Outfit for thread: linkMia never lost that note her twin brother had sent; that one which completely described his whereabouts, and she kept it for the whole reason of reunification should ever the situation arise, thus it did the day she finished college leaving the family behind; the same one that mentally abandoned Evander as a son as they became the cause behind his unpredicted disappearance. And Mia was tired of living alone all these years without her twin and half soul. As a game developer; it was quite easy at a matter of fact to get work anywhere and anytime, and all thanks go for her programming skills. Working at home, or working at a company's headquarters; all simply worked as it happened to be a matter of great convenience. So like a dandy; Mysie left the airport behind with two small bags. There was no need for more when Las Vegas happened to be a city of great conventions where all wares were sold in the right price. She called for the cab nearby; the first one her bright blue eyes caught. Indeed, the falcon-shifer struggled a bit to explain the driver where her brother lived, something akin to a barrier of communication, because her accent was Scottish and all. This kind of conversation irked her into a bad mood, but the struggle had ended once the driver knew where to go. Behind the passenger window's glass; Mysie kept watching different avenues and fun-providing-establishments as the cab went by. The journey was short indeed but it promised the Scottish Mysie of all the adventures she could have. But first things first; Mia had to meet up with a twin brother that she misses a lot thinking about the best way to greet him. Perhaps a slap in the face? Nah, that would be harsh, and it would break his big heart. So if Mia couldn't have a 'slap in the face' then she would settle for a punch to the teeth. Thus, she left the cab after paying the fair and getting her bags out. Mysie was already dressed in a blue blouse, dark jeans, and simple but elegant high-heels. Fearing the elevator; she took the stairs until the destined floor and flat number. And then, she buzzed the doorbell with extreme prejudice. Mia knew that he would come running to see who was rude enough to knock the door like that, and once the door opened; Mysie greeted her brother with a cheshire grin and a 'gentle' punch to the face, a punch that missed the nose and teeth as it went to the side of his jaw. ”I miss you, bother!” Mysie took him between her arms for a bear hug that would -metaphorically speaking- crush his bones, ”how dare you leave your sister like that?” the shifter broke the hug, but her palms kept his arms in check, ”look at you,” Mysie was pretty amazed, ”you grew a lot since the last time I saw you,” she pouted, ”how dare you leave your twin like that?” Mysie remembered again the long time she had never seen him through, thus she squeezed his cheek between an index finger and thumb, ”you gonna pay for all this time,” she smiled, ”right?” her question was almost rhetorical, since she never took 'no' for an answer. And so save him God! Many words || You gonna pay for all this time, right? || @tagged Evander Croft

Evander had been playing video games for much of the day, he had a few days off and had some time to goof off. However, every once in a while his thoughts would drift to his twin sister Mysie. Despite their distance Evander always had a bit of twin intuition, knowing full well when something was up with her but never had he felt anything quite like this. There was nothing wrong but something was different. He kept brushing it off; he had left her without her twin so he no longer thought he had the right to worry about her in the slightest. His online friends would yell and snap him out of his thought process every time his characters motions‒or lack thereof‒seemed to halt their team effort. After a great deal of cursing directed his way he decided to call it a day and got off his PS4 to go make himself some tea. As he leaned against the counter top, waiting for the tea kettle to boil, he was heavily considering a nap but by the time he had poured the water into his cup the doorbell rang. He was confused, usually he would have gotten a warning from most of his friends and even if that hadn’t given a warning they would just walking in since he never locked the door unless he was sleeping. He considered briefly that it was for his roommate but he was working this evening. That left him out of options. He supposed he should answer it then, so after putting a tea bag into cup he grabbed a blue Superman tee shirt from his bedroom and put it on over his black sweat pants. Then he finally made his way to the door to see who was there.
He opened it up and was incredibly surprised, both by who was standing there and by the gentle punch that connected with his cheek. Before he could even get a word out he was pulled into a bear hug and she was scolding him for leaving her. She pulled away and mentioned how much he had grown since they had last seen each other and then scolded him again and then pinched his cheek, making his nose crinkle. His brain hadn’t fully caught up to the situation. She was here. His twin was right in front of him for the first time in years and oh how she had changed‒just as much as he had in fact‒but she was familiar in all the ways that mattered. In the end she was the other half of his soul and they were finally in the same place and that was the only thing that he really cared about. His brain finally caught up and he pulled her into a hug, one that he was almost unwilling to let her go from because he was afraid this was a dream that he would wake up from at any moment and he’s be alone again. But he did let her go and she was still there and he was elated. “I’m so sorry, Mysie. I just couldn’t do it anymore. If I could have taken you with me I would have but I couldn’t do that to you.” His Scottish accent was far less thick than it used to be, living in America had caused it to lessen. “Please, come in and we can talk. I am making tea and we can sit and I’ll explain better.” He insisted before he stepped aside for her to walk in.

Outfit for thread: link”Coming to our senses, aren't we?” Mia giggled when her brother decided to give her a hug after the one she gave him completely noticing the lost stare which affected him for a bit, ”I am real,” Mysie told him as if she read through his thoughts, but the truth was quite otherwise; it was just a twin's intuition like the one Evander felt just moments ago, ”I am not going to fly anywhere,” she reassured him, on the contrary, Mia was going to stay for a long 'long' while but somewhere close where her sense of independence wouldn't be undermined, in addition to this rule; she didn't want to trespass on her brother's freedom as well. They were twins indeed, but they were grown ups in the end. ”Well,” Mysie wasn't sure how to process the 'sorry' especially after the damage was done, ”let bygones be bygones,” that was why she left her family back in Scotland and crossed continents to meet up with him, ”don't do that again though,” she was fond of the idea of being left behind, ”I will not be as merciful next time,” her smile was wide but lacked warmth, hence the message was hopefully delivered, and he knew that his sister had a temper. Then again, all Scottish had a temper somewhat. ”My brother's place ripe for the taking,” Mia took a step inside once invited, and with each step her blue eyes caught the new surroundings, ”a cup of tea would be lovely,” because there was a reason behind that, ”my throat is parched with thirst; I had to explain to a certain driver where you live,” she was not pleased one bit, ”it took me almost eternity; I need to learn speak American it seems,” Mysie followed him where he went with her bags trailing her steps, ”anyways,” the falcon shifter declared further, ”now it is time for your explanation,” she tilted her head with an amused smile caressing her lips, ”you have about a decade of explanation actually,” she giggled, her light blue eyes was fixed upon him, and Mia felt she was looking into herself through a mirror minus the long hair of course.. Evander quickly poured another cup of water from the kettle and put a tea bag in the cup. He grabbed both cups and handed her the one he had originally made for himself before he gestured towards the table for her to sit at, if they were going to talk about him running away and abandoning her he was at least going to be comfortable. Once seated he let out a sigh and began his story. "They mentally abandoned me the very moment I picked the raven, Mysie... What was I supposed to do? Sit there and take it while the people that were supposed to love me turned around and rejected who I am? I was confused and hurt... I couldn't take it anymore." He rubbed his forehead and then sipped his tea. He hated talking about his family because it always brought back the horrible feelings he had towards everyone but his twin.
Evan swallowed the lump in his throat and continued, "I... I stayed as long as I did because of you but I longed for freedom. I needed to be free of their expectations of me because I would never be able to live up to that." He let out a groan and wanted to stop his tail but he forced himself to continue. "I feared that one day they would force their feelings about me on to you... My nightmares were filled with your rejection and I knew I wouldn't be able to stand myself if I had to see the look they gave me reflected on your face. I left because I needed my last memory of you to be a good one." He told his story and was mentally and emotionally exhausted from it. The Croft family had really done a number on Evander and it was evident when he was forced to speak of them. He rested his chin on the table like a child would and looked up at her, "I wanted to go back for you... But I could never bring myself to see them again. That's why I sent you the letter... Hoping you'd one day want to see me again... If only just to beat the shit out me."

Outfit for thread: linkThe suffering was the beginning of his conversation; Mysie was no stranger to how the Crofts dealt with family members who didn't stick with tradition, and Evander was not one to follow conventional means because he was always dreamy and looked above yearning for the freedom of the skies. Still, the older twin completely believed that there were plenty of alternatives to pick from or other plans to follow since; how can a teenager survive on his own in a world which was mean even to the adults? ”You could have stayed,” she motioned with an accusing index finger, ”play along their whims until the time you were ready to leave,” otherwise it was going to be harsh, and harsh Evander had it indeed but Mysie had had no true knowing of such yet, ”if you had told me whatever you had in mind; I could have helped you,” and this was one of the reasons Mysie felt betrayed; Evander just decided that it was time to go, and that he did without a proper goodbye. ”The last memory of you was 'abandonment',” Mysie reached for his hand while looking into his eyes with a serious glare, ”tell me what I am supposed to feel about that,” she hummed back at him sounding it up as if it was a question although it was not, ”you are my twin for God's sake,” she stated up the only true fact, ”they aren't capable of changing my mindset about you,” because of reasons, ”we are two peas in a pod,” although Evander was honest about his own reason for sudden departure; Mysie didn't buy it, still she didn't make a fuss about it. ”Well, I wanted to punch you in the teeth,” Mysie uncovered her early plans, ”but when I saw you; I couldn't bring myself into doing that,” she returned back to her seat, ”now give me that tea,” since the falcon shifter was very thirsty, ”and tell me how did you make it until now without money?” and this was a big riddle. Evan's head whipped up off the table so he could look her in the eyes, "You're telling me I should have stayed and played along? How could you wish that upon me? They wanted me to be something I am not, to force myself to take the form that kept me grounded while my head had always longed to be in the clouds. Forcing myself to be a canine so my parents would love me the way they already should have wasn't a fair choice for them to give me." The very thought of it made Evander angry and it was evident in his voice, he wasn't mad at her obvious just at what his family did to him mentally and forced him to do later. "I was starved for their affection. Craved it like nothing else. But the day I decided I wanted to soar above the clouds rather than run with the pack I became nothing more to them than an inconvenience. You don't know how that feels. I was a child! It is truly heart breaking for a child when you see your parents and siblings look at you like you mean nothing to them. I couldn't keep living like that!" He insisted. Sure, what he did to Mysie wasn't right but what the rest of the Croft's did to Evander was just down right cruel. They had traumatized him for life, no amount of therapy could fix the broken child he had become. He was good at hiding his truth with charming smiles and a flirtatious attitude but underneath that all there was still a child needing love and attention. No amount of love or attention to this very day had fixed even the slightest bit of his broken heart either.
He sighed and rubbed his eyes with the index finger and thumb of one hand. He never thought he would get the chance to explain himself and now that he had the opportunity to do so he wasn’t even sure that it was enough, “If I had told you then you would have wanted to come. They loved you, Mia… I couldn’t find it in myself to pull you away from the life they would have provided you to come live with me on the streets of Las Vegas. At that point I wasn’t even sure where I was going even. I just took to the skies and stopped where my heart felt like it could take a rest.” He wasn’t even sure she would forgive him for his transgression but he had to try, right? “I was already broken and hurt… My mind too far warped from their treatment of me to see clearly… They were supposed to love me unconditionally and yet they didn’t so how in that state of mind was I to believe that your opinion of me wouldn’t change? Abandoning you wouldn’t have crossed my thoughts if I was in the right state of mind but they ruined me, okay?” Oh how he hated the Croft pack even more for making him have this conversation with his own twin sister.
Then she revealed that she had planned to punch him but didn’t‒much to his relief‒and asked how he had done it; cultivated a life without any money to his name. He slid the tea towards her carefully and begun his tale, “I was homeless for a little while and slept in a tree as a bird. I did go to school though. I knew I had to finish school at the very least, finished second in my class even. I started doing odd little jobs here and there. People are always quick to hire someone who is charming, I’ve learned… That took care of me for a bit. Then I… Well… I’ll be honest with you… After I graduated I became a stripper. Up until fairly recently I remained one so I could afford this place. Now I am a bar tender at multiple places in the city.” He shrugged, it felt a little weird to tell Mysie that he had been a stripper. He could only imagine her face but now he would be able to see it and that mildly amused him.

Outfit for thread: linkThere was nothing really Mysie was able to tell him; she grasped the anger within his voice – the same emotion that she felt resonating within her in retrospect – that he no longer was capable of accepting the crofts as his family to begin with, after what had been done to him. However, if there was a time machine to return back almost a decade back, and if he had chosen to confide with her; then definitely she would have asked him more of his patience, soothed his heart when in dark times, defended his persona when needed according to her own capabilities, and they could have preserved together until they were free to do as they wished. Evander didn't understand that when he looked above and kept the heavens within his sights something stirred with Mysie's heart. Eventually, she looked up as well and desired the same kind of freedom as if he lulled her into his own conviction although unintentionally through the blood and the sibling's ties they shared. ”Certainly, I don't know what that would feel,” a comment drawn about feeling the scorn of one's family since Mia never chose the path of direct confrontation; she played the 'dog' with flying colors thus deceiving the crofts, and eventually bid her time, ”if you told me then I would have asked to wait until the time we deem ourselves prepared,” that she told him knowing very well that this conversation wouldn't change anything of the past; indeed what had been done, had been done, ”I am not sure honestly if they still like me the way you think,” Mia came to Las Vegas after all keeping the crofts at thousands of miles at distance against their desires to remain in Scotland, ”I no longer shift into a canine either, brother,” she confessed to him, ”but the Crofts need not to know about this,” because everyone had the right to follow the path their hearts desired most, ”and they don't have the right to know even,” the conversation was so serious that she forgot about the tea, ”but, I was worried about you, nothing more, nothing less,” hence Mysie wasn't that mad at him, her tough love was just acting up a bit. Now, how did he live alone? Mysie kept her lips sealed while her ears were listening intently hoping that her brother didn't do any kind of crimes because that was almost the only way for an old teenager to do for living. The falcon shifter followed the trails of his story; homeless thus she expected, it was indeed miraculous for him to survive as a human by morning and bird by evening, but he was able to get scraps of bread here and there because of his charming looks and attitude; it simply said that Evander was resourceful or rather became stronger due to his act of independence, the he decided to be honest with her about something; something that drove Mia to raise an eyebrow as she felt that whatever was upcoming was supposed to be kept a secret. A moment of silence passed; actually many moments of silence had passed. Did she hear it well? Was this the reason she felt cold even in summer nights? Mysie crossed her arms hugging herself feeling that she was the one getting naked and not him, and that's when she regained her senses. ”What?” Mysie stood up while her face took the features of a mixture between being dumbfounded and astonished in the same time, ”you did what?” Mia couldn't believe it; she didn't look down into strippers per say, but she didn't want for Evander to suffer getting naked for the sake of living by, ”that's why you should have waited,” she motioned with her arm yelling at him, ”you needed not to suffer this,” Mysie was not angry at him, on the contrary, she was angry for him. Evander looked at her as she jumped up and yelled, angry about what he had to do to live. He wasn’t ashamed of having been a stripper, not in the slightest. It was born out of necessity but in the end it helped provide him with some sort of attention. “I know it makes you angry that I became a stripper to live but I don’t regret the choices… I would rather spend the rest of my working life taking my clothes off for women than spend even one more day than I had living under Lennox and Ainsley’s roof.” He admitted. His used of his parents’ names were further proof of the distance Evander had mentally placed between him and the remainder of the Croft’s, the distance was not just relative to their locations. “Mia… I completely understand the way you feel over my choices. I know I didn’t make good decisions but even though I regret leaving you behind I wouldn’t change them for anything. Carbry and Caillean were awful to me with all their bullying. Ramsay just laughed when he saw me… Slaine wouldn’t even look at me. Lennox stopped calling me his son. Ainsley… I think she just preferred to pretend I didn’t exist… Less shame that way I guess. I couldn’t live like that anymore and I refused to pretend I was someone that I am not for their pleasure!” he slammed his hands down on the table, this was making him incredibly angry. Talking about them at all made him sick to his stomach and he hated that they still had some control over the way he felt.
Evan sighed and ran his hand through his hair, “Can we please stop talking about them now? To you I should have stayed but to me I made the right choice and we will never agree on any of it so let’s respectfully agree to disagree, shall we?” he asked as he looked up at her with big blue eyes practically begging her to let this go, he wanted to enjoy having his sister here and stop thinking about his damn family and how they treated him. “Instead… why don’t you tell me what you’ve been up to all these years? And perhaps tell me what you shift into and how the hell you have kept it from them?” he let some amusement return to his voice. Knowing that she had deceived the Croft’s in any matter of the word intrigued him highly.
