History
[attr="class","appcontent2"]Some men are born for greatness, others have it thrust upon them. To Salem's immense displeasure he has some how managed to simultaneously fall into both categories. The would take almost a century for the later to occur.
Born into the famed Caldwell family, known for their involvement in helping establish one of the largest covens in the New World, the man was born with a silver spoon in his mouth at the turn on the twentieth century. Charles and Vivian Caldwell were wealthy, well connected Magi who wanted nothing more than to make the world safe for their kind and their child. The recent establishment of the Scarlet Council had granted them just such an opportunity and, like their ancestors, they wiggled their way into the order. As far back as Salem can remember his family has always been part of the Council. In his earlier, formative years his father had been among the council's Guardians while his mother had taken up a position working within the bureaucratic system. Their manor was a constant whirl of activity, paperwork, and talks about the political ramification of this or that. Despite their busy schedules the elder Caldwell's did their best to provide a stable family environment for their young son.
From an early age it was evident that Salem had a general disregard for authority. Whether it was due to his parents involvement with the Council or some predisposition is up for debate. Whatever the reason, the boy seemed completely oblivious to any sort of boundary that was set before him. Whether it was set at school or by his parents the rules presented to him were flouted and the repercussions for disobeying them were quickly forgotten. It was difficult to stem Salem's behavior issues. With what little time they had with their son they attempted to dwell on the positives. It wasn't until he was nearly ten that a solution presented itself to them in the form of a visitor. William Caldwell, former patriarch of the Caldwell family and an original settler of the Thirteen Colonies, had finally returned home after an extended journey.
