Evander had sent Alex a text the night before, asking her to meet him downtown. It had been a while since they had met up again, but he had been busy with extra shifts at a couple of bars. Their relationship had been reduced to a texting one before they even had a chance to go out and he despised that already, so he had managed to talk someone into switching shifts with him later in the week because he didn’t want to wait until later to see Alex. He was smitten already and had butterflies just at the thought of meeting up with her.
He was so nervous in fact, that he had to go for a flight right beforehand, taking off from the building they were meeting at‒his favorite arcade. He wanted their first date to be something far more spectacular but with such little time for planning videogames and dinner would have to suffice. He promised himself he would make their second date better, wanting to make up for all the time they had missed in high school and the times she felt lonely. While wind wiped through his feathers he vowed to make sure Alex would want for nothing and never feel like she had in high school as long as she still wanted to be with him.
He flew for a couple of hours, having given himself plenty of time to do so but he had gotten so lost in his own thoughts that he hadn’t realized the sun had set until a light flashed in his eye and knocked him out of his own head. He looked around, realizing the time, and flew straight for the arcade again, cursing himself as he went. A string of fucks left his mouth as he transformed back in the rooftop of the arcade, followed by a bunch of dammits as he got dressed‒maybe a vest and bowtie were not his best choices right now. He decided as he went to the edge of the building and climbed down the ladder on the side of it. She probably thought he was standing her up and he hated himself for that. He had already fucked up, he decided as he ran onto the street with his untied bowtie in hand. His eyes flitted around as he looked around quickly.
