Ra knew she couldn't have been six years old. Unless her physical body aged faster than humans, like the Ocampa from Star Trek Voyager. Which would have meant he was robbing the cradle. And he would rob that cradle, he would rob it so hard. Ra shook those thoughts away, remembering that they only just met, and she was a werewolf. Werewolves didn't age that fast. That would be silly. And really inconvenient. Who wants to get old and gray when they turn nine, or have only one chance to mate or never have kids? Seriously, how did the Ocampa even survive on that show?
“It's good to have a place to settle down.”
Ra wasn't sure what he'd do after his career path with Ayanna was over. After they found Paul's killer. Would Ayanna still continue the good fight after that? Would he be able to go home after the way he and his father parted? His dad wasn't the least bit happy that he had chose to partner up with a hybrid, that he chose to hunt the supernatural and fight against humans, but wasn't that the right thing if they were a threat? If they threatened the world? Wasn't that the entire reason he had powers to begin with? To protect the innocent? Ra smiled when Audrey agreed not to steal from Ayanna, but that smile quickly faded away when she laid out her terms. He couldn't blame her. He would have done the same thing in his position.
“Agreed.”
With that said, the waiter brought them their food and went off to serve the other table. Ra took a small bite of the sushi and was pleasantly surprised with how good it tasted, because it looked horrible.
“This is good.”
Eating made him thirsty rather fast, so he grabbed his glass of water and took a sip. Ice cold water was the best thing ever. |

She certainly couldn't disagree with the fact it would be nice to have a place to settle down. People to settle down with would be amazing as well. But one thing at a time. She was going to work on that people thing slowly but surely. Friends and getting Cai back. Family was something she missed greatly during those long six years, but that was alright. She was tough girl and she could handle these things. And a bright smile graces her lips when he agreed not to go after her family. Now that was a weight off her shoulders. Hopefully that meant he wouldn't try to research of her Daddy Dearest either.
'This is good.'
Audrey dug into her food and she nodded in agreement. "Mhm," she mumbled around a mouthful of sushi and she looked at Ra gratefully. She followed suite and took a nice drink of cold water and then she dabbed at her mouth with a napkin before she reached for another bit of sushi with her chopsticks. "Thank you Ra. This is amazing. I've never been too this place but they do really good sushi." She ate more of her meal, more like scarfing it down. She could certainly be more.... elegant or classy when eating, but she was really hungry so she just kept putting more sushi in her mouth until the plate in front of her was empty. She licked a bit of soy sauce from the corner of her mouth and then she pushed her plate away happily. "Thanks again for the food."

Ra looked up to see Audrey assault her sushi with all the strength of a, well... werewolf. A couple of the other people sitting at the restaurant was looking in their direction now, causing Ra to laugh nervously. One kid was mimicking Audrey, going “Rawr!” and gobbling down her food until she was scolded by her parents for poor manners. Even through all of this Audrey was still ten times more ladylike than Ayanna. That was just utterly terrifying.
“Y-you're welcome.”
Ra rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at his plate which was still pretty full, except the small bite he had taken earlier. He was a slow eater on a normal day, but he may as well have been Slow Bro from Pokemon compared to the rate Audrey ate her food. He took another bite out of the sushi, doing his best to ignore the stares. They'd get tired of looking at them eventually.

Audrey smiled at the little girl imitating her and even after the girl was scolded Audrey winked at her making the girl smile. Ah encouraging the little ones! Maybe not the best thing, but hey, it made the girl happy and she was pretty cute. She looked back at Ra when he responded to her thanks, and she took note of his still fairly full plate, flushing a light pink. Oops. Maybe she got a bit carried away. That happened sometimes when she was particularly hungry.
'Did you want desert or anything?'
"Dessert?" she asked blinking. "Sure I'd love some. But I'll wait for you." She was in no rush. It was then that she noticed people were staring and she glanced around and then shrugged sipping her water. Though she hoping it wasn't bothering Ra too much. He was being nice enough to treat her to sushi after all. "What is your favorite kind of dessert?" she asked curiously. There were so many to choose from though.... It was a tough choice for her anyway.

Ra smiled when Audrey winked at the little girl in the table across from them. She was a bad influence by the looks of it. Nothing Ra couldn't handle, though. Ayanna was the Queen of bad influences. Speaking of which, Ra looked at his cellphone real quick. Ayanna hasn't contacted him for anything and he was starting to worry, but he didn't want to leave Audrey. He was having a good time. The best time he had in a good long while. Perhaps he could just run into the bathroom real quick and call to make sure Ayanna was okay. That would ease his mind for the rest of the day.
“Chocolate ice cream. I love anything with chocolate, and sweets, or just candy. Like smarties. You ever have smarties? They're the best candy ever made.”
Great, now he wanted to snack on smarties, but it didn't take much to guess that wasn't on the menu. He'd have to visit a local candy shop or something to find some.
“I need to use the little boy's room real quick. Don't you dare go anywhere.”
Ra excused himself from the table and entered the bathroom. Looking around to see the place was empty, he dialed Ayanna's cellphone number and held the phone to his ear. To his dismay there was no answer on Ayanna's end and while he was holding onto the phone his whole body suddenly shook, his eyes seeing blurred images of a wildcat attacking Ayanna and running down the streets of Vegas. Ra quickly hung up his phone and put it back in his pocket before hurrying back to Audrey.
“I-I have to go. Something came up. I'm going to go ahead and pay for the meal, if you want desert just let me know and I'll make up the difference.” |

Audrey smiled at that and she laughed. "Smarties are good. I prefer Sweettarts though. And... I'd have to say fruit pies are my favorite. Fresh Strawberry pie in those seasons and hot apple pie a la mode too. Yummy." She nodded at Ra when he excused himself and she leaned back in her chair, just people watching until he came back. The check came while he was gone, but she decided to not take a peek and instead examined her nails, and she smiled and waves whens eh caught that little girl watching her again.
'I-I have to go. Something came up. I'm going to go ahead and pay for the meal, if you want desert just let me know and I'll make up the difference.'
She felt a small stab of disappointment spring up, though she found herself nodding at him. "No worries. Things happen. Thank you so much for the food and for ah... Letting me keep your money." She smiled at him and shrugged. "Go ahead and take care of whatever it is you need to take care of, yeah?" She suddenly got an idea though and she reached into her purse pulling out a pen and then she grabbed and napkin and she scrawled her number on it and handed it to him. "You owe me dessert though."

The girl liked smarties obviously they were meant to be together, he didn't care if she wasn't a magi. The boy couldn't turn down a woman with a sweet tooth. Ra was just as disappointed as Audrey when he told her he had to leave, and was thankful the woman understood. Ra was going to make a point to hurt that werecat for forcing him to leave the one place he'd rather be above all others right now. When Audrey wrote her number on a napkin and handed it to Ra, the boy was jumping for joy internally. He actually got a woman's phone number. This was the best day of his life, Ayanna's life being in danger notwithstanding.
“Yes, ma'am!”
Ra grabbed the check and went over to the front counter paying for the dinner with his card before taking his leave of the sushi place to find his partner. Meanwhile, the little girl that was watching them was clapping her hands for the two and smiling, while having no idea at all what any of that stuff meant. The parents just shook their heads. |
