Amberlyn Montgomery

[attr="class","appcontent2"]Amberlyn, or better known to the locals as Amber, is described to be a rambunctious woman with an eye for fashion and the mouth of a sailor. Curious by nature she is also promiscuous by choice and constantly craves attention, whether bad or good is of no preference. She is stubborn, strong-willed, and extremely opinionated but would counteract these as being loyal, compassionate, and confident in what she wants in life - and how to get it.

With her the word no simply isn't in her vocabulary. She isn't afraid to say it but when aimed at her she doesn't accept it as a valid answer. Relentless is often used when describing her during these kinds of situations and will fight for what she wants, and what she believes in. Amber is also a fiercely loyal friend, reliable to the end, and has a steady moral compass that prevents her from becoming too shallow to maintain friendships. Because of her free-spirited nature and drifter habits she tends to shield off her emotions from those shes unfamiliar with, preventing her from letting anyone get too close, but because of her outgoing and courageous personality and need for attention she's bold enough to give people a chance to prove themselves before closing off to them completely. This often times makes her a bad judge of character and makes her no stranger to trouble. Once crossed however she isn't as easily forgiving as she is friendly and only needs one mistake to make you on her blacklist for life.

[attr="class","appcontent2"]Like all Merfolk Amber was born on land, in a hospital bed to be specific. But instead of returning to the ocean with her mother Amber remained on land with her father. Because of this her mother was disgraced by her family until she could convince her daughter to embrace her fins. She grew up a fairly normal child in the ports of Massachusetts and received a happy, human like life. Her father, a fisherman, made most of his money from fishing but also ran a small restaurant on the side while her mother took to the waters once healthy enough. Taking after her mother, in more ways than one, Amber protested the consumption of seafood by humans and wasn't afraid to make her father aware of this. Because of her connection to the waters her afflictions became so strong they started to make her physically ill and at the age of 7 they moved South and settled in a more urban setting, though intentionally keeping close to any body of water for her health.

Amber wouldn't manifest her tail until her 13th birthday during a trip to the beach gone wrong. Much like any other sunny day at the beach Amber sunbathed under the suns intense rays when screams filled the air in the distance. A young boy had managed to get caught in the rolling waves and his mother called for help from the beach. As if instinct Amber dashed into the ocean but instead of fighting against the rough waters with arms and legs, she glided through it with fins. Amber didn't have enough time to fully process the transformation until after she brought the boy to the shore, and instead of walking up on two legs she could only scoot up using her arms, dragging her tail behind. The boy lay still on the beach and as she prepared to do CPR the sound of people rushing forward broke her concentration and finally she realized why the sound of screaming wouldn't stop. Retreating back into the water she swam into the deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean and didn't surface until hours later somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico.

When news of her transformation reached the waters her mother made a comeback. The visit was short lived however as Amber had grown resentful of her mothers abandonment and drove her back into the ocean. After this Amber quickly became rebellious. It wasn't long until she discovered her ability to influence people with not only her voice but her supernatural beauty, and even at a young age grew accustom to using it to get what she wanted. Years of this attitude made her spoiled but not towards material objects, but for attention.

This tactic was useful through out high school, managing to land her the title of Head Cheerleader by her Sophomore year and Co-Captain of the Swim team by Junior. She graduated (barely) and traveled further South, spending a year in Miami. When the hot weather started to become to much for her she migrated back North and made this a habit for the next few years to come. Now Amber travels where ever she pleases, taking odd jobs to make ends meet, but one day plans to one day become a famous advocate for sea life.
