biography
Olivia Raven Thorne was born in 1840 to Liam Thorne and Idrissa. Her mother was from West Africa but was of mixed heritage. Half African, half Native American. Making her lighter than others. She had soft caramel skin that never aged or grew wrinkles. Long, dark hair ran down the length of her back to her tail bone. She was petite and gentle. Always positive and giving. She was a paid housemaid to a high class family in New Orleans. The family was kind enough to take her in as a person and not just a piece of property, and even included her in their yearly travels across the world. She was almost like family, watching and teaching the kids, she was even close with the lady of the house. But she still knew her place. She also was considered, to the poor, middle and rich classes, to be the best Voudon (West African version of Voodoo) Queen in New Orlean's at the time. Traditional cures and rituals consisted of wishing for luck, cure an illness, or even revenge. She also could hold spiritual seances and perform exorcism's. In 1839, at the age of 21 she one day met a young, red haired handsome man named Liam Thorne. He was a new doctor from England and was called by the man of the house to aid his sick wife. Idrissa tried all she could to help the lady of the house but the man of the house demanded 'professional' help. He was charming and intellectual. He was even a gentleman, which was a good trait to have in the South considering her heritage. Liam had seemed to have taken an interest in her too. Making flirtacious moves he had no problem letting her know what he thought of her. This flattered her, making her cave in to go on an outing with him. That was the thing back then. Liam was from London, England originally but his mother was from Ireland. Giving him his red hair and straight-forward attitude. Liam and Idrissa soon fell in love and got married. The family Idrissa worked for held it at their house and congratulated the commitment.
After the wedding the two left for their honeymoon and construction of the Thorne Manor started right away. The newlyweds were gone for a year and by the time they returned to New Orleans the manor was nearly completed. After a year and a half the manor was finally finished and just a few months after it's completion the family welcomed their first child. Olivia was a happy baby but was known to get into everything. When she learned how to talk she was a bit demanding but nothing compared to how she is today. Seven years later the couple were surprised by another pregnancy and nine months later Hayden was born. Olivia didn't like the fact she had to share her parent's attention at first, but eventually he would grow on her and from that point on Olivia would always help her mother take care of her little brother.
When her brother was still young the doctors discovered he had a heart defect. At the time modern medicine was not as advanced as it is today. The doctors attempted many methods but none were effective. Due to their mother being a Magi however Hayden had a chance at life compared to normal children. As much of a chance Hayden had at living it didn't cure his defect and from that moment on Olivia promised to take care of him and protect him always.
Olivia wouldn't show her true potential with magic until the day her brother would almost drown. One evening Olivia was told to go fetch her brother and she did so willingly. She searched the whole property but still couldn't find him and was starting to get worried. For the last place to look she decided to check the lake by their house. When she got there though she saw no one in sight and was about to leave when she saw bubbles in the water. Upon further inspection she could see ripples in the water as if something was moving around underwater and just as she reached the edge she saw the tip of a finger above the water. Quickly realizing it was Hayden she pulled her shoes off and tossed her shaw on the ground before diving into the water. Once her arms were around him she swam back up to the surface and swam with him to the edge. After pulling him up onto land she used a bit of her Magic to pull the water from his lungs, not knowing CPR at the time, and saved his life.
Around the age of 16 in 1856 Olivia's father decided it was time for her to marry. Sadly she had yet to meet someone who swept her off her feet but her father promised her he would find her a suitor. As good as her father's intentions were Olivia was not going to be forced into an arranged marriage. For a year her father brought home eligible bachelors but none of them ever were successful. Spiteful towards her father she, along with the help of her brother, would practically scare away the men her father forced her to marry, or in one case drive him crazy. It wasn't until Olivia met Michael that she would finally settle down.
After a year of dating they married. Olivia moved out of the Thorne manor to live with her new husband. After 2 years of trying the couple finally welcomed their first child, a daughter. Sadly when the child was born she was premature and didn't make it through the night. The couple was devastated and for the next year they kept trying but with no success. After 3 years of marriage the Civil War broke out and Michael was drafted. Olivia pleaded for him not to go but he had no choice. In April of 1861 that would be the last time she ever saw her husband.
In the beginning of May of that same year Olivia moved back home just in time to take care of her dying mother. Hayden being only 13 at the time Olivia took over the task of taking care of him as well. A few months later, Idrissa unexpectedly dies from blood loss. Although the townspeople were told it was due to her ill heath, the family knew otherwise. Because of her Magi blood she was attacked and drained by a vampire. The family never found out what vampire did it but in the end the family was devastated.
Though the who family was devastated, their father was the one that took it harder than anyone else. Also during this time the Thorne treasury was quickly declining due to the state of New Orleans during the war. In order to make sure his children were taken care of he set up a deal with his boss, saving them from bankruptcy in exchange for Olivia's hand in marriage. As much to her dismay she reluctantly agreed this time and the engagement began that same year.
Despite Olivia's marriage being the savior of their financial wealth, Olivia's father Liam couldn't stand to be alive without his wife any longer. He contemplated killing himself but he couldn't do that to his children. Unfortunately he wouldn't have to as in August of 1862 the Thorne Manor caught fire, claiming the life of Liam Thorne and almost Olivia as well. Hayden was able to save his sister from the fire but their father wasn't so lucky. After the funeral the family was left broke.
Due to her engagement however Olivia would be taken care of. The two decided to seek out a new home after the fire since the Thorne Manor was practically unlivable, though it still stood. Olivia's husband decided he wanted to leave Louisiana and to her dismay they did. They sought out for California, San Francisco to be exact. Olivia's fiance said he had business there and afterwards they would settle down into their new home. Olivia promised as soon as they settled down some place she would send for Hayden to live with them until he married, but that day would never come.
The couple stayed in San Francisco for two months. They were no where near finding a permanent home and after many times of Olivia asking when they were going to leave the two eventually got into a fight. Little did everyone know Olivia's fiance was a drunk. He had a habit of drinking and gambling and even though he was rich, not many people liked him. One night Olivia and her fiance were arguing and ultimately Olivia stormed out. In an attempt to hide from her abusive and controlling fiance she took shelter in a near by brothel. Thankfully for her her fiance was not well liked in that part of San Francisco and upon his arrival a fight between him and a man he owed money to broke out, resulting in the death of her fiance. With no money and no way to get back home to New Orleans she had no choice but to stay. As much as she would hate herself for it she was offered to work in the brothel she hid in and remained there for a year.
In December of 1863 Olivia was making her way back to the brothel when she was attacked by a vampire. She attempted to fight him off but he didn't hesitate to quickly sink his teeth into her and began to drain her dry as if time was running out. He must have been a newborn and attracted to her blood, but just moments before her heart was to stop another vampire intervened and killed the newborn. Just moments from death the vampire ultimately decided to save Olivia from death and turned her.
After the transformation Olivia was bound to him. With her new sire she left California and until his death she always remained by his side. Soon after her transformation the two headed for Europe, traveling to places such as Great Britain, France, and Russia. Never have traveled out of the States, Olivia was ecstatic with the new change in scenery. Although they only remained in each country for a month, Olivia couldn't complain about her new life if she compared it to her old one. After only three months with her sire the two headed to Russia. Olivia absolutely hated the cold despite being cold blooded herself. Even with the snow and cold secretly Russia would end up being Olivia's favorite country, besides America, so far.
One night while sitting alone in their temporary home Olivia was growing increasingly bored. Upon opening up a book to read a ticket fell from between the pages. Olivia was never told about any tickets and after reading the contents she learned of a exclusive werewolf arena. The ticket was her sire's but after some thought she figured she could easily play off as if she had no idea what happened with the ticket and instead would use it for herself. Little did she know that the ticket she had would be a winner and Olivia, and her sire, a bit richer.
While at the arena Olivia met a tall, blonde man and was instantly infatuated. The two began to talk and after the arena closed the two spent the night together. Liv feared her sire would become possessive and ruin their fun, so for months the two met in secret. As time went on Olivia started to secretly develop feelings other than purely physical for the tall Russian, feelings she hadn't felt since Michael but she remained quiet about it. When Olivia and her sire finally left Europe to go back to the States Olivia was upset but she had no choice and figured she'd never see him again. As much as she believed this to be true shortly after their arrival to the States the tall Russian that was known by the name Andrei Belkov made a surprise visit. At the time Olivia had no idea why he was here or what his true intentions were but regardless she was secretly happy to see him again.
However the happy reunion would not last once Andrei finally learned who Olivia's sire was. Without Olivia's knowledge her sire and Andrei were far from friends and had been so for a long time. Once Andrei learned of this the two's relationship would forever change. As much as Olivia cared for the Russian, after the reveal of Olivia's sire tension grew between the two. Eventually the relationship would become strained and ultimately over. This sudden change in their relationship would be caused by the death of her maker by the hands of her lover. Although Olivia did not share the same feelings for her sire as she did Andrei, the severed connection was too hard for Olivia to handle and after the discovery of her sire's death she broke it off with Andrei and left to return back to New Orleans. To this day Olivia still doesn't know why Andrei had killed her sire and feels she may never learn the truth.
Heartbroken and lost Olivia made her way back home in hopes of finding her brother. She knew Hayden would not be so welcoming upon learning of her 'death' but she had to see her brother one last time. For a time she contemplated killing herself but in the end her brother would be the one to save her. Once home she took shelter in the burnt down Thorne manor that still stood. No one had bothered to tear it down or rebuild it so for the next few days it was Olivia's home again. Although she had sought out to find her brother, she quickly learned Hayden along with Katherine had moved back to Katherine's house so her search for him ceased for a while.
One late evening while Olivia was feeding she was interrupted, bringing out the animal in her and without much thought she pulled away from her meal and was about to go for the intruder but quickly realized who it was. Before she could say anything her brother ran off. She didn't follow. She ended up not seeing him for another couple of days and was planning on simply leaving without pursuing. To her surprise he was at the old homestead on her apparent last night there but her plans quickly changed.
After the two talked for some while Olivia revealed what she had been doing during the whole time she was gone. She regretted ever leaving and feared her brother would hate her for it but he didn't, relieving Olivia of the weight on her chest. After only an hour of chatting however Hayden received a massive heart attack, forcing Liv to take action quickly and to save her brother. While Hayden was transitioning she sought out her best friend and sister-in-law only to find her transitioning as well. When she arrived she happened upon a bloodbath and even though she had caused quite a few herself in the past the sight still bothers her even to this day. After searching the bodies and still no sign of Liv she searched the rest of the house and was able to catch the vampire feeding Katherine his blood just in time. In a fit of rage Olivia charged for him and demanded he leave at once. Once the vampire was gone Olivia had no choice but to bury her friend or she would die by morning. It had seemed while Liv was away Louisiana became increasingly populated with vampires, and with the fact of a Magi living in her best friends house, it was only a matter of time before the house was invaded.
After years of traveling the states with her brother, and after the tragic death of her best friend, in the early 1950's Liv settled in Las Vegas and opened a vampire club, Red Velvet Kiss.
