Human by day, monster by night…
His icy blue eyes glowed as he read over the detailed profile of his next appointment: Lorna Wells. She was the niece of Chancellor Meredith Wells, a woman who practically raised the girl from birth. The man he had tasked with collecting information on the girl had done an incredibly thorough job – Viktor was quite impressed.
It would seem that the girl had grown cynical with time. Tasking herself with hunting hunters after having bad experiences with them, she had begun to grow cold and angry… This was material that Viktor could certainly work with, moulding her into a weapon of his design. She certainly had enough potential that Viktor took a particular interest in her.
Sending out a personal invitation, Viktor waited in his grand office for her arrival. His mind on the possibilities as animated objects danced around his room. His office was ornate and overflowing with astonishing magic. Centuries of collecting had left Viktor with an impressive assortment of magical items, antiques, and books. It often left visitors in awe – even he got caught up in the years of history sometimes.
What was most invigorating, however, was the very floor on which he grounded himself… Pure limestone covered the ground beneath his feet, and he put millennia of stored energy into it. It was a gold mine of magical energy, and stayed there until he called upon it. Even the most novice Magi would be able to feel its energy.
Thus he sat there, fuelled by the world’s most powerful energy source beneath his feet, waiting for his newest pet project to arrive.

Getting a personal summons from the Scarlet Council's High Priest was generally an honor but it was also a little unnerving. Lorna was far more curious than nervous. She couldn't help but wonder if this meeting had to with her unsanctioned vendetta, but she was also certain that if she were in trouble for it there wouldn't be an invitation but action against her. This wasn't really how consequences were doled out. So yes, the woman was curious as to why she was meeting the head of everything she pretty much stood for.
The significance of this unconventional appointment was not lost on the woman. She knew whatever this was about it was important. There was only a handful of reasons for the High Priest to get involved with. All of those reasons were most likely personal to him in some way. Lor wasn't sure she wanted to find out, but she was positive that declining the invitation would be a mistake that could cost her everything. So she donned one of her best outfits and headed to the headquarters in Staten Island. She was led into his office the moment she announced herself and paused.
The magic pulsing in the room was tangible. Though she hadn't really been worried initially, the amount of energy in the room definitely sent her warning bells flaring. No one stored that much magic without being paranoid enough to think they would need to tap into it at the drop of a hat. She wasn't scared. She was simply cautious as she tried to focus on the boss of bosses rather than the magical energy around them. This also turned her curiosity into suspicion as she faced the man.
“What could you possibly want with a lowly inquisitor such as myself?” she asked bluntly with a touch of a caustic note.
It was words that would no doubt send her aunt reeling. She wasn't brought up to be disrespectful when facing or interacting with those higher up in rank. Her aunt also taught her that nothing should be taken at face value. As of late, however, Lorna wasn't known for her patience. She really couldn't stand to be around anyone for more than just a few minutes. So, she didn't care how she did it but halting the niceties to get to the point of the visit was more important to her than making a good impression. If that meant she would be in trouble for being unprofessional so be it. She didn't really care.

The High Priest may not have been a psychologist; however, he had been around the world and on it long enough to make judgement calls regarding someone’s personality within the first few seconds to minutes of meeting. He could already tell that he was going to like this young woman.
She carried herself with a rebellious and guarded demeanour. She did not appear to fear authority, which Viktor was still deciding whether he liked or not. Regardless, there was a well of potential in her that he could sense. It needed to be harnessed, but that was manageable. With some instructions, she could definitely be a useful pawn.
”I would not say ‘lowly,’ for you have proven yourself on the field to be much more capable than most. In my spare time, I enjoy keeping track of those who excel within our ranks or do exemplary work. Please, have a seat.”
He extended his arm towards a chair, gesturing for her to sit. While doing so, he animated the chair out of instinct, making it bounce slightly side-to-side until she sat down. It was an incredibly basic Magi ability, but he was an addict to using his magic, like every Magi. He used it every chance he got.
”What do you think makes you proficient at accomplishing your duties to the The Scarlet Council and the Magi race?”
There was a time for small talk, and there was a time to get to business without delay. If he wanted small talk, he would have arranged this meeting at a coffee shop. Viktor was in the business of world domination, or at least on the path. Small talk may take place, but business first.

Lorna had half a mind to decline the seat. Something told her that nothing good would come if she got too comfortable. Then again, that voice was always there in the back of her head. She wasn't the most trusting person in the world and growing up with just her aunt, she was all about girl power. Watching her aunt single-handedly rise up the ranks was something Lor admired the most and without any male influences in her life, she didn't really have as high an opinion on men. That was especially true with roles of authority. She didn't carry the same level of respect for them as she did for her aunt or those like her. Still, as the chair rocked a little the witch took a seat in the chair and then looked at Viktor, unphased by the show of magic. However, that didn't stop her from scoffing a little in response to his ridiculous question.
“I do my job and I do it well,” she said. “My proficiency shouldn't be in question if you admire my success rate like you claim you do.”
She knew what made her good at her job, but she wasn't stupid. She wasn't going to admit how much of her proficiency stemmed from a dark side that wanted blood from past wrongs that she felt she was owed. Heck, if she were honest her loyalty to the Council and magi as a whole came second in her life. She only stayed in the Council because it made her vindictive desires easy to quelch. She was selfish and angry and if she admitted all that to the Big Boss Man she was certain he would sack her at best and have her locked up at worst.
