After the accident, Paige had become bored with her daily activities. She could no longer work, the entire right side–the dominant side–was bandaged up and sore and while her arm was supposed to be in a sling as per her doctor's–one she reluctantly went to after Cami patched her up–orders but she choose to ignore that one for the most part. Nightly high speed motorcycle rides had unfortunately been turned into painfully boring walks around the city while her wounds healed. She loathed what this injury had done to her, making her feel crippled and weak.
Tonight though, well that was especially boring. She had left her American bulldog and Boxer at home this evening after they practically ripped her shoulder out of socket for the fifth time since her accident on their earlier walk, she finally gave in and asked her neighbor for help walking them and the young man was more than willing to help her out while she was on the mend. Paige was restless though and still needed some fresh air, and ended up in Central Park somehow. Even though she wasn't allowed to live dangerously for the time being she decided to do so in a quasi-fashion and walked off the trail, getting herself lost in trees and wild animals. Despite being a city dweller from time to time Paige liked to wander off into the woods around New York, and this was probably as close she was going to get for a little while.
There was a slight nip in the air so she went to zip her jacket up. She looked down to connect the ends of her zipper when something on the ground caught her eye. The young werewolf’s head tilted to the side as she zipped her jacket up halfway before she knelt down to pick the object up. It was a necklace with a stone she couldn’t quite identify and it couldn’t have been there for long by the condition it was in. She knew someone must be missing it so she looked around and tuned her ears in on her surroundings as she stood up. She heard rustling of the foliage around her and hoped that it was the person this belonged to and not just some wild animal. “Hello?” she called into the wooded area.

Fuck, fuck, fuck! He knew he dropped it around here somewhere! He couldn't lose it now, not when he'd only just begun to regain a semblance of his human life. He was out of his mind, not thinking straight, snapping at humans who got too close, not caring who saw him. Let them think a wolf had escaped from the zoo. He didn't care. Finding the damn moonstone meant more to him than keeping to the shadows. The wind changed direction and he stopped dead in his tracks. He caught the scent of another werewolf and without taking the time to consider anything, he raced after it. If another werewolf realized what the moonstone was, he'd never get it back. He burst through the bushes as he heard a curious hello. Not caring who she was or what her intentions were, he instantly reacted, approaching her with his fangs bared and hackles raised. He let out a demonic snarl and took a threatening step towards her. More than anger and more than hated, he was filled with fear. His eyes connected with the moonstone in her hand. How could he have been so stupid to drop it? He was always so careful in the places he hid it...

Paige practically leapt backwards at the snarling and her bad shoulder slammed right into a tree behind her. Despite the wolf looking like he was ready to pounce on her she was a little too distracted from the pain the hit caused and she let out a loud yelp of pain. She was so jarred by this sharp pain shooting through her arm and back that she had nearly dropped the moonstone but with some semblance of her grace managed to scoop it back up before it fell out of her reach and into the mouth of the werewolf. She was ready to transform herself and take this wolf on but when she went to nothing happened. Her eyebrow raised and she looked at the snarling wolf in front of her. “And I thought these were things of legend too.” She smirked and brought it up to eye level to get a closer look at it. She then returned her attention to Drake, “Now, now Cujo. Stop snarling at me and I’ll consider returning it. I have no use for the damn thing anyway, I like being a wolf even with the painful transformations.” She closed her hand around the stone and brought her other hand up to her throbbing shoulder and hissed in pain. If he decided to fight her over the damn thing despite her words she would be in trouble, she might even have to revisit that dinner to have the owner patch her up again. “Look Beethoven, why don’t you transform back into a human‒don’t worry I promise not to eye your junk‒and you can thank me for giving this damn thing back to you rather than acting like a petulant child that had its toy taken away. Then we can both be on our ways and I you won’t have to have your ass kicked by an injured wolf.” She was kidding about the last part but it was her defense mechanism acting up. She looked at him expectantly and waited.

If only it was that fucking easy! Damn it! He growled to himself. This would end up going over so much easier if he could shift... She brought the moonstone up to eye level and he felt himself take a step forward, a snarl erupting from his chest. His heart pounded in his chest, panic driving through his veins. What would happen if she refused to give it back? Would he really kill her just to get it? There was a long pause as his conscious fought over the information... Yes. Yes, he would kill her. No questions asked. He took another step towards her, golden eyes focused on her face. He'd try intimidation first. He knew her last statement was a bluff. He could practically sense her pain. Even if she did shift to protect it, he'd easily be able to take her down. Really, she was putting herself in danger by thinking she was doing the right thing. If she didn't care to keep the moonstone, why the Hell was she fighting to keep it safe?
He took another step towards her, his full body finally emerging from the shadows. Normally, werewolves, at night, could be mistaken for large dogs but Drake was an exception. Nearly standing at her waist, his entire being was nothing short of a monster from nightmares. Chiseled muscles rippled under dark fur and long claws glinted like knives in the moonlight. His golden eyes, appearing to glow in the darkness, were intelligent and daring, a terrifying prospect for someone who didn't want to be eaten. He let out another threatening growl. Just drop the stupid thing and get moving. He wasn't even thinking about the idea of recruiting her for the pack. He just wanted the moonstone back.

Paige wasn't afraid of the snarling wolf and for the most part managed to ignore his sounds. She almost wanted to see what he would do to get this stupid stone back. Adrenaline started pumping through her veins and she could hear the blood thumping loudly in her ears as he took another step forward and growled. Once the adrenaline junkie started to get her fix she was even more risky than usual. "Maybe you didn't understand me when I said to stop acting like a petulant child, Fido... Perhaps you're a tad dense so let me make you understand. All of your growling and snarling isn't getting you any closer to getting this stone. In fact the thought of you trying to kill me over it is getting my adrenaline going and is effectively turning me on and unless you plan to solve that problem I suggest you stop doing it. So... Let me use small words for you..." She took a peak around from her peripherals and spotted a pond not too far away from where they stood. It wasn’t big but it would certainly inconvenience him. She returned her attention to him and proceeded with a smirk. "Sit your furry ass down and stop growling at me or I will toss this fucking stone into the damn pond and ruin your evening even fucking more than you are ruining mine. Stop acting like this and you get it back without hassle. Get it yet, Airbud?" She said with a raised eyebrow of challenge. If she ended up having to toss the stone he could bet it wouldn't be as simple as it sounded and she loved a challenge.
