Macht had spent some time in New York, building a new life and identity. He'd gotten a job at an auto-shop, a new name, new plates for his car, and a place to stay. It had been a week so far, and he'd already gone through three different hotels, but finally seemed to have found a place to stay for the long-term - at least, by his standards. Two months, give or take, and he'd be out of there, on the road again, probably in Vegas a couple of days after he'd check out. That was the life he lived, really, and as much as he hated it, it was his. Constantly on the run, constantly building a new life every couple of months. For survival, it was necessary. But he hated it. Macht wanted to find a reason to settle down, to stay in New York, at least for more than two months. A genuine friend, maybe even a woman, something. It was because of this yearning for community that he was out on the town. He was taking in word of mouth, looking for places people frequented. The German was incredibly rusty when it came to social anything, so he figured the first step was to get out there. Crowded places had to have at least one person who wanted to talk to him, right? Preferably not Magi. Finding a good local bar, Macht parked his car and headed inside. It was bustling, something he wasn't used to, so at first he simply stood around, staring at groups of people. The smell of alcohol and smoke filled his lungs, and a cacophony of mindless chatter smothered his ears. It took everything he had to not turn around and just head home, but after a moment of steeling himself, he managed to force himself to head to the bar. He managed to find a seat away from people, taking a stool at the far left of the counter. Fingers tapped along it for a moment, and he hailed the bartender over. "Whiskey, please." A $20 was slid onto the counter, and he received his drink. It was a lot, but maybe he could open a tab if he was going to try coming here often. Some time passed and he lost himself in his drinks. It was ironic, really, given that that was the exact opposite of what he wanted to do - delve into solitude at the hand of alcohol. It had no real effect on him, given his physiology, but it was nice to try. And somewhere in the lost time, he managed to catch the eye of a lady. She winked at him, he smiled at her. It was small, but it was nice. Something he didn't experience too often. It also didn't lead anywhere, but it was a start, right? Rather than get up and talk, Macht stared down at his drink. It was almost empty now, and the taste of whiskey was starting to feel dull on his tongue. A wave of his hand, and the moisture in the air pooled above his cup before filling it with water. It's the little things. // Alita DemetrioHopefully this is alright! If not, shoot me a PM and I'll make it easier.

Alita had not bee living in New York for long, and already she was feeling alone and isolated. Her twin sister lived in a completely different city, and she barely saw her. She was the only family she had left, and knew of. For all she knew, her so called 'father' could of had more children with a different woman and she could have a whole load of half siblings. Or her father could be some total ass who wanted nothing to do with his children. Probably the latter, other wise he would have bothered to try and find them. He was not the one who had to start a fresh in a new city where he knew absolutely no one, but maybe it was for the better. Maybe staying in Italy was not the best option for her. Alita needed at least one person who she could trust in this city. Her emotions were incredibly temperamental. She was shocked that she had kept them on this long, but maybe having someone she was close too would help her stabilize them. Although, making friends had not something she had become accustomed too. In Italy, she had never had the time for friends. Being a human-vampire hybrid made it difficult to fit in with any of the species when they knew what you were. However, here she was not going to let that happen. So, she decided she would go out to the local bar, since she could meet some people there. As long as it was not a vampire she ended up speaking too, then she everything would be fine. She had found a bar, not far off from where her flat was that was walking distance away. It was not a long walk before she arrived, and was shocked slightly by the bustling atmosphere of the room. Something she was not used too. The smell of cigarettes caused her to cough as she headed over to the bar to get herself a drink. "Glass of red wine, please" Alita then pulled the money of of her purse, and placed it in the mans hand. The drink she had ordered soon arrived, which she took and headed away from the bar. Alita had expected to be only one drinking alone that night, when she saw a man sitting at a table alone. Her certainly did not look drunk, but for the amount she had watched him drink, he probably should have been. Her tolerance was high, but no ones was that good that it looked like you hadn't even had one glass. In the Hope of maybe making a friend, she made her way over to him, and made cleared her throat to make herself known. "Is uh.. this seat taken?" Her voice was quiet, and shy as she spoke. Her eyes looking down at the ground. // Macht Stärke

Macht's "concentration" on his drink was broken by the sound of a voice, one that stuck out from the mindless noise that filled the rest of the bar. He cocked a brow, noticing someone was actually talking to him, and looked up at the source. Needless to say, he was rather surprised upon seeing the woman, and he just stared for a good few seconds. A few, likely awkward, seconds. When he remembered he had a voice, he blinked, nodding in response. "Yeah - I mean, no - please, take a seat," he began with an awkward smile. His drink was pressed to his lips and he looked away from her for a moment, rolling his eyes at how bad he was at communication. It was embarrassing, to say the least, but he'd have to try and suck it up, at least for the moment. He was glad someone came up to him, but, in all honesty, it was also a bit frightening.
The glass was set on the table and he stared down at it, fingers tapping against it. He waited a bit to see if she'd strike up conversation, but simultaneously argued with himself that he should try and do it instead, seeing as she'd made the effort to come over here. So, he did. Macht cleared his throat, glancing over to the girl a couple of times, a nervous chuckle escaping his lips. "So, uh," he scratched his head, scooting back in his chair a bit. He was bad at this, and it was going to show. "Come here often?" In his head, he was throwing himself around the room, but all he showed was a small smile. That was a terrible way to start up conversation and he knew it, but he said it anyway.

For a few seconds, the man she had been spoke too, just stared at her. The mood quickly turned awkward, and eventually the man responded. Alita, however, would have probably done the same or would of tried to ignore him simply because she would just be too shy. She took the seat the seat opposite him, placing her drink onto the table. "I'm, uhh.. sorry for just barging in like this.. The man she now sat at the table with, probably was not planning to have some random women come and sit with him. He possibly just wanted to drink along, but Alita needed some sort of social interaction. Since being a hybrid was not always a good thing when it came to other people. She sipped her drink, as the two sat in silence for a few moments. Maybe the alcohol would make it a bit easier to talk to this person. Or anyone for that matter. She was a lot more sociable when she was intoxicated. Alita was tempted to start a conversation, but had no idea what to say. She hadn't thought past making her way over here, and sitting down at this table. This was one of the reasons she stayed home most of the time, and only talked to her sister. The situation was only growing more and more awkward, especially when he chuckled awkwardly. Finally, the man started up a conversation. "No, I..uhh.. tend to stay home.. a lot." She then realized how boring her life seemed. All she wanted to do was curl up in embarrassment, and hide in a corner some where. "What about you..?" She looked down at her drink, which she took a sip of and tried to think of something else to say. Oh.. I'm Alita.. by the way."Macht Stärke,

So she stayed home a lot. She was shy. Probably had the same problems Macht did when it came to being social, really, though he doubted they could relate that much. Still, though, as awkward as the start to this meeting was, it was a lot easier knowing it wasn't just hard for him. "That's a nice name. I'm Macht. Starke." He offered her a smile and took another sip of his drink before shrugging. He could tell her the truth, as he planned, and let her know his life was equally boring, or he could talk about things that never happened before to try and make it seem like he had more of a life than he really did. He wasn't that kind of guy, though, so pitiful honesty it was! "Well, uh, same, really," he laughed, fingers tapping lightly against his glass. "I dunno, I just... it's... hard, y'know? To get out there. And talk to people. But I really want to be able to." He didn't look at her when he spoke, opting instead to look down at his drink, which made it a little easier. But after he finished, he did look over at her, a light smile on his face. "This isn't really my scene, but I figured it'd be easy to meet somebody here."// Alita Demetrio

Alita knew how boring her life had sounded, but what was the point in lying. Most people would be able to quickly tell if she was making it all up, just by the way she was so shy. Someone as shy as her would not be going out every night, to all the best clubs. Someone like her want to only stay home, and stay within her comfort zone. It was just easier for her that way, and her life had no big complications in it. Having someone there to support you, however, had always seemed like a good idea. She had just been too shy to get round to that sort of thing. Her sister, though, was a lot more confident and her life seemed a lot better because of it. " Well, it's nice to meet you Macht!" She said with a warm smile, after he introduced himself. "It's more the fact that I don't want to get close to someone, and then have some sort of problem were I have to leave everyone I care about, behind.." She said, swirling the wine around in her glass. "Again.." Alita noticed Macht look down at his glass, as he spoke to her ans she knew he was feeling uncomfortable about the conversation. "It's no mine either. I'd rather be with a few close friends the in a place as busy as this.." She said shyly. Macht Stärke

Alita's words hit home. They were rather vague, sure, but he could relate. After all, he'd been on the run for almost 150 years, now, and in that time he'd made a lot of friends, and all of those friends were eventually lost. It was taxing on the soul, after so long, and it was something he was just - truly - done with. Even if it ended up making things a little more dangerous for him in the long run, he had to settle down, meet people, live a normal, free life. "Yeah, I hear you," he said quietly, taking a sip from his drink as she swirled hers. He needed to step out of his comfort zone, and this was the time and place to do it. He just hoped, in the back of his mind, that being friendly wouldn't end up making this woman go away. "I know exactly what you mean, and I'm the same way. I've lost track of just how many times I've had to pick up and move on a whim." When Macht spoke this time, he managed to keep eye contact. At least, for the most part. "I settled into town about a week ago. Before that I was in Vegas for two months. Before that, I was in a small town in Arizona called Yuma for maybe a year. I'm not very fond of that life anymore." Part of it was a rant, and part of it was Macht wanting Alita to know she wasn't necessarily alone. Relating to someone could do a lot for a person. "Do you, uh - this is going to sound forward, and I'm really sorry for that, but um..." A chuckle as he paused. He'd noted her wording about this not being the type of place she'd liked and so he was trying to give her a chance to get out. "Do you want to... not... be here? I mean, I don't even like this place. I mean, we could even just head outside and sit on the hood of my car and talk." Macht smiled, having made the offer. And then he realized there was a chance it sounded like he was hitting on her. "If you want, I mean - I'm not trying to be a dirtbag, but, y'know?"// Alita Demetrio

The situation seemed to become more and more awkward, as the conversation seemed to die down. She blamed herself for that, since her answers had become more and more blunt. She was not someone who enjoyed telling her whole life history to some random stranger, and she assumed Macht was not like that either. Just by the conversation they were having, told her that Macht was just as shy as she was. It was nice that she had met someone who understood why she was so shy. Places like this were not places Alita would have been seen in very often. The music and drinking was something she seemed to hate, as it often meant she would have to end up talking to some self centred guy who would not stop going on about himself. She would then be too shy to try and get herself out of that conversation, and would have to make up some bad excuse to leave. It was a shock when Macht then struck up a conversation. It would of been out of her comfort zone to try and continue the conversation like he had started it. Although, if she stayed within her comfort zone for the rest of her life, she would end up living a very lonely life. "It's not exactly the amount of times I've had to drop everything and leave." She tried to keep eye contact, and for the most of what she was saying she did. "I am originally from Italy. I had never known my father, and my mother died not long after child birth. I tried to try and settle into both the human and vampire community, but once the vampire found out me and my sister were hybrids, they chased us out" Alita finished her drink, and then looked back to Macht "I had to leave everything, and I ended up here after hearing about there maybe a few other Hybrids here"It made her then giggle as Macht then awkwardly asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else. She knew she shouldn't laugh, but it wasn't like she was laughing at him. More at the fact that she would of done the same thing is she was in his shoes. "You don't sound like a dirt bag" Alita said, smiling softly. "I would love to get out of here. I don't mind where we go" Macht Stärke

So she was a hybrid. Macht figured she was different, somehow, mostly by her scent, but it wasn't strong enough to belong to something like a full-blooded Vampire, so he was thrown off. The knowledge, however, didn't seem to upset him. If anything, it made him feel a little better than someone could relate to him. Vampires weren't exactly the most popular, especially in a city where the Council's influence was as powerful as it was, and with him being a Deacon, he knew exactly how that felt. "I know exactly how that is. But if I told you what I am, I doubt you'd really believe it," the man said with a chuckle. With Alita being willing to leave, Macht topped off his drink and stepped up from his table, jerking his head toward the door. He wasn't going to lead the girl anywhere she could deem as sketchy, so the best bet, in his opinion, was to chill on his tailgate for the remainder of the conversation. Assuming she followed him, he'd pop it down and sit on it, offering her to do the same. "So, I understand things haven't always been good for you, and I think I've made it clear I'm the same way. But, I dunno, I kinda wanna know about you." He laughed softly, scratching the back of his head. "I mean, don't get me wrong, it's... good, knowing I'm not alone in my situation, but I don't want to be a downer, especially to the first person I've actually tried talking to in over a hundred years." A subtle hint that he was different, too, but he still left what he was in the air. He didn't want to say "I'm a rogue dragon" and have it end up he just told a council sleeper about it, or something. Even if he was opening up, he was trying to be careful. // Alita Demetrio
