Being incarcerated had changed him, which was the initial point. But for his circumstances, he'd have to do things differently. For instance, he'd intentionally gotten himself locked in solitary for the soul purpose of shifting before it forced him to in a place and time that would have probably gotten him killed. You see, Roman is a shape-shifter but not a really good one. Born an orphan and never properly taught who or what he was, he tends to not shift and eventually, it builds up inside him in the form of raw anger and, if he doesn't shift in time, the next explosion of anger could potentially cause him to shift into a man eating animal and rip apart anything near him. He was advised, as a child, to take at least one day a week to shift to keep his anger in check and the only way that had worked being imprisoned was getting himself sent to solitary. It worked. He spent the rest of his sentence being known as just any other normal felon. Sure, he may not have made the best track record but he was still alive and he still had his secret. He'd been out now, for about four years and since then, Roman made a promise to keep himself out of the trouble he'd gotten into as a teenager. He'd spent half of his youth in and out of foster care homes where the families were less than so. He had learned to fight to survive. He moved away as soon as he was out, to distance himself from those who got him locked up in the first place and here he was, struggling to make it on his own. He was used to making thousands of dollars in just a day and now he was stuck with resisting buying a coffee on the way to work because he couldn't remember how much was left in his bank account. Sure, Roman wasn't against stealing something here or there if he truly needed it but he did miss the days of riding up to a house and collecting thousands of dollars and striking fear into anyone who saw him. Not he was barely noticed on the streets.
He parked just around the corner from the coffee shop and had to push past bustling teenagers heading from the park to get ice cream shop beside the coffee shop. He remembered a carefree time like that but he had to remember that the friends he had run with had been fake friends, all together for the same purpose, to make money and keep themselves alive. They didn't bother to help him when he got caught and weren't afraid to take the stand at his trial and throw him under the bus. Roman had never truly had a family or friends. The only person in his life who had given a damn about him had been the orphanage "mother" who looked after all the younger children. She had found out about his shifting when she found him in an empty bathroom, a terrified black panther cub at the time, and luckily had a daughter-in-law who was also a shape-shifter and was able to give him some advice and help him keep his secret. But that had been so long ago. After that, he went into foster homes and his view on the world changed. No one really cared about anyone else. It was all a matter of survival; survival of the fittest and you had to fight your way to the top. He'd learned that the hard way.
Around the corner, he walked up to a stretch limo parked in three spaces and opened the driver's door, pulling his cap back down onto his head as he slid into the driver's seat. He still had ten minutes left on his lunch break and he was going to take advantage of it. He reclined his seat back a bit and turned the radio up as he stuffed a muffin into his mouth. He didn't want to miss the end of the game.

| The 5’9”, fair skinned woman made her way down the teenage crowded street with an overload of books cradled in her arms. The pile was stacked so high her line of sight in front of her was completely blocked, and was forced to maneuver around people with her peripheral vision. Being an Angel made navigation easier than it looked as all of her senses were heightened to a supernatural level, though that didn’t make the people move out of her way any faster than she wanted them to. In fact their ignorance was beginning to agitate the usually level headed woman to the point she was could go off on them at any moment –and at one point she almost did. Due to her age Dina had experienced a wide range of stupidity in humans. Everything from the simplest gesture –such as knocking over a priceless vase- to ones that left a more permanent mark on human history such as conquering cities in the pursuit of victory and power. Though she would willingly admit they had come a long way from their primitive ancestors, the mortals still never ceased to amaze her when it came to their decisions. On most occasions it wasn’t difficult for her to forgive their mistakes and even understood the patience needed when dealing with the young creatures, nonetheless even angels had their faults and sometimes Dina even felt the need to put them in their place every once in a while. Granted she still held a lot of love for the lesser beings, but that didn’t allow the angel to condone their lack of judgment when not one but three showed little to no concern when bumping into her hard enough to knock the books right out of her arms, with one even having the audacity to tell her to watch where she was going. If only they knew it was her that taught the human race the very words they used to berate her, maybe then they’d choose them wisely.
When she finally made it to her car she let out a sigh of relief, feeling the stress that had begun to build up wash away and set her books on the trunk so she could fish for her keys in her purse. After a minute of shuffling through wads of unused tissues and various styled pens –the angel always felt a small sense of enjoyment from collecting useful things to stash into her purse in the pursuit of always being prepared for anything- she found her keys and unlocked the passenger side door. She gently placed her books into the seat and, unexpectedly, strapped them in with the seat belt. The books weren’t priceless but they belonged to the University and Dina wasn’t prepared to spend the time or money replacing the already hard to find copies. It was almost customary for her to protect her possessions from her erratic driving habits. Satisfied they were strapped in securely she walked around the car and slid into the driver’s seat and without hesitation started the engine. When the car turned on she adjusted the radio to her liking and when flipping through the stations noticed the time. ”Crap.” she said, not one to curse in less than serious situations. Though if she didn’t get moving now she would have more reason to spout out foul words when the Dean scolded her for being late to their meeting. Without putting much thought into it she put the car into reverse, or what she thought to be, and pressed lightly on the gas pedal with her head turned around only to move forward instead of back. The sound of metal against metal brought Dina’s attention to the white limo in front of her, the feeling of dread washing over her at the realization of what she had done. ”Shit…” she said, feeling the word suited the situation perfectly.

Roman was seriously happy he didn't buy that coffee. Just as his team scored, his car threw him to the side and the sound of smashing metal to metal screeched into his ear drums. He dropped his muffin and looked over his shoulder to see a car had plowed into the side of the limo, luckily, far enough back that it had missed his driver's door and he was able to get out. At first, his initial reaction was anger. How was he going to explain this to his boss? Especially when he now had less than ten minutes till he was back on the clock and had to pick up his next client. But when he looked up to see the culprit, his anger disappeared and he hurried to her driver's door and helped himself to opening her door. "Hey! You alright?" he asked, bending down to see her better. "Do I need to call an ambulance?" It was then her scent washed over him and he paused as he mind tried to figure out what she was. He'd gotten rather good being able to distinguish supernatural from human and, even be able to figure out which supernatural creature they were but her scent was different, far older and certainly not anything he'd ever smelled before. Perhaps an ambulance would be a stretch too far...
Over the years, he'd gotten into fights with others of the Supernatural world and a lot of them were able to heal on their own, something Roman had always been slightly envious of. Part of the reason he felt he didn't have complete control of his shifting or the fact he wasn't able to heal himself was because he had a feeling he was only part Shifter and part human. He had a feeling he had been given up because he'd turned into a Shifter and not human. But he had always kept these assumptions to himself. Not like he ever had anyone else to tell. When he'd gotten out of prison, he searched for the woman he'd called "mother" at the orphanage only to find she'd been part of a hit and run from the same gang he'd run with as a teenager. It had been the turning point in his life where he knew he'd have to change his ways. But "mother" had been the only one in his life who had known about Shifters and had been able to help him. He'd been on his own every since. He was still only just learning about the Supernatural world in general.
"Can you stand?" he asked her, reaching a hand to her to help her up, if she needed it.

| Before she could even get out of the car her door opened and an unfamiliar voice made his presence known. There was no physical damage to the woman, not that a simple car accident could inflict any real trauma to her. The sentiment was warming and she could definitively sense the genuine concern in his voice. Once she could get past the initial shock she looked over at the person she assumed she had hit, their eyes met, and instantly she felt a wave of guilt wash over her. Rather than stress over the damages done to his car his first concern was her safety and yet, it was actually unnecessary for him to do so. Dina was quite durable though clumsy at times, this little incident being the result of that, and though she was actually quite thankful he wasn't blowing things out of proportion like most humans did; she was more worried about the cars than her safety.
She was however concerned for his but at first glance didn't notice any injuries, sighing mentally for the semi-good luck. "Yes, I'm fine. Unfortunately I can't say the same about your car." She said as she took his hand, her British accent making it clear she wasn't originally from the South. While stepping out of the car a distinctive smell tickled the fine hairs in her nose, making her want to reach up and scratch it. It wasn’t as foreign as the man himself though it wasn’t a species she ran into very often either. Shifters were a rare breed, or so the Werewolves made it their mission to make it that way, and because of that Dina expressed a deep desire to protect the endangered species. From the start of their existence Dina had always been fascinated with the species, even taking it upon herself to teach some of the first avian oriented shifters how to fly. Of course Dina wouldn’t go out of her way to help those that didn’t want it but to those that did she was more than happy to share her knowledge and experience. ”Are you okay? I am so, so sorry about that. I don’t know what’s wrong with me today.” She raised her hand and pulled her dark brown bangs away from her forehead as she looked at him with a pained expression. She felt her cheeks become hot with embarrassment and anger. She was defiantly going to be late now.

He looked from her to the car and frowned, though not feeling overly dramatic considering it really wasn't his car and, though his employer might take most of the damage costs from his paychecks, he wouldn't have to pay for the whole thing and deal with insurance companies. He would, however, need to get hers before they parted ways. But at the moment, those things weren't top priority. He waved a hand aimlessly at the car with a shrug. "I'm not too worried about that thing." he said as he went to his open driver's door and reached under the seat, pulling out a tablet. "I'll just have to cancel my next client. Roger'll be pissed. He'll have to take this one but accidents are accidents." he tossed the tablet onto his seat and walked back to her, concern returning to his eyes as well as semi masked curiosity. It was obvious by her lack of scratches or bruises that she was supernatural but her scent was off, something unfamiliar. It almost irritated him that he wasn't aware of what she was. "Are you sure you're alright? I can call an ambulance or something. I have a first aid kit in the trunk." Without waiting for her yes or no, he went to the now open hatch of the trunk and pulled out a white box with a red cross on the front before turning to her once more. "I have bandages, alcohol wipes..." he trailed off, realizing just how ridiculous he was sounding and closed the lid of the first air kit before reaching his hand out to her with a small smile. "The name's Roman. It's a pleasure to bump into you." he teased.

| His concern was flattering but was beginning to becoming overwhelming as well. She didn't know how to tell him she was alright other than the words themselves, and even those didn't seem to ease his troubled mind. A small chuckle pushed its way out as he went on about the first aid kit. Dina always found mortal behavior to be peculiar when they became nervous or wrapped up in their own bubble of worry, often times forgetting not everything in the world is as delicate as them. Their fragile lives demanded them to be cautious and to constantly be alert or else perish. For a celestial being like Dina the feeling was unfamiliar and bizarre, yet amusing. It was this that spurred her curiosity over the humans yet thousands of years later and they still surprised her. She had to admit however, he was cute when he worried.
"Dina. And technically it was I who bumped into you. So really, the pleasure is mine." And like clockwork her cheeks started to burn hot as the blood rushed to her skin. She extended her hand to accept his greeting, his hands soft and warm against her slightly chilled one. Dina always ran a few degrees cooler than her brother and constantly complained of being cold, and along with a tattoo covering every inch of her back keeping a hoodie around at all times was a must.
She looked over at the damages to the car, assessing what she’ll have to end up paying to fix them. Even for an Angel money wasn’t something that could just come right out of a top hat –though Dina understood the reference but could never figure out how the magician would sprout a bunny from one- and though her tenure at the University brought her a reasonable sized income; most of her funds went to her research. Dina left Roman in search of her insurance card, climbing into the car through the driver seat and leaning over into the glove compartment. Once she found it she grabbed the card but dropped it onto the floor of the car, forcing her to bend down even further and hoist her butt up in the air. When she sprouted back up she climbed out and returned back to his side. ”Here’s my insurance card and here is…” she trailed off as she searched through her purse for a pen and paper, easily finding a pen but no paper. Finally she managed to find an old business card she was given by the University with her profession and field of study along with her name and number. ”My other card.” She dropped the pen back into her purse as she held out the card with a smile.

Dina. That was an interesting name. It wasn't something he'd heard before. He was glad she was taking this all so lightly. He'd much prefer a screaming raging woman than one who stayed in her car crying. This was the perfect go between and he felt in good spirits, regardless of the damage. She returned to her car and Roman threw the first air kit back into his truck and turned just in time to see her ass in the air as she felt around under the seats for whatever she was looking for. It only took him a few moments to realize what he was looking at before he felt his face flush red and he instinctively looked away feeling shamed for looking after just having an accident but feeling a sense of satisfaction at the same time. However, when she finally pulled herself out of the car and was in front of him again, he couldn't seem to get rid of the redness in his face and the smirk on his face. He reached out to take her insurance card. "Er," he cleared his throat. "Thanks. Le-let me just get this written down." It wasn't that he had a problem with women, far from it but it was the innocent about her that him a tad embarrassed and, unfortunately, wasn't able to recover when she'd returned smiling at him.
He returned to his driver's side and picked up the tablet once more, keeping his face faced downwards as he inputted her information. "I'll make sure the boss gets this." he told her. "I hope he's not too hard on you. He can be a real asshole." he said, allowing himself to laugh, hoping it would lower his racing heart.

you're a hot mess and I'm falling for you As the Virtue of Chasity, Dina could feel the air shift around them at the drop of a hat. She didn't even need to see the blush on his cheeks to notice the absence of innocence within him. Just as any man would, it was inevitable he would walk the same path as many others before him by admiring the view in front of him, only to feel the ping of guilt in doing so. This was common among the men through out Dina's life and though she wishes to believe it is because of their subconscious reminding them of the wrong they were doing, the Demi-God within her knows it is her influence that drives men, and even women, to confront their guilty conscious.
She watched as he retrieved his tablet and imputed the information, holding fast a smile that could be considered contagious. It was becoming difficult with each passing second to ignore his sudden change in demeanor, as if something had happened while she was retrieving her information. Little did she know she was the sudden cause for it, and continued to think he was just as nervous about the accident as she was. "I'm sure I'll be fine. It's only a small dent." She waved her hand nonchalantly, unphased by the possible fact she may have to struggle with his boss. "I don't usually have a problem getting people to cooperate with me. I guess I just have that kind of affect on people." Her smile widened and a tinge of light twinkled in her eyes as if they held a deep seeded secret that only she knew.
At the thought of angry bosses, she was reminded of her own and the meeting she was supposed to be at. Her eyes darted down to the wrist watch strapped to her wrist and gawked at the time. "I'm sorry. I have to go." She stepped behind the open car door and tossed her purse into the car, landing on the passengers side seat. "I'll contact your boss after my meeting. Again, I am really sorry about all of this. I promise I'll make it up to you!" She exclaimed and placed a gentle touch on his arm before sliding into the drivers seat and started the engine, driving off as if she was running from something. template by malin @ adoxography [googlefont="Dancing Script"] [googlefont="Lato:300"]

She was steadfast in her ideal that she, the accident, was fine and Roman finally consented with a sigh. As long as she was okay with it... He just felt bad that she would have to deal with his boss. He wasn't exactly a people person in fact, Roman had a feeling the man didn't have anyone in his life at all which would make for his sour disposition and anger towards any human being. Either way, Dina was already climbing into her car and bringing the engine back to life. He felt a sudden presence of matters unfinished and failed to have any words to reply to her. As she pulled away, she promised to make it up to him and he couldn't help the lurch of his heart at those words even though he knew they were only a result of the view he'd gotten. They weren't true emotions. He smiled and waved her off as she drove off, suddenly feeling like the accident hadn't even happened.
--
He'd handed the report to his boss as soon as he'd returned to the garage and, as he expected, was quickly reprimanded, even though he'd done nothing to cause the damage. He accepted the man's punishment without batting an eyelash, refusing to get into a confrontation with the man and left the office feeling as though he'd just had a door slammed in his face. He went to his locker in the break room, changed out of his customary suit and tie that was the official uniform of the limo service, and into a grey jumpsuit that would be his new uniform for a few weeks as he trudged out his boss's punishment of working in the garage.
Roman was an all around jack of all trades. Fixing cars wasn't his best skill but he knew enough to get by. When it started to get technical, however, he had to politely back out. Wiring and computers confused him. However, the limo up on the lift today only needed an oil line replaced a few brakes replaced. Tying a kerchief around his neck, he rolled up his sleeves and got to work, easily getting elbow deep into grease and grim. It was only for a few weeks... He could handle it. Somehow, though, he felt as though he got the shit end of the stick when compared to Dina. She was probably only going to get screamed at then never have to deal with him again. Unfortunately for Roman, the man doing the screaming signed his paychecks.
