Andrei nodded again, committing it to memory to make sure that he got to know Kitty and that hurting Liv wasn't his objective, even if it happened just a little. "Thank you, syestra." He said before he looked away.
Then he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into his side for a one armed hug. "I care about you, Anya, and not in my vampire sense of the word... That is why I apologized... You're the only person that knows me for me, and not what vampirism and heartbreak turned me into. The only person I confide in when I am in pain. You're the one person I trust not to kick me when I am down." He told her softly before releasing her, "And for the record, I forgive you. I deserved that smack really." He admitted casually.

"Any time," she said.
She let him hug her and listened to his words with a small smile. She knew all of that and it was one of the reasons Anya got so irritated when he talked about how much better it would be if he didn't care. She happened to like his softer side. It was rare enough already.
"It worked too," she said with a small laugh. "You stopped sulking and pining over the hurt. Seriously, though. It's probably a good thing you came by today. I probably wouldn't have been quite so heated, but I had to babysit for a friend today. It heightened my sensitivity, I guess. So tell me about your first impression of your daughter."
She turned to sit indian style on her couch so she was directly facing Andrei. This was basically Anya's way of killing whatever negativity or seriousness still hung in the air, replacing it with some lightness. Besides, she was curious about this niece. That and she was journalist and a cat. Curiosity was her epic flaw.

He hummed in acknowledgement of why she was sensitive today, "Understandable." he said before he shifted on the couch so he was facing Anya just little more. A small smile graced his lips as he slipped into a more comfortable frame of mind.
"She has Olivia's damn sarcasm, that's for sure." He didn't actually resent that in the slightest and it was evident in his voice, "Keeps her intentions to herself which definitely isn't good when you're trying to find out information about her." he scrunched up his face in thought. "I didn't get to learn a whole lot about her unfortunately but I hope I get to. I'm not happy that I have to go through Liv... She can tell Kitty basically anything she wants about me and get the girl to hate me before I get to see her again. I honestly wouldn't put that past her at this point." He ended that one a more bitter note and shook it off before continuing, "She's perfect though... I hope you get to meet her. Preferably before I fuck it all up." He thought for a moment and something dawned on him, "I wonder how Alex is going to take this..." he thought out loud.

She scoffed a little at some of the comments but all-in-all she was amused. That was until he fessed up about his concern of Olivia's motives beyond this point. She couldn't blame him. It was always a possibility.
"You know if you do fuck it up, I could always still meet her," she teased. "I'm not a journalist for nothing. Random statistic interview could work for getting to know the girl. Nah, I wouldn't be that mean. As for Alex, I think she would be happy that the overprotectiveness will shift a little and not constantly be directed on her. The girl could use some breathing room."
Yes, she was determined to keep the mood light. So if that meant teasing her brother, she would do it.

Andrei rolled his eyes and laughed, "Hey! I'm not that bad with Alex. I'm trying to let go. I just don't want anything to happen to her. I need her to make it home every night. Partly for her mother but mostlyfor me. Not entirely sure what I would do without the little squirt that got me hooked on ice cream when she was little." he smiled at the memory.
"Nonetheless, I just don't want it to be weird for her. I am going to try my hardest not to fuck up a possible relationship with Kitty but Alex is still, well... Alex is still the little squirt that I love like a daughter. But you're right, I'm sure she'll be happier without me watching her every move. No denying that" he admitted with the wave of his hand, "I'm excited to get to know Kitty though. Really excited actually." he said with a full blown grin.

She raised an eyebrow at his comment about not being that bad. She would counter that and list examples if she thought it would be worth it. It really wasn't especially when he continued on. She scrunched her face up in distaste and shook her head.
"I don't get how you can stand that," she said. "I mean I get ice cream is supposed to be yummy for most people but you're a vampire. I thought you couldn't eat that crap in the first place."
It was no secret she couldn't stand ice cream at all and of course she had to voice that distaste even just mildly. Granted, she found it weird that a vampire could actually like it, especially her brother.
"Only one way to find out how that squirt will feel about this," she said. "You have to tell her. My suggestion is tell her before you confront Olivia. The more you think of Kitty as your daughter and the less you worry about Olivia until you actually face her."

"It's mostly a memory thing. Alex would wander away from home when she was little and I would go find her. She would insist on getting ice cream first so I would always get her some. When I didn't get any for myself, which I never did, she would share with me. She made me eat ice cream with her. At first I didn't enjoy it but in the end it became our thing. When I left to insure her families safety I ate it because I missed her. Now I am just used to it." his eyes had glazed over as he relived what he had said but then he blinked and returned to the present to look at Anya. "I expect you not to tell anyone I am sentimental... You're the only one that knows the whole ice cream story and I would like to keep it that way, please." he requested, not wanting anyone else to know his softer side because he considered it a weakness.
He shook his head, "It is only a matter of time before Kitty tells her mother–" he scoffed "–that she met me, not knowing who I am or how Olivia feels about me. I have to make a move today before I lose my chance. After I talk with Liv then Alex is my next step. She will be told before I actually get to meet Kitty outside of a stiff encounter at the club. That I promise."

Okay that was one of the sweetest things she had ever heard come out of her surly brother. That was saying a lot because she couldn't remember the last time he was ever sweet about anything. It was a rarity that Anya instantly decided to commit to memory. She knew that she would most likely have to wait a while for him to ever talk like this again. That didn't mean she couldn't take advantage of it a little. So when he said he expected her to keep this to herself, she blinked innocently at him.
"Who would I possibly tell this once in a blue moon's occurence to that would, my dear sweet brother?" she asked. "Granted I could make an interesting article about how even a surly vampyric assassin can be all crusty and grr on the outside but is really an ooey gooey marshmallow on the inside. It would be an amazing piece to put something like this down in his history."
She was teasing him, of course. She wouldn't actually do anything like that. Even if she did, she would keep it discreet. Her goals never included embarrassing her loved ones or anyone for that matter. Whenever she decided to write anything about any specific individual, she normally generalized the information somehow. For smaller pieces at least. The more in depth ones sometimes couldn't be generalized.
"Well that makes sense," she said. "I wish you luck with that one though. Even if you don't need it."

Andrei chuckled, "I swear if an article like that shows up I will find you and I will mercilessly pester you for the rest of our lives... You know... More than I already do." he said with a playful tone. He didn't care either way, as long as no one knew he was the one with the soft spot for a child and her young love of ice cream he was good. "It would definitely make people think differently of vampires. That I must admit." he said with a shrug.
The Russian groaned at the mention of luck, "I suppose I should go take care of the situation with Liv while I am still in a good mood, huh?" he actually dreaded this conversation and almost wished it didn't have to happen.

She laughed at the harmless threat and shook her head. She couldn't help but be amused. Then again, she knew she was one of the very few that would likely never get a real nasty threat from him. At least not ones he meant to carry out.
"Go ahead," she said. "I'll just pester you right back and we'll be going in circles for the rest of our lives. If you want to waste time with that, far be it for me to stop you."
She stood up as returned the topic to his ex-. She stretched lazily and nodded.
"Probably a smart idea," she said. "Plus, I'm actually kind of tired. I forgot how exhausting babies can be."

His brow raised, "Wait... You're telling me you don't already pester me? I'd hate to see what pestering looks like if that's the case..." Andrei teased lightly, with a small smile. "Mama and papa would be rolling their eyes at us right now if they were here." he mused, almost wishing they were because that meant he'd be human and life wouldn't be so complicated.
Then he stood up and straightened himself out, doing what he could to tame his unusually messy hair by brushing it back. "Alright, syestra. I'll let you go sleep. I need to go clean up the disaster area that I have become before I go confront Liv. I'm not going to give her the satisfaction of knowing she has upset me."

"I didn't say that," she pointed out. "I said I would pester you back, which only means it would be more than the little sister requirement dictates. And to be fair, mama and papa are probably stuck in some sort of constant eye roll because they forgot how to stop."
Thinking about it, it wasn't hard to believe. Between Andrei's perpetual bad attitude and her own numerous bad life choices, their entire existence had to be eyeroll worthy. It just seemed fitting. She smiled at him.
"Things will work out, Rei," she said. "A little positivity wouldn't hurt you, but call me tomorrow so I know you haven't done something stupid and got yourself killed."

He chuckled softly and nodded his head, "Fair enough. And you're right about mama and papa. That is probably true." he said with a smile.
He leaned over and hugged her for just a handful of seconds, feeling like the moment deserved one but not caring much for too much affection either, "I'm not one for positivity but I do promise not to get myself killed. I wouldn't do that too you. I'll let you know what happens though." he sighed lightly, "Thanks again for just being you, Anya. Don't know what I would do without you. I'll see myself out." he said before he headed for the door, feeling both more relieved and more nervous than he was upon his arrival.
