So many days, Nikolai has waited until sundown to go out and observe, and find things to do. He'd almost had a ritual of sorts - wake up at 7:30 pm, clean off, eat watch some news, and then skulk the night. It was getting bland, boring, old. Nikolai wanted to switch it up, so today, he went out while the sun was still up. All he really needed to do to prepare for this was dress in heavy, dark clothing, and that's exactly what he did. It probably made him look similar to what some would call "Goth college kids," but he didn't mind. It was a hell of a lot better of a label to wear than Vampire, really. So, with everything ready, he'd head out to The Square, a hive of human greed and consumerism, and look for a little bit of info on just about anything that might be deemed interesting. The first areas Nikolai approached were all shaded, where he would remove his gloves and touch the surrounding objects to get a feel of who, or what, frequented the area. This knowledge was always helpful, and it didn't hurt to be prepared. He must have hit ten different spots before he caught a glimpse of a very familiar person. At first, he thought he was imagining things, but after examining the objects again, he saw that he definitely was not crazy. Just like Andrei, his sister was alive, only this fact didn't make him angry like his brother did. A smile curled onto his lips, and if he were still human, a single tear would have been shed. "Anya," he stated taking a seat in one of the areas his sister frequented. He didn't care how long it took for her to show, he'd stay there for days, weeks, months if he had to. He just needed to see Anya again. // Anya Pajari-Belkov

I have a heart that gets on everybody's nerves They don't want the truth, they just want the words Blah blah blah blah and I can sing until I'm dead Anya was enjoying her loosened chain. She had missed her freedom. Being stuck with Loki had begun to drive her mad. After the Greece trip, things got a little easier in her favor. She was making the most of an incredibly shitty situation. She certainly needed the breathing room so now she was back to as close to her usual routine as she could get. She shopped. She clubbed. She just let loose and had fun. Her favorite haunt had always been The Square so she happily went back to going there at least once a day.
She hadn't spoken to her family at all, however. She knew what would happen when she did. Andrei would be pissed at her, not understanding why she chose to behave rather than get the heck out of dodge. Alex would likely ask questions about why she basically dropped off the face of the earth with little explanation. Anya had a list of lies ready for the girl. There was no reason for her to be burdened with the truth. So, the she-cat decided that she would be better off avoiding the inevitable for as long as possible.
She was in the middle of a shopping spree when she heard someone say her name. It wasn't her name that caught her attention so much as the voice behind the word. She knew that voice. Vaguely. She couldn't place how she knew it at first. The moment she turned around was the moment her memory became clear. She swallowed and approached the man she thought spoke her name.
“Nikolai?” she asked.
It was an uncertain and hesitant tone. After reuniting with Andrei and meeting Alex, she had been certain that they were all that was left of her family. At least the ones that knew she even existed. She knew Alex had family around but they never met Anya. Probably didn't even know much about her aside from the fact she was an ancestor. So to think Nikolai was alive and kicking was a bit mindblowing. 342 No notes at the moment

Upon hearing his name, Nikolai's eyes shot up to the source. The voice was one he knew quite well, in fact it was embedded in his memory. And the person it belonged to... "моя сестра,"(My sister) he muttered standing up from his seat. He couldn't believe it. Anya was alive, all this time, and she still looked like she did all those years ago. Nikolai looked as though he was about ready to cry, only he was a Vampire so that didn't exactly happen. His happiness was, however, evident in his smile and his tone. "Ты стиль так красиво." (You're still so beautiful.)Nikolai approached Anya, stopping maybe an arm's length away. "Millennium has treated you well." There were so many things he'd wanted to say, and yet he couldn't think of a thing. The sight of his dear sister, whom he presumed to be dead this whole time, seemed to leave him dumbfounded. After a moment of silence he held out his arms, offering a hug. He didn't know whether or not she would be mad at him for not finding her during the last millennium, so he didn't push it, but he sincerely hoped she wasn't. After the loss of Svetlana, he'd been in a terrible state-of-mind. A bit of happiness could go a long way. // Anya Pajari-Belkov

I have a heart that gets on everybody's nerves They don't want the truth, they just want the words Blah blah blah blah and I can sing until I'm dead Anya never actually expected it to actually be her baby brother. She had been certain that it was all just a cruel joke the universe chose to play on her. Nikolai couldn't seriously still be alive. He reacted though and as he spoke and she got a proper look at him she knew it was true. It was really him. She didn't even hesitate when he opened his arms up for a hug. She rushed him immediately and hugged him tightly.
“I missed you so much,” she said as she pulled away to look at him.
It wasn't a lie. She really did miss him. If she thought she could, she would have gone back to visit him after her turn. She killed her husband and daughter, however. She didn't want to hurt anyone else, especially her brother or their parents. Besides, had she stayed, she feared she would have been found out. If anyone had though Demyan and Zoya's deaths weren't mere animal attacks, she wouldn't have executed for their murders. She didn't doubt her being caught if she stayed. Predatory animals didn't usually kill inside houses. So Anya was given no real choice but to flee. Still she thought about her family all the time and always hated herself for the pain she undoubtedly caused them.
Like their brother before her, her family would have likely gotten a letter or some notice alerting them to the attack and her disappearance. That was what she had hoped, at least. She knew there was the possibility they never even found out about it. She wasn't even worried about that at the moment. She was genuinely happy, even with the stench of vampire coming off of him in waves.
“It wasn't bad to you either,” she said. “I never meant to leave you, Kol. I hope you know that.” 310 No notes at the moment

To see and speak to her was one thing, but to feel his sister's loving embrace again, after so long, that really did him in. It was wonderful, surreal, even. His arms wrapped so tightly around her, and it was there own little eternity where he never wanted to let go for fear of losing her again. "Not a day has gone by where I haven't thought of my siblings, you especially." Fillip and Andrei crossed his mind the least, admittedly, followed by Varya. What separated Anya from the rest was that she came back, and because of that, he would always be fond of her. She was the good sibling. "Oh, Anya," he began with a smile, pushing some of her hair out of her face. "I know. I understand completely. You had your responsibilities."A thought donned on Nikolai after he spoke. His mind flashed back to the time when she was attacked, and he couldn't help but feel vast similarities in their circumstances when he thought back on it. When he was attacked, it was by a vampire that turned him and granted him his eternity - maybe her situation was the same? Not a vampire, no, that much was obvious by her attire alone. The sunlight was not harsh on her skin in the slightest. "Nya, what... did you ever find out what attacked you outside our home?" Nikolai would release her as he asked, though he kept a hand on hers. Part of him was scared that if he let her go, she would slip away. // Anya Pajari-Belkov

I have a heart that gets on everybody's nerves They don't want the truth, they just want the words Blah blah blah blah and I can sing until I'm dead She was glad to know he never forgot about her. She wasn't particularly happy about him being turned into a vampire, though. It wasn't that she didn't like them. She spent most of her time with vampires. Andrei and Alex were vampires and she had a number of friends over the years that were vampires as well. She was just sad that he never got to live out his life as a human should. She had hoped that he got the chance to grow old and die happy, but that didn't take away from how happy she was to be able to talk to him and hug him.
Well, she was happy until he brought her responsibilities keeping her away. She knew that wasn't the truth at all. She had been a coward, running from herself and the horror of what she had done. There was nothing noble or respectable about that. She knew it. She just didn't want to face her actions or her family. It was why she was so quick to forgive Andrei for leaving her. She understood his reasons probably even better than he did. After all, he never killed his family because of what he was shortly after turning. Granted he had his sire to help but Anya had been completely alone. She had no one to teach her. She couldn't bring herself to correct him though. Then she asked the question. She frowned and looked down.
“Of course I did,” she said. “It's why I'm still alive today. I was attacked by a werecat. A month later, I turned and killed Demyan and Zoya. I never returned because of what I had done, Nikolai. I didn't have responsibilities because I killed them. I'm sorry. I fled Russia and I never looked back but that doesn't mean I forgot about you or the rest of our family.” 313 No notes at the moment

When Anya spoke, Nikolai's heart sank just a little. Not for him, but for her. This whole time he was under the assumption that Anya, Demyan, and Zoya all lived a full and happy life together, but not only was Anya here, her family had fallen victim to her turning. It was a cruel fate, one that no one deserved to live through, and it made him sorrowful for her. To wake up and live with such guilt must have been a terrible thing, and it truthfully made him fear for whatever fate must have befallen Varya, as she was the only one, at this point, who remained a mystery to him. In this moment, he understood why it was Andrei did what he did, and remorse sunk through his being at how angry he'd been.
"I understand," he replied kindly, hands raising to his sister's shoulders. "You lived through something I would never wish on anyone. Even if you didn't have the same responsibilities I initially assumed, you still had your reasons, and I do understand." When he'd been turned, the only reason he didn't go postal was because he had someone there to guide him. Svetlana was always going to be, to him, his third, most loyal sister, and if it weren't for her staying in his life, he'd either be dead, or he'd have killed his parents out of an uncontrollable thirst. Putting himself in Anya's shoes, he had nothing but empathy. "But enough of the morose discussion, I insist we move onto brighter things. After all, it's not every day this sort of reunion happens."
Truth be told, Nikolai had very few ideas of what it is he wanted to do. Fun was a concept unfamiliar to him, and he didn't even know what his sister enjoyed. They were blood, but he was still staring at a stranger, and that thought was going to eat at the back of his mind for a long time. Still, he hoped the suggestion would spur up some sort of thought as to what she wanted to do, maybe the reason she was here in the first place.

Honestly, she didn't feel any less horrible for what she did. She would always regret running like a coward. She could have done things differently. She knew that. She figured it out when she finally came to terms with what she became. By then, it was too late. She never returned to Russia after that. She decided there was no point. She certainly missed him though.
“Moving onto something brighter sounds good,” she said. “How have you been all these years? Tell me what you've been up to.”
She really truly wanted to know. She certainly hoped he had a better life than herself and Andrei. They were both still in their own personal hell holes. While Anya wasn't exactly happy with her own current situation, she wasn't let it define or ruin her. Still, she just wanted to know Nikolai had a better hand than the rest of them. It would definitely make her feel better. 168 No notes at the moment
