Legends, whether extraordinary or mundane, represent the lands history and of it's possible future. They all share a common goal to spread a message to the people and give them something exciting to dream about. One legend however stood higher than all the rest, not because of the lesson is told or the adventure and intrigue one finds from such tales, but because of the fact it was true. Centered in the country of Carpathia a legend spoke of three crystals that resided within the land. These crystals were known to have extraordinary powers and said to have been crafted by gods when they forged the world into creation. No one knew of their immediate location but the legend told they could be found within the three oldest natural land formations. Deep within the Mountains of Lebon, the Western Bluffs, and a volcano that sat in the center of the Tropical Islands to the east. Eventually one stone was recovered from the Western Bluffs by the kingdom of Dementia, who used it for evil instead of good. The stone burned through forest lands, decimated towns and villages in its path, and killing those who stood in the way of the twisted king. A king like a god is a scary thing. Species began to take sides in which started a war between the kingdoms. The elves, witches and all other magical beings fought over land, power, and the sacred crystals. The royal army of Amaria failed to act soon enough and a country wide war quickly followed suit. The Royal Guard tried their best to fight off the horde of dark creatures, but it was an ill attempt.
Dementia pushed through, and some say, opened the gates to hell itself. In an attempt to rival Dementia, Amaria went to seek the other stones. Another was recovered from the Lebon Mountains and the playing fields were even. But with war already present both crystals were corrupted. They both would soon seek the destruction of magical beings from the land in order to protect themselves but it only made it worse. After 2,000 years of war the stones themselves disappeared without a trace. Years went by and without the power of the crystals and both sides weak peace soon settled in the villages, cities and towns. That was to say, until centuries later the third crystal was found mysteriously washed up on shore by a farm boy in Kendra. Scared that it may be used again for evil, the boy hid it underneath the hay, and did not speak of it. But the witches knew. They came to the farm to protect it. They worried for their kind, when others would use it to corruptly win over the land.
The witches took the ancient stone and fled the farm. The boy, who was scared it was a thief, reported it to the noble men of Amaria. This was a terrible mistake. News of the third stone brought soldiers to hunt for it, and kings to want it. Meade halls roared about it but nobody found it. Nobody saw the stone. Now, it is a search for this last artifact, for whoever holds it in their possession has the power to resurrect hell and bring a plague across the lands or unite the land once and for all in eternal peace. Now, ten years after the third crystal was found it is the year 2012 A.T (Amaria Time) and the war is quiet but present. The Vampires want it to protect themselves from the Werewolves, as they are in a war with them as well as to walk in the sun. The Werewolves would like the crystals so they can once become human and the Elves simply wish to keep the crystal hidden away from any who desire to possess it with evil intent. Although the different races have different reasons, the humans are in it too. Some want to rule over all creatures, some just want to keep it hidden away, even study its properties. Now, I must ask, where do you fit in on this story? Are you the farm boy? Or the band of witches? Maybe you’re the demons waiting in their cage to fight once again. Whoever you are, you’re welcome here.
