The Goddess, Mayaria, had broken away from the realm of Gods because of her different views on life. While other Gods were creating mortal beings who they demanded worship them, Mayaria wanted to create children of her own, in her own image with her own divine powers. And she did so. She called them the demi-Gods and because of the blasphemous way they had been introduced into the world, they were also shunned from the realm of the Gods. But the Goddess didn’t mind sharing her piece of paradise with them. She had four of them; Reinzi, Crenn, Arran and Balek, and each held a piece of divine power that made them special, Reinzi had the ability to manipulate shadows, Crenn, the ability of Elemental Magik, Arran the abilities of the mind, and Balek, the Magik of Shapeshifting. But they lacked the one thing the other Gods had successfully been able to create with their mortals; humanity.
The Demi-Gods were out of control, constantly fighting against themselves and against Mayaria. Frustrated that her creations had failed, she tried once more but this time, she eliminated the use of Magik. And success. She called them Angels, beings that resembled her but were innocent enough that it was easy to manipulate them. Each had her beautiful wings and immortal good looks but quickly, they gained the attention of the Goddess’s children, the Demi-Gods. Jealous that their mother had chosen new creations to adore, they slipped in among the Angels, teaching the innocent Angels the powers of their Magik which quickly began to darken and pollute the minds of the Angels.
First, it was among those with different Magik abilities but eventually, those without Magik began to be targeted, separating them as too weak and Mayaria was sad. She watched her creations tear each other apart simply because of differences. As punishment for their deeds, Mayaria banished the Demi-Gods to the Other Realm, a place of eternal darkness and chaos and was forced to send her Angels to a mortal realm in the hopes that the influence of other mortals, could calm them down. But she didn’t leave her Magikless Angels without some help. Before she sent them away, she gifted them with Divine weapons, weapons that, once penetrate the body of an Angel with Magik, stripped them of their Magik, leaving them regular Angels once more.
But Chaos only grew. She sent them to a world called Earth where creations called “humans” were currently living. Upon entering the world, they spread their chaos like a disease. They even started putting humans in the middle of their wars. Eventually, the humans began to separate the Angels into two groups; those with Magik were called Demons and those without continued to be called Angels. Much to the anger of the other Gods who looked down and ruled over the humans, humans began to bring the Angels and Demons into their own religion, eventually, basing one main religion on the whole story of the Angels and Demons.
As the infant civilization of humans began to fall away, the Angels and Demons evolved, creating different kinds of demons who’s Magik also evolved as mankind made an impact on their lives. Those Demons with the abilities of the mind, were able to create a “spell” that allowed the Angels and Demons to hide their wings as a tattoo on their backs. It allowed them to blend in with humans easier and suddenly, the game of killing each other became all that harder. Civilizations came and went and still, the Angels and Demons continued to leave their marks on the world. What had started out as petty fights turned into a forever feud that would never end; sentencing them as eternal enemies. Angels no longer use their Divine Weapons simply to strip demons of their Magik. Instead, they’ve taken to killing them out right. The Goddess Mayaria, forever disappointed in her creations, has moved on, leaving them to their own devices.
Most demons have one of the four following powers but also many sub-species of demon are known to inhibit some of their own specific powers along with one of the four below, though their ability to use the main four is weakened compared to non-specific demons.

[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Demon Powers
Most demons have one of the four following powers but also many sub-species of demon are known to inhibit some of their own specific powers along with one of the four below, though their ability to use the main four is weakened compared to non-specific demons.
Elemental Magik: This is the ability to control the four elements; air, water, fire and earth. Through the years, there have been those who were able to control beyond these parameters- ice, blood, lightening, etc.- but it’s a rare ability and usually the demon who wields these powers perishes. As long as there is a source nearby, a demon can seem to create out of thin air. But a demon can only “borrow” such elements from a source, such as a candle for fire, a fountain for water, the ground they stand on for Earth or the very air around them for air.
Abilities of the Mind: This falls into only one general category. Anything the mind does, can be controlled. For instance, emotions, thoughts, words and actions can be controlled. Out of all the demon abilities, this one is the hardest to master and most demons study for years to master these skills. Because of the high free will of human beings, it’s difficult to gain complete control. A requirement for this Magik to work is to have prior knowledge of said person you wish to control. If you wish to cause someone extreme pain by manipulating their nervous system, you need to know, first, the pain tolerance of said human. If you wish to control how someone feels about someone else, you first need to understand how they rate their feelings. These are just some examples. This Ability can never be mastered. Humans are all different and every day, there is something new to learn.
Shadowkinesis: This is the ability to create and manipulate shadows. This is the only Magik where a Demon can literally create shadows out of thin air. But it requires a tremendous amount of the demon’s own energy to do so. The stronger the demon, the more shadows they can create and use.[/ul]
[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Angel Powers
Unlike their brethren, the Demons, Angels contain no Magik at all. Instead, they carry with them Divine Weapons gifted to them by their Goddess. These weapons can appear as anything the Angel wishes and require no actual ammo, be it artillery or ancient weaponry. The only “Special” ability they seem to possess that Angels believe they evolved to have, is the ability to “sense” when a Demon is nearby. Whether it’s the taint of their Magik or something else, Angels are able to tap into this and find their targets. But, however, there are limits to this. The demon they are tracking, needs to have passed through the area recently. Think of it as a dog’s sense of smell. Unless they come across the scent trail, they cannot just find them randomly. So, in other words, an Angel cannot track a Demon on the other side of the world. Scent trails also grow weaker and after twenty four hours, the scent is completely gone.
[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Wings & Flight
Obvious- All angels and demons are born with wings but they also have the ability to hide them against their back in the form of, what humans perceive as, a tattoo. Angels and Demons can also fly but they cannot carry over their own weight and can only fly as far as their stamina will allow. Think of it as running. You cannot run forever, Angels and Demons cannot fly forever.
[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Demon Leaders
There have been many stories, mostly passed down from human generation to human generation, that there are leaders of both the Angels and Demons. It’s part truth. Leaders are based on merit. For instance, the Demon who successfully stays alive for so many years and has a body count behind him, will most likely carry the most demon followers while a demon who has the stronger Magik, might carry other followers. Demons base their “leadership” on their own group ideals. It’s quite possible to have two or even five different demon “leaders” each elected by their own followers.
[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Angel Leaders
Angels actually do have their own leaders. They call them the “Silver Cross” and they are four Angels who basically, fought their way to the top. They control the war against the demons and the distribution of Divine Weapons. They keep and sell contracts and attempt to keep order. As of yet, no Angels have risen to take their places and the Four have remained at their seats for thousands of years.
[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Breeding
[attr="class","ishy-content"]Both Angels and Demons breed much the same way as normal humans however, there are some a few differences for each group.
[/b]: It doesn’t matter the Magik between two parents but if a child is conceived and contains a Magik different from its mother, the chances of its survival are slim to none so most demons tend to find a partner with the same Magik. In a RARE instance a child is born with a different Magik then its mother, it’s quite possible for the demon child to possess BOTH Magik of its mother and father but it normally fades away as they get older.Angels: Since Angels have no Magik, finding a partner is easy. The child of Angels will, however, possess the ability to wield one of their parent’s Divine Weapons. It’s common among Angels to possess a Divine Weapon passed down from parent to child.
Angel/Demon Hybrids*: VERY RARE. These children are normally killed at birth, if they even make it to birth. It’s an extreme taboo and both Angels and Demons look down at the very idea. In fact, a Hybrid of the Angels and Demons, is less powerful than either parents, unable to possess strong Magik or wield a Divine Weapon. Besides their wings, they are basically human.
Angel/Human Hybrids*: This is actually a rather common pairing. To humans, they are technically called Nephilim. There is a 50/50 chance they will be born with the ability to wield a divine weapon. No wings.
Demon/Human*: Hardly ever happens. Offspring become human. No wings.[/ul]

[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Lifespan & Weaknesses
Angels and Demons are immortal but that doesn’t mean they can’t be killed. The most common object to kill a Demon is a Divine Weapon while Angels can be killed with Magik. But it is possible to be killed by human methods as well such as extreme blood loss, decapitation, and suffocation. Gun shots or stab wounds will just heal and poison or disease has no effect. Not only are Demons vulnerable against a Divine Weapon, they can also be weakened through verses and are susceptible to magic from non-demon species if weakened enough. Angels, like humans, need to rest and can be killed or injured by a Divine Weapon as well, but results in the wielder of the weapon becoming corrupted.
[attr="class","ishy-subtitle"]Angel Corruption
Though Angels think they are impervious from each other, they are, in fact, not. A long kept secret was kept from the first generation Angels, something their parents knew only from the Divine Realm. The reason Mayaria gave the Angels the Divine Weapons, was to purge the demons from their Magik. They were not meant to be turned onto other Angels. Killing an Angel at the hand of your own Divine Weapon starts a chain reaction. The Magik purged from Demons remains sealed within the blade of Divine Weapons but once an Angel uses the blade to kill another Angel, the blade releases the Magik stored within in and infects the wielder. Depending on the strength of Magik stored within the Weapon, depends on how long it takes for the infection to take place. Over time, the Angel who was infected, will be corrupt with Magik and will cease to be an Angel, their acceptance of a Magik ability completing the transition. They will become that which they were supposed to be purging; a Demon. Once corrupted Divine Weapons will no longer recognize you as a full Angel.[/div]
