Macht simply stood still while the man circled him, staring forward. He listened intently to every word, taking in all the man had to say. It seemed he'd gone out on a bit of a limb in his assumption that Macht had any intention of saving his Mother. Truth be told, even if he had had it in mind to do so, the chance that the rest would follow was slim, at best. What of the Dragons who've lived four of his lifetimes under the thumb of the council? To them, the Mother needed to be where she was, and they needed to serve without a second thought. Changing things on them would only cause more harm than good, and too many would die in the crossfire. Not only that, Macht, despite being as strong as he was, could not take on an army of Lords, Knights, and Seers - at least, not alone. "I have earned my freedom, and will help any others who seek it, but my kind, as a whole, will not be so accepting. Throw a caged bird into the wild, and it will miss its cage." And thus was his answer.
"How can you comfortably suggest such a thing?" He asked, cocking a brow and turning to face the man. His suggestion was almost outlandish. "You are Magi, and I am a Deacon. Even if this were my goal, I lack the power to do so, and this could all be a trap. I hate the Council more than anyone - but to go up against them would be suicide. I would need an army, and I will never have one. And even if I did, the lives that would be lost because of it - surely not all Magi are guilty of the same sin. If you speak honestly, that is all the proof I need of it." Macht was willing to go the mile and rip apart any member of the council he could get his hands on, but it would mean abandoning his peaceful life... it wasn't something he could do on a whim. He would need to be prepared.

Colton cast his gaze downward, shaking his head. "Unfortunately, you are right. Most will miss the cage. But if the cage is gone, they must accept it and move on." The Magi let out a small chuckle. The suggestion was easy. Speaking was easy; doing is the hard part, but the distinction was null. "I do so, because it is one of the few solutions. Can you actually say you believe there is anyone innocent on that Council? That they are not mad with power, or driven to a corrupt mindset of moral conviction? I'm not saying all Magi, or all Dragons. I mean just those bastards sitting smugly on their power and righteousness. Those who seek dominion over others for their whims. They cannot be reasoned with. The only way the Council can be remade is if it is broken first." And with that, he smiled.
"You presume to defeat an enemy, you require an army. There are other ways, such as turning them against each other. Let them tear each other apart until there's nothing left. You could also slowly take out the heads, one by one, eliminating the main powers that be. I'd even condone turning them Vampire to weaken them; take away the power they know while giving them power they do not, and additionally give them more weaknesses - and since Magi blood is their drug, think of the damage even one member would do to his or her fellow Councilmen." Colton paused. He knew it would not be a popular idea, so he felt the need to elaborate a little more. "When you deal with people who will do anything to suppress their enemies, you must fight as they do. Taking the high road does not work in reality, because there is no tangible advantage." Colton nodded, turning his gaze over to Macht.
"Don't you agree?"

So he was 100% serious, through-and-through. It was interesting, to say the least, and every point he made was a good one. It wouldn't be too difficult, really - he'd just need to draw them out, research their habits, find some way of getting them alone. It wasn't like he didn't have the time, considering he was nearing his fourth century. "That's... not a bad idea, Colton," he started, taking a few steps forward and cracking the knuckles in his left hand. It was a morally gray area, sure, but definitely one Macht was heavily considering. The council was indeed filled with nothing but undesirable characters, and it would be his pleasure to cause a little chaos for them. "Your ass is on the line just about as much as mine is, now. Say I pursued this - could I count on your help, or would that be a stretch?"
Macht didn't need an army, necessarily, but he did need help. He was one man, a Dragon on the run. To do any of what Colton suggested, he at least needed the assistance of a Vampire and someone who could feed him some sort of information, Colton being the latter of the two. "I don't want to put you on the spot, and I don't want any lives to be thrown away, but if getting rid of the council is the safest way to go about this for everyone, then I'll do it. I don't care how long it takes. I've got all the time in the world."

Colton idly twirled his icy cane, nodding toward Macht. "I have no compunctions about helping. I gave the idea, did I not? However, I would prefer not to be a frontline combatant. I like to work in the shadows, and if it's information you seek then that is exactly where you need me. The Council is well aware that I am not their biggest fan, yet has no idea the depth of my hatred for them. If I were to suddenly show interest, it might arouse suspicion. To that extent, it has been a while since they approached me. Perhaps the next time they decide to meet with me, I could show a little less...disapproval. I mean, vampire attacks are up since the 'coming out' of the supernaturals and as a Magi I am concerned for the safety of myself and my people. The best means of infiltration require no lies." He lifted his cane up and looked it over. The ice rapidly shaped itself to that of a shortsword.
"This will not be easy. People will die, even innocent ones might and I hope you realize that. However, I would like this to be done with as little bloodshed as possible. If you decide to look for a Vampire, do so with caution. Pick an older one, if possible. I would rather avoid some young bloodsucker losing it after tasting Magi blood. Their first experience is usually... messy." Colton spoke as if he had experience in the matter, narrowing his eyes. "I am happy to hear you have patience. I do not anticipate this will be a short endeavor, but a long time in the making. Years, perhaps." He smirked, reshaping the frozen sword into two large daggers, both floating just above his hand. "Tonight was a chance meeting. One in ten million, and yet it happened. Just because something is unlikely does not mean it is impossible." Colton waved his hand, the icy weapons sublimating into the air. "For now, I suggest we part and give this some thought. We can reconvene at another time. I teach Astrophysics at MIT, just a state over in Massachusetts. I would prefer our conversations took place in person to avoid prying eyes and ears, but you may call me at work should something pertinent come up. Clear?"

"I understand. It won't be easy, and it won't be clean, but it'll get done proper. I'll see what I can scope out in the way of vampires - maybe I'll actually find one it won't be hard to work with. Who knows, really. Either way, it's a damn good thing we don't expire as quickly as humans do." A smile graced Macht's lips and he turned away from Colton, slowly beginning to walk back to his vehicle. He had no complaints with the meeting ending here. If anything, he was glad he decided to put out the random old man's cigarette, because now, a plan was beginning to form. He had an in with the Council, and he was going to use that to make them crumble from within. Finding a vampire wasn't going to be fun, exactly, but it shouldn't be hard, either. With how crazy the lot were, there were bound to be plenty. Macht just had to do a whole lot of night-time searching. "I won't worry you with handling sensitive information over the phone. If I have anything, I'll come find you."
And with that, the Dragon would get into his vehicle and head home.
