Otto nodded. He understood that, and he even respected him for it. It really was his decision after all. The fact that someone with a higher level of authority than himself still let him make the decision was a point to the man. It was the main thing he hated about the Omni and other figures of equal status. They liked to tell him and those like them how to live. It was none of their business and something Otto had never had patience for.
He tilted his head at the man's observation. It wasn't often that someone connected the magi thing with a vampire's extra ability. Though, there were probably a good number that made the connection and just didn't have the desire to know or courage to ask. Regardless, it was definitely an intriguing testament to the man's character. Otto scratched his chin thoughtfully as he decided if he should answer truthfully or avoid the straight answer.
“I do,” he admitted in the end. “It's proven very useful to me and I'm glad I got to keep it.”

Romantic Nature Date With Inola @inola words: idc | Veltos was glad the vampire seemed to be more relaxed and calm around him now. He was hardly an hardass like Gina and the other progenies could be when it came to running their own scenes. Of course it was his job to keep all vampires in New York City in check and behaving like they should to avoid trouble with the Sentella or Magi. Still that didn't give him the permission or right to just stick in nose in everyone's personal businesses like Otto's cartel. As long as it didn't hurt his own legal and illegal businesses then he didn't really care what someone did until they became his enemy. Then he would make their life a living hell and destroy all that they owned to make an example out of them to the other vampires. Otto wasn't really under his jurisdiction so he'd leave him be with his business and let him run it however he liked so his decision to do anything with him now was entirely up to him now. "Ah I see rather interesting I'm sure. I wasn't born a Magi so I'm pretty ordinary but there's nothing wrong with that really after all it's not a power that makes you unique really," Veltos simply replied with a nod of his head now. He'd survived this long on his own strength and merit and he could survive another thousand years or so just the same way really. He was probably the only ordinary progeny really that Kaia Rion had and in a way he liked to think that made him special enough in his own right though it was arguable who was more unstable between him and Ileana mentally he was be inclined to say Ileana was probably. "I am curious what led you to want to make a Cartel?" Veltos would ask now as he looked back to Otto once more now.

He couldn't help but chuckle at his comment about powers not making and individual unique. In a way he was right, but it wasn't that simple. Then again, Veltos said it himself. He was never a magi. He didn't know how magic and abilities worked.
“Not by itself no,” he agreed, “but no individual is the same. Specialties are tied to that specific individual in such a way that the magic they use fits them like a glove. Magical powers like fingerprints and they work in a way that heightens the users individualism. While not enough to make the user stand out significantly, it does help – some more noticeable than others.”
That really was an easy answer to give. The answer to his question wasn't in the same boat. It opened up the pain of memories he tried to burying deep. He closed his eyes and thought back to the day that changed everything. The day Eva was killed was the day he completely turned his back on who and what he was. He turned his back on where he came from entirely and clung to an overpowering rage that had gradually consumed him from the moment he realized he was different from his entire family. The Acosta Cartel was the product of that rage. It grew into his personal headquarters to enact his revenge.
“It was started in memory of someone I knew,” he said. “A homage and a warning in its own right, I decided to dedicate my life to controlling the magi population and satisfy some vampires in the process. The money was a plus but not the reason why it begun.”
