Aurora looked around at the Manhattan club scene she breathed it in. "Ahh nothing like the Manhattan club scene to make a girl go stark craving mad." She said with a smile as she looked around. "Too bad Dash couldn't be here to share this with me. He had some business to take care of in Las Vegas, but he didn't tell me what. Maybe I should have followed him after all he shouldn't be keeping secrets from me." She rubbed her chin a little and then shrugged. "I'll grill him later right now I want nothing more than to party!" She said walking outside of the line to the club all the way to the front. "Excuse me Ms, but you'll have to wai-." Aurora put her fingers on the man's lips. "Shhhh don't speak just listen. I am Aurora Xanatos I am the star of musical theatre, and if that's not enough to get you to let me in I ask you to look at that building over there." She said speaking of Ivory Stocks Tower. "My dad owns that you see, now tell me what you were about to say." She said crossing her arms. "Uhhh go right in." Aurora smiled as she entered the club looking at the night scene. Men and women dancing laughing or drinking. Aurora couldn't help but smile with happiness as she headed to the bar. "White Russian if you would." That should get the her night off to a good start.

Essie had been at the club for hours already. Most of it was working of course. A girl had to make a living somehow and getting up on stage to sing was the best way to go. She got the gig on her own just weeks before. Being a wood nymph made things a little harder sometimes. She had to make sure that she could get to her gigs and still be able to reach trees in situations where it was required. That was one reason she loved her designation. Should she have been tied to a specific tree, doing what she loved would have been a lot less possible. Travelling was a little easier because most places had some form of woodland and she had access to it all instead of just the one. Of course, the forest of Harper Valley was her home and as such it was where she would always end up back to but that wasn't the point. At least, it wasn't the point tonight.
She had no idea how long she had been up there singing. Most of them were originals that she herself wrote. Toward the end of her second half, she even took a few requests to cover. She loved to sing and it showed in all of her performances. However when she was finally sung out she was glad to relinquish the stage to the club's next band and head over to the bar.
"Red Sangria," she told the bartender with a warm smile.

Aurora looked around the club was jumping and the music wasn't bad either of course being a siren sounds meant a whole lot more to her than regular people. She looked at the blonde singing on stage she was good her music flowed with such beauty and grace. "There's no way she's human." Aurora thought to herself as she watched the woman walk off stage. She followed her to the bar. "I'll have a bloody Mary." She said looking at Essie. "Those songs were delightful makes me wish I hadn't come in on the tail end of your performance." She said holding her hand out. "Xanatos, Aurora Xanatos." She said smiling happily. Aurora didn't have many friends in school besides the suck ups who wanted her money and Dash, so she was desperate to have a girl friend to pal around with, and what was better was that she was Fae. "So how long have you been enjoying stage life?" Aurora asked wanting to get to know her better. "I've been on the Theatre circuit for several years now." She said as their drinks arrived. Of course every so often she'd drop out of the lime light for a couple years people think she's dead then she'll resurface on some far off place and do it all over again. The price of being an immortal she supposed.

"Those songs were delightful makes me wish I hadn't come in on the tail end of your performance." Essie looked up at the woman as she was addressed and smiled at the compliment. Though, she couldn't help but raise a curious eyebrow as she got the woman's full name. Immediately, she caught something familiar about it but she couldn't decide what. She let it go and simply shook Aurora's hand.
"Sophia Contis," she said. "Though I mostly just go by Essie."
If Aurora wanted to be on full name basis, Essie would answer in kind. To her, it was just common courtesy. Then again, to others, Essie could be considered weird for seeing things in such a way. In her difference, she was pretty much old school. "So how long have you been enjoying stage life?" She took a sip of her drink as Aurora asked that and thought back to the first time she sang versus the first time she sang on stage in front of a crowd. When Aurora mentioned her own experience in the world of stage performance, she realized that she had likely seen the name around or heard it spoken a time or two. It was certainly interesting to say the least.
"Only about a year or two," she said. "I certainly enjoy it though."

Aurora looked at essie she seemed like such a nice lady and her voice was beautiful. That by itself was enough for her to like her. "Well I. It's. Nice to meet you Essie." She said taking a sip of her drink. She'd chosen a Strawberry Daiquiri she loved strawberries and well she needed a bit of liquid courage. She looked at the stage and a glint came to her eye. "This is a crazy idea I kno2, but how about me and you go for a duet?" She said smiling wide. Aurora knew that she might be overstepping her bounds, but that was nothing new to her. "I know i might be stepping on your toes and if you don't want to it's ok. It's just I've never partied with a fellow singer like me. When I do have to party it's mostly with ass kissers and brown nosers. Not the best company for a good party." She said basically pleading she had real practice with getting her way after the history with her father. Her father was a very dominating man and she was never able to get what she wanted by going at him directly, but she had learned to get her way without being direct with people.

Out of everything Essie expected, it wasn't being asked for a duet. Not many people ever really bothered to ask her for one. In fact, she didn't think anyone ever had. She was stunned but also intrigued. Honestly, she was interested by the offer. Personally she thought it would be fun, and the nymph was all about having fun, especially after her messy marriage and divorce.
“No,” she said quickly, her bright smile growing. “It's fine. It sounds fun actually. I've never really done a duet with anyone before. I did only have the stage for a limited time, but I can talk to the manager and the band to see if they're up for one more song.”

Aurora had no problem asking for what she wanted it was her upbringing whatever she wanted she got most of the time so why not ask the worst they could say is no and that rarely happened especially after they heard her name was Xanatos. She sometimes felt bad about throwing her father's name around like that, but oh well it was her name now too so she had just as much right to use it as he or her mother did. At the word no Aurora deflated slightly only to perk back up when Essie said yes to a duet. "Oh that's fantastic! This will be so much fun!" She said hugging the blonde woman next to her before awkwardly disengaging herself from Essie. "Sorry I'm a bit excitable when it comes to music." She said with a happy grin. "Oh don't worry if he gives you any fuss just send him over to me I'll straighten things out." She said with a self assured air about her. She was a Xanatos and a Xanatos does not back down easily, or so her father had said. She shrugged it didn't matter. She had made a new friend right after getting a marriage proposal out of Dash things were looking up. She'd even forgotten she was mad at him for leaving to Las Vegas without telling her why.

Essie eyed the other woman with amusement for a moment before grinning. She was happy. It had been a while since she met anyone who could answer her high level of enthusiasm where music was involved. Aurora could probably surpass hers. Essie really didn't mind that though. It was actually really refreshing. Besides, the idea of actually singing with someone else for once.
“Really, don't worry about,” she assured her. “I'm the same way.”
The name Xanatos held little meaning to Essie. She didn't come to New York often enough for the name to be significant. Aurora's introduction was the first time she ever heard. Then again, that couldn't really be a surprise. She called home a small isolated town in North Carolina. The only significance the woman's name and attitude suggest to Essie was that she simply knew her way around the club scene. That was admirable in and of itself.
“I'll be right back,” she said before hurrying off to speak to who she had to so they could get on the stage. A few minutes later, she headed back over to Aurora. “He said we could. They're going to finish the song they're on and call us up for one.”

She breathed a sigh of relief to know she wasn't the only singer that was this crazy about music. Music was her very soul she loved it more than anything it was her biggest fear not being able to speak or sing again it terrified her. the only thing she loved more than singing was singing with someone else. her mother and her used to do Karaoke together all the time. Aurora noticed that her last name didn't seem to faze her in the slightest and that made her all the happier to know that her name wouldn't open all the doors she wanted especially with people she wanted to call friends. Aurora clapped happily. "Oh that's so great what should we sing?!" She asked a little nervous, but happy none the less that she would be able to do this with a friend and actual friend not someone who was after her money or someone who just wanted to make themselves look better by being with her. She was hit by another idea, but she'd ask that question once their duet was over with she couldn't wait to strut her stuff. Sirens were attention hogs after all. She thought to herself as she headed to the stage with Essie after they had picked their song.

Even if the name Xanatos meant something to her, the little nymph wouldn't have cared. Being the daughter of a nymph known through myths that survived to this day, she was used to a number of Ancient Greek buffs finding that just fascinating and the human ones had only been fascinated because of the name not knowing Erato really was the Erato. They had just thought her mother shared the name because of parents who had been buffs themselves. It was quite amuses and she was fussed over after finding out she knew so much about Ancient Greece herself. Still it was more of a small town thing and nothing like Aurora's family probably had. Either way, Essie didn't care about fame or money. She was all about life and fun.
“How about Break the Rules by Charli XCX?” she suggested. “I haven't done new and fresh in a while. It'll be a nice change for me.”

Aurora looked at Essie as she recommended a song and Aurora smiled happily. "Oh yeah girl that's what I'm talking about I'm down for that!" She said feeling her energy jump to new levels as she prepared to rock this joint with her awesome singing skills. She stepped onto the stage with Essie and together the two of them rocked it out. Aurora even let down her guard letting her magic seep into her voice enchanting the whole audience soon the club was out of control everyone was dancing wildly to their music. the night continued on as such her and Essie enchanting the crowd with slow jams or blowing the roof off the place with intense rock music. Aurora walked down from the stage grabbing a drink to wet her whistle so to speak. "That was awesome!" She shouted clapping happily hugging Essie. "You know what Essie you're gonna be my best friend!" She said downing her drink. "You know what else you're gonna be the maid of honor at my wedding." Of course Aura was a little tipsy not from drinking, but because singing gave her a euphoric high as well. "You are such a good friend Essie I know you're gonna be great at my wedding, and you know what else I bet you'll find someone nice too there's gonna be a crap load and I mean a crap load of people at my wedding. Hot guys, and sexy girls if you're into that thing." Aurora said. "I mean if you are that's ok and if you know you're not well that's cool too." Aurora said rambling mostly.

Essie had a blast when she sang. She was most alive up on the stage than she was in most other places. Sometimes it even surpassed her birthright. While she loved being around a patch of trees and breathing in the fresh air, she wasn't always completely at peace. There was a time when she used to be, but pollution and paper mills ruined the purity of it. Now there was always a bit of sadness that came with the peace because she knew not many cared about the beauty they were destroying to make their lives easier. When she was on stage and singing her heart out, she could forget the tragedy of it even for just as long as the song lasted. She was vibrant and thrilled at the end of the song and was surprised at Aurora's bold announcement.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
She wasn't rejecting the idea. Honestly she was honored, but Aurora barely knew her and to Essie it felt a little more like a spur of the moment. She would certainly agree to joining the festivities of the other woman's wedding. She really did like the atmosphere weddings generally carried. She would love to go. She just wanted to make sure Aurora had thought this through. She didn't want the bride-to-be to put in an awkward situation once she realized she had missed something critical, like a sister or friend that deserved the honors she was bestowing on a girl she really didn't know.
“I mean, I don't mind,” she added hastily. “I would love to come and would be honored to be maid of honor. I just would hate to stop on toes due to hastiness. I hope I'm not offending you right now. I'm really not trying to.”

Aurora shook her head. "Of course I'm sure you're the first person who didn't start foaming at the mouth at the mention of my last name and well you let me sing a duet with you for a Siren like me that's like the most friendly thing you could have ever done for me. Music is my heart and my soul and for you to feel the same way and let me sing besides you that's the nicest thing you could do for me and so I want to repay your kindness." She said smiling as she ordered a pair of strawberry Daiquiris. Aurora waved her hand. "Look believe it or not but I'm not surrounded by many friends and the friends I do have are across the sea doing their own things and probably won't make it you snooze you lose in my book." She said winking at the bar tender as she sipped at her Daiquiri. "Don't worry about I've got some pretty thick skin you know I know you're not trying to offend and the mere fact that you even asked if there was someone else just shows me that you deserve it all the more." She said hugging her friend. "Just think about it ok I'm going dress shopping with my mom and I'd really like it if you came along." She said writing her number down and giving it to her. "Well now that that's over with what should we do next the night is young and so are we not to mention we're so hot the fire alarm should be going off cause we are smoking!"

Essie smiled at her new friend. She was actually really happy about the invitation. She was also very honored about it. She let out a delighted laugh and nodded. She didn't even blink at the mention of her being a siren. Personally, she was kind of curious about it. She was a nymph, though, so she didn't really think much of it.
“All right,” she said. “Okay. I would love to be your maid of honor, Aurora. Thank you and I don't know much about this city so I have know clue what there is to really do around here aside from drinking and dancing in clubs like this. I really do only come out here for gigs.”

Aurora clapped happily as she finally got Essie to agree to be her Maid of honor. "Oh thank you so much you don't know how happy you just maid me." She said grabbing her phone. "Hey I got this new app thing that let's me give people my contact info just by touching my phone to theirs." She said tapping her phone against Essie's. "Now ummm me and my mom are doing the dress fittings day after tomorrow." She said texting Essie the address of the dress shop. "Come by around 4 and we'll get you fitted for something sexy. Ok." She said as her phone went off. "Oh hi Dashie!" She said overly loud. "It's my fiancé." She said before getting back on the phone. "No I'm not drunk." She said rolling her eyes. "Well I'll see you soon." She said hanging up. "Sorry Essie my guy's back home now he was in Las Vegas for a day." She said before standing up and paying for both their drinks. "I'll see you soon darling have fun." She said happily as she headed for the door. "I made a friend tonight." She said proudly.
