Diligence is the Mother of Good Fortune

[attr="class","plottertext"]Raphael here is an archangel who is currently going by the alias "Ray Jones" as a Chief of Surgeon at one of the hospitals in Manhattan, New York. He allies himself with the other archangels, The Silver Cross, and other angels. He lives in a single apartment with his lovely cat, a Turkish Angora cat that he affectionally has named "Tiberius." Ray doesn't like demons, but he doesn't mind their existence really. As long as they don't cross paths with him, Raphael's not going to bother with them.


At heart, Ray is a hard-working individual who strives to be the best he can be. It is a trait that has always been with him long before the Demi-God possessed him. Once he sets himself to a goal, Raphael will stop at nothing to achieve it. However, he might get so wrapped up in it that he stresses himself out, often ending up cranky and snappy. So that’s why he’s known as Cranks by some of his fellow co-workers in the surgical ward of the hospital (such rude little minions gdi, gossipping about your boss behind his back). But other than that, Ray is pretty dedicated to his craft and if it weren’t for the diligence, Raphael wouldn’t have been able to get to where he is now-the honored title of Chief of Surgeon at one of the best hospitals in Manhattan.

As said before, Ray is prone to being cranky and snappy. But generally, he’s amicable really (aside from his sarcastic personality) and he’s actually pretty great at talking to other people. As a doctor, a people’s skill is a must, so he’s quite a social creature and he likes interacting with the patients, especially with the children in the hospital. He and his deceased wife had once talked about having children before, but ever since she got killed by a demon, Ray has long since dropped the dreams of ever getting married again or having children as he’s afraid of getting his heart broken again. Love is a dangerous territory for Raphael, who has stayed far away from ever getting too close in a romantic relationship. He has dated in the past, but he’s never stuck with them too long and his relationships end up being just physical relationships.

While he is a doctor, Ray is also a fighter as well. Although that was more his younger years, when he used to be more ruthless and unyielding. However, the years have mellowed him out a bit, although Ray still maintains a stern demeanor. He does not like to fight, but he will act on it if it is necessary. He will do whatever it takes to protect himself and his close friends if it is needed. Raphael will not fight unless he is forced into a situation where he cannot talk the other person out of fighting. Killing is his last resort as this is not something he wants on his hands. He already has shed so much blood on his hands before in the past, most of them the blood of his fallen brethren who became demons, and he’s tired of the killing. It also goes against his beliefs as a doctor, as doctors are meant to give life, not take away.

Having a voracious love for knowledge, Raphael is a dedicated angel who has worked hard to soak up as much as he can about medical knowledge and other things as well. He daily reads journals of other doctors and also historical novels. Ray also loves science fiction as well, and loves all things related to it.

Ray also talks with a distinct English accent, an accent that has long since stuck with him ever since he lived in England, even though he doesn’t live in London anymore.


Demons are most likely his enemies. Raphael will not engage in a fight unless provoked/forced to do so. He doesn't like to fight, as he would rather talk civilly first. If he needs to, he will not hesitate to kill a demon with his Divine Weapon. But anyone besides demons is free to get all antagonistic with Ray here. He will do everything he can to sabotage his enemies' lives if anyone close to him got hurt. Once he sets his mind to something, he'll finish it himself.


He considers the archangels, and a few close angels his most trusted friends. But he also has several connections to other people of different species as well, be it human or non-human. He's a pretty amicable person, once someone gets past his sarcastic and dry personality.


Love is a bit of a dangerous territory for Raphael, as he's had his heart broken once before. 70 years ago, Raphael was married to a woman named Delilah Mercer, who got killed by a demon. Since then, Raphael's stayed far away from love, taking only physical romantic relationships every once in a while. As a pansexual, he's open to anyone really, but it'll take him a long time before he can really truly stick to one person. Emotional relationships take more time and effort for Raphael, and if he meets someone who really captures his attention, then he'll devote his time to it.
