations around him. The Vampires and Supernaturals that surrounded him, dancing away, likely did not notice that they were being pushed away from him ever so slightly. None pierced the barrier he had erected, and to what it would seem, none could tell such a barrier was present. They were too caught up in the moment of revelry.
Enjoying the simple pleasures was not one of Viktor’s strong suits. He had lived too long and had become narrow-minded and focused. He no longer regarded life something that was to be treasured. No, he sought control… Control of everything. His purpose here was two-fold. Seek out the enemy… But perhaps find some sort of partnership? The idea of a partnership with Vampires left a vile taste on his tongue; regardless, it was an avenue he had to leave open… At least for the time being.
