Kgosi stood in a large, lavish, and pristine banquet hall located on the ground floor of the Ivory Tower Stocks building. It was roughly 90 yards long and wide, with a 20 foot ceiling. In the northwest corner was a dining area, with an incredible selection that could reasonably accommodate for any species' natural diet while remaining within human legal boundaries. There were enough tables and chairs to seat most everyone who was attending the party, so there was ample room for people to be feasting at any hour. In the northeast corner there was a lounging area for people to relax, chat, and have a good time. It had plenty of quality couches and coffee tables, as well as rugs beneath the furniture to add a little cushion in the event anyone found themselves seated on the floor. The south side had a stage with live bands playing all sorts of music, from classical to rock. In front of this stage was a large area set for those who wished to participate in the audience, be it dancing or just singing along. All throughout the banquet, there were servers going around attending to the peoples' every whim - within reason.
This banquet was one that Kgosi had announced a little over a month ago, and it had been consistently advertised ever since. The point of it was to provide the Supernatural community with something they could go to to see they were not alone, and to show the humans that those who resided outside of the mortal realm were not entirely different from themselves. So far, it had a large turnout, with most of the area in front of the stage being packed, and a good number of people dining and lounging. Seeing all of these people in one place made him happy - Vampires, Werecats, Fae, you name it and they were probably there. Kgosi himself was wandering throughout the banquet, addressing people he'd never seen before and introducing himself. The doors, meanwhile, remained open to any other Supernatural who wished to enter.

Thread outfit: linkAs one of the oldest dragon lords -who survived the dragon wars per say – Marina was more than interested in the supernatural banquet that the gentleman who went by the name of 'Kgosi' offered about one month ago. And describing him as a gentleman was certainly an understatement; the CEO of Ivory towers had this gentle but confident aura around him that didn't lack in strength and power. Marina was not the only interested; her presence signified the attention of the Scarlet council as well due to the animosity between them and the vampires in general. The dragon lord was not a representative truth to be told, but she was there and that was enough to say something. So casually dressed in a white blouse topped with a leather jacket and followed with a knee-length boots of the same nature while having black slacks in between, of course the chosen attire didn't live up to the occasion, but the dragon lord chose the comfort of casual wears over the unknown of stylish ones, and please do so forgive her; she had just awoken from a long sleep and was adapting to the modern era. Marina felt her red hair having lazy swings when she was moving around, unlike the usual curly strands they were simply straight and trimmed within their ends at shoulder length. The dragon lord refrained from the liquors opting for an orange juice, but really she was hunting for the opportunity to meet the original werecat in person hence to measure up his personality. Casting the cup aside to another server; Marina found the moment most ripe to meet up with the person in question. ”It is an honor to meet the CEO of ivory towers,” words were mingling in Russian accent whilst her hand was extended for a rock solid handshake, ”Marina Volkova,” she introduced herself, ”I am not supposed to be outed,” the dragon preferred her supernatural identity a secret most of times, ”but curiosity took hold of me, and there I am,” hence why they were having this conversation, ”I wanted to know about your vision,” she followed that with a question, ”how do you intend to keep harmony between the supernatural species?” Marina was intrigued indeed since she had never thought about a solution for eternal peace, after all she was just a dragon meant only to eliminate the enemies of her masters. "The honor is mine, Ms. Volkova," Kgosi replied with a kind smile to the beautiful woman who approached him. He took her hand, surprised at the incredible firmness, and immediately pegged her as a Dragon. That, or a Werebear, and the former was significantly more logical an assumption to make. While he was taken aback by the grip, the kind smile never left his face, though his eyes did wander to search for any possible handlers for this Dragon. "I am Kgosi, but I presume you already knew that." His hand would retract from hers and move to take a glass of wine from a server who passed by. As a courtesy, he offered her one as well.
"My vision is a simple one," he started, swirling the wine in his glass and taking in its scent before he sipped a small amount "As you can see, the knowledge that one is not alone, can usually be enough to keep them peaceful, if only for a moment. Take a look around this building and you will see everything from Merfolk to Vampires, intermingling with no qualms. No issues. Coming forth with peaceful situations to any species can keep the majority in tact, and, in turn, achieve the beginnings of harmony so long as those situations are properly acted out." He left out several details, as there was indeed a much larger way of doing things than just hosting banquets. He still had the Werewolves to deal with, as well as the peoples' fear of Vampires. "I won't do you the disrespect of stating your race aloud, seeing as you wish it be kept a secret, but I know your kind and their general purpose. Even better, I know the were-types. I am fully aware not all are entirely docile, but neither is man." He smiled, taking yet another sip of his tea. Kgosi figured he was beginning to speak in circles, so rather than continue to do so, he put things simply for his guest. "The answer, Ms. Volkova, is community."
For thousands of years, Kgosi had successfully achieved harmony throughout the African tribes by presenting community. In recent years, they have fallen into turmoil and lost their sense of union, so he didn't use them as an example, but the fact remained that he knew how to present a people with a common goal.

Thread outfit: link”Of course, I do!,” and who certainly wouldn't, ”you are the talk of the hour,” but that was not the only reason, ”and most of the supernaturals knows about your relentless efforts to reach for amicable terms for all the different sects,” Mar hoped she didn't offend him with her iron grip, then again, the dragon side resided more within her than that of feminine, ”thank you,” she took the liquor with grace choosing not to let his courtesy down and also noticing that he was looking for something but Mariya didn't know what for certain. ”I don't wish to be rude,” Mar had to present her concerns as well in a civilized manner, perhaps he could persuade her even more, still she spoke from her point of view, ”I see predators and preys within your halls,” indeed they were not at each other throats but that was the work of politics and most probably the curiosity in what Kgosi had in store for them which kept all sects in line, ”almost a small breadth away from tearing each other throats,” that was the warrior inside her that was speaking, ”but I wish for the harmony you have in mind to come true,” she concluded, ”it means lesser problems as a whole,” Mar didn't drink the wine though. ”It is just work,” it was nothing personal for sure, ”that is why I keep my identity a secret,” Marina presented him with credentials saying that she was a human reporter. ”but I think you know what I am already from the previous handshake,” she smiled, and her smile was calm, ”but humans fear what they don't know, and the supernaturals have a love for being feared,” it was a bad mixture something akin into being in the wrong in the wrong time. ”Community,” Marina was already interested when she said the word, ”I think you have a plan,” not only that, ”and it is in the works,” but she had a question for him or rather an observation, ”but a feeling of mine tells me that the wolf pack in new york is not so keen on joining your community,” there were many dragons planted within the city and reporting back to her, ”I don't see any of them here,” Mar looked around although she needed not to, ”yet,” because perhaps they would. As a Chancellor, it was Meredith's duty to attend any and all functions that regarded the Council whether indirectly or not. She was well within her rights to decline -fully aware that vampires would most likely be present as well which left a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach- but she couldn't disappoint her boss, Viktor, and even for a vengeful woman, the prospect of peace between the species was inevitably worth checking out. The Magi had always been a fan of Kgosi's lavish parties, though rarely able to attend on account of most of her time being spent in Vegas so she was quite thrilled to learn she would be able to make it to this one. As an acting representative to the Scarlet Council she made a conscious effort to remain distant from anyone she deemed suspicious to prevent anything that may trigger her temper. She suppressed her personal feelings against certain supernatural beings but only because she was strictly here on business. She entered the banquet hall with the intent on seeking out the host but currently he was preoccupied, giving her a chance to check out the rest of the room and grab a drink. There would be a time for the inquisitive woman to make her move and introduce herself to the host, if not for an inside look on his plans for peace then to show a respectful gesture of appreciation to the invitation. tag: everyone notes: she'll be more active in the next round outfit ♥ ♥

"Charlemagne's pack is another story entirely, though I can assure you they will not be impossible to convince," Kgosi said with a smile. He noticed she didn't partake in her drink, and he also noticed a woman in a rather lavish dress enter the vicinity not long after Marina approached him. He pegged her for a Dragon, so the newcomer was immediately pegged as her handler - possibly someone from the council he'd personally invited - though he was fully aware that could be nothing but moderat suspicion talking. He shrugged off the thought as it wasn't important, however, and returned his attention to the woman he was speaking with currently. "If they did show, they would be welcomed. Even the werewolves would realize they would be vastly outnumbered at such an occasion, so stirring up animosity between the public "immortals" would do nothing but hurt their cause. I'm a man of influence, as I'm certain you're aware, and even the thought of wreaking havoc in my home, when I am one of the most well-known representatives of our kind would be rather ill-advised. You don't know what all is out there - and I do use this term generally - but you know they're all here peacefully. Breaking that peace would come with a price." The smile faded, and Kgosi revealed only slightly more that he had planned. This wasn't easy to read, however, and remained moderately cryptic, despite how straightforward it was.
After the long-winded speech, he once again dressed the other woman, but with only a small and respectful bow of his head. If it was indeed a member of the council he'd need to be sure not to rub her the wrong way, and even if it wasn't, kindness went a long way, no matter how small.

Colton originally had no intention of attending the event. When he first heard, in fact, he scoffed at the idea. Sure, it might looks nice for politics and such, but did a gathering of supernaturals - namely either prominently successful or rich ones - really make any difference? Unfortunately, because it was a big show, he knew there would most likely be a Council member, or someone closely related, attending the event. Anything to look like the proverbial angels. Nonetheless sickened, Colton walked through the doors of the event room and took a moment to look around. Without so much as a glance toward anyone else, the Mage made his way to the table, grabbed himself a plate, and began to pile food onto it, not shy about the portions in the least.
Most of what he took amounted to mostly...meat. Even if he wasn't a wild animal like some in attendance might be, Colton sure loved his protein. He waved his hand in the direction of a champagne glass, hovering it toward him with a simple cantrip. To perhaps make matters slightly worse, his attire wasn't exactly...fancy. He wore a black button-up shirt with no tie and a lighter black suit jacket left unbuttoned. He did wear dark gray dress slacks, but insisted on a pair of tennis shoes instead of any fancy footwear. At best, he qualified as "dressy-casual." Evidently, he cared little for his appearance. Even his hair was a bit wild, rather than combed straight and down.
Colton paid no mind to any of it, instead more interested in chilling his drink and eating the food before him - for now, at least. Even so, he attempted to keep himself at least neutral in expression, if only for everyone else's sake. Perhaps there might be some interesting conversation to have. Maybe this Kgosi guy will hand him a million bucks for being a supernatural. Wishful thinking. Though, occasionally, he'd look up toward Meredith.
So he wasn't the only Mage! Wonderful.

Thread outfit: link”Looks like you had already figured that out,” Marina chose not comment anymore, apparently the dragon lord got whatever she wanted from him or at least an insinuation out of it; perhaps Kgosi knew deep inside of him that some times attempts of coercive tact doesn't work like a bravado that would show strength. Marina believed in strength, and she believed that all supernaturals respected it since it was the true virtue that governed the paranormal society; hence the strongest rules and the weaker serves. But that mention of community and the promise of harmony out of it; she wondered if Kgosi was aiming for a state of equality between the different sects? Certainly, it was a revolutionary thought, but Kgosi must be prepared, because once you try to change something then eventually you will make some enemies. Marina followed the ancient werecat where the Chancellor of the scarlet council stood after a short arrival, and before Rina would say anything; she left her glass of wine with another server – she didn't like to drink while on duty. ”Nice dress,” Mar looked Meredith from head to toe, ”now I feel like that Nazi officer who was torturing pows in the secret dungeons just couple of hours ago,” she said smiling totally reaching the conclusion that she herself – Marina- picked up the wrong attire to attend the party. Yeah, knee high leather boots..that was definitely brutal. Then again, everyone learned from their mistakes. And if there was a next time; she would come in something similar to Mary. Outfit-- His reason for coming? None. Why was he here? Because his fucking sister made him go. The woman wasn't even in New York and yet, here he was. He hated the way she got under his skin but what could he do? After all, it was his fault she was still here with him and cursed as a werewolf. It was the least he could do. Worst yet, she'd had a suit sent to the apartment for him to wear. Drake had only spent the last hundred years as a human and never, had he seen an outfit like this one, let alone how to wear it. He had planned to simply show up in jeans and a tee-shirt. After all, he wasn't gracing Kgosi's presence with his own. Their first meeting in the diner instantly set Drake's fur on end. He didn't like the Original and he didn't like his plan on "peace" for the city. He'd spent too long planning his revenge and he wasn't going to have some "pussy-cat" ruin it for him. Nonetheless, the day came and he slugged on the undershirt and vest but through the jacket on the bed with a frown. This was as dressed up as he was getting. The moonstone hid perfectly under his shirt and he felt it's comforting warmth against his chest. If was also in easy reach if he needed to shift right away. Since his sister failed to show up to join him to the gala, he chose his next in line, hating the idea of asking her. After all, he didn't want her to think it was a date. So when she agreed, he found himself in an even tougher situation. He attempted to explain to her that going to the party was only to get information, to find out what this Kgosi was truly playing. Part of being a predator was learning your prey's habits and motives and he planned to do just that. However, Roxy had plans to enjoy the free alcohol and now he felt as though he was going to have to spend the night babysitting her. Exemplifying the idea that this wasn't a date, Drake had Roxy meet him at the party. He stepped out onto the curb from his taxi and wrinkled his nose. Too many unwanted scents attacking his senses. The quicker he got the information he needed, the quicker he could leave. He stuck his hands into his pockets and took the stairs a couple at a time till he walked through the front doors of the Gala. Drake wasn't surprised to see the amount of people attending. However, it swelled the anger up inside him. If there were this many groups coming together, who's to say any of them would stand aside and let his plan work. As if sensing his anger, he was bustled aside by a woman who simply oozed power and he felt the wolf within him rise up in hatred and he actually took a step forward before he caught himself. The magi woman moved off, seemingly unperturbed by his presence. There was a time and place for revenge and he needed to rein in his patience. He would get his chance. He looked over his shoulder. Where was Roxy? Roxanna Jacobs

Post by Brooke Sinclair-Knight on Apr 19, 2015 11:52:21 GMT -5
Despite her hang ups about most of her own kind, Brooke decided that just this once she’d entertain the thought of seeing other vampires‒one might just surprise her after all‒and attend the supernatural ridden party thrown by the CEO of Ivory Tower Stocks. She had taken the night off work, sent everyone home when she decided her staff might actually like to get home before midnight, and given her assistant the direction to take absolutely no work calls and told her to turn off her work phone entirely, giving her absolutely no reason to think about work at all. Tonight was a night to let loose, have fun, and let her hair down so with a dress that was maybe just a little too short for the occasion as most if not all of Brooke’s dresses were, she stepped foot into the soiree taking place in Ivory Tower Stock banquet hall. She looked around, spotting the host and CEO with a couple of other guests. She made a mental note to speak to him and commend him on his efforts to join Supernaturals and humans in one place but that would have to wait, he was busy and she needed a drink first.
She made her way further into the room, and tapped the arm of a waiter that had passed by her. “Dirty martini please.” She requested and with a nod he went to retrieve her requested drink. Brooke continued to look around, taking in the sights of all the different species all in one place with genuine happiness. Everyone seemed so well behaved and she thought that maybe, just maybe there was hope for a better future where all the species could get along. Before she could even think another thought the waiter returned with her drink which she happily accepted and took a sip of before she decided to go speak with the man of the hour. She made her way towards him and the group he was with, her hand brushed across the arm of the dark haired woman he was speaking with before she came to a halt, moving her hand away from the woman to rest on her own side. “I am very sorry to interrupt but I had to thank you, Kgosi. Bringing species together to attain peace is an amazing concept.” She said softly with a small smile.

Natàlia Rosario was really a social butterfly, and so when she heard of the Ivory Tower gala, she decided that she had to attend. The original werecat chose a mostly yellow theme for her outfit of choice. The cute yellow and black pencil dress was one of her favorites and the accessories were either every day or just included because they looked nice. She wasn't really dressing to impress just to feel comfortable and good. She left her hair down in loose curls with a large yellow rose clip. The heels were something she was wearing strictly for propriety purposes. She was likely going to end slipping them off at some point in the evening but for now she would deal with them.
Once in the banquet hall she looked around to see if she might recognize anyone. So far she didn't but that only made her giddy. She loved meeting new people and making friends. Still, she had no idea where to start off. So she made her way over to the bar and got herself a drink.

it keeps my veins hot the fire's found a home in me
Ollie was nervous. Very nervous. Probably because of the group of people gathered outside of the tower were arriving in fancy cars and were dressed to the nines. She herself had picked out her go-to little black dress and a pair of ridiculously high heels- and unlike most of the other people, she was arriving in an old muscle car- her bright red '69 Camaro. She gnawed on her bottom lip as she pulled up to the tower, leaning over her wheel and peering up at the tower that loomed overhead. Her brother had pestered her to go to the gala in his place- saying something about being unable to make it. Of course that's probably because he was too damn lazy to drive the five hundred miles it took to get there. Not that Ollie was complaining.
With a harsh little sigh, Olivia pulled up to the outside of the tower's front door, pushing open her door and nabbing her shoes off of the passenger seat. She tossed them down onto the pavement outside her car and slid her feet inside, tossing her keys to the bellboy that stood next to the curb, "Scratch her, and you'll wish you were dead, caspice?" She smiled brightly at him before proceeding inside- smoothing down the front of her dress with a small little frown forming on her face.
Once she actually made it inside the tower, Ollie was immediately assaulted with noise and so many different scents she actually felt dizzy. The sheer amount of supernaturals in the room was like an overload for the senses, and she paused next to a rather intimidating looking guy. "You look like I feel." She piped up- trying to make small talk and to possibly put the guy at ease. Maybe. Shit, he looked angry. Here's hoping that a fight didn't break out- her dress was tight like a second skin, and let's not even get started on her heels.
Pushing away her worrying thoughts, she turned her attention to the man she was standing next to- taking in his appearance. It was impossible to peg what he was with so many different scents coming from the people crowding the room. He looked a little more than pissed off- now that she was actually paying attention. And like he was looking for someone. She arched her spine- twisting to follow his line of sight briefly. "... Sorry- waitin' for someone?" template by Margie @ Adoxography v2

[nospaces] [attr="class","LDtable"] [attr="class","LDmain"] [attr="class","LDcontainer"] [attr="class","LDtriangle"] [attr="class","LDcontent"]
Roxy despised dresses. More so than she despised people in general. Having to deal with both, in her mind, was torture. The last time she was forced into a dress was at the age of 5 when her mother dolled her up for Sunday church, putting Roxy in her best Sunday clothes as if to show her off to the rest of the town. It was small enough for her mother to receive recognition for her ‘talents’ but that would end as soon as Roxy inherited her father’s sharp tongue and rebellious attitude. Because of her living situation she didn’t have any appropriate attire and was forced to ask a friend for a loan. Though her friend was happy to oblige, Roxy felt uneasy asking her for a dress she most likely will end up destroying by the end of the night. Not that Roxy had it out for her friend, she just had a tendency to attract trouble and it was inevitable she would have to end up paying for the dress later. [break][break] When asked to the party by Drake at first she thought the man was messing with her. It wasn’t until she was stepping out of the cab - sole meeting hard ground, her cream colored high heels standing out against the black pavement – did she begin to realize what was in store for her. Drake informed her this was purely business, but a small part of her wondered if there was another reason. With his sister out of town he needed a partner to keep up appearances. Why he chose her however was still something she was trying to figure out, and if it wasn’t for the free food and beer she probably would have declined. [break][break] Steadily she made her way inside, the tail of her red dress dragging along behind her. She hadn’t been here for a minute and already she felt uncomfortable. Though she had a feeling Drake was already here she wasn’t in a hurry to catch up to him, and instead of seeking him out decided to patrol the borders in search for a cold beer to settle her nerves. Roxy was anything but classy but she wasn’t a fool either. She kept to the side lines, blue eyes scanning the room for anyone familiar. It was hard to determine who was what with the array of smells and frankly she didn’t want to talk to anyone unless she had to.

He'd hoped to remain unnoticed at this party but he had no doubt his mere presence was attracting more than enough attention. Deciding standing and looking ridiculous was getting him no where, he turned to the woman who had appeared at his side. His first reaction was surprise to find another werewolf like himself but he immediately frowned. He could smell a pack on her and though he hadn't found any other packs in New York, her presence immediately put him on edge. He paused. He needed to reevaluate that. He was no longer a wolf. It was his wolf that was on edge on another pack encroaching on his territory. He smiled, attempting to bring out the human side of him his sister had been bringing out for the last few years. "Not one for dressing up and playing human?" he asked her with a light chuckle, accepting a glass of sparkling yellow liquid and frowning at it. It was clearly alcoholic by the smell but he wasn't looking overly fond of drinking it. Instead, he set it back down on another waiter's tray, wiping his hands on his pants as though the glass itself had been toxic. He wasn't here to drink which immediately reminded him of Roxy who had all intentions of taking advantage of the free drinks. His eyes immediately left the woman at his side, glared at Kgosi among the guests and finally spotted Roxy edging along the side of the room, her dress so red he was surprised a herd of bulls wasn't following behind her. She caught his attention again as she came into his peripherals seeking out what he was looking for. Deciding it might be better to let Roxy be unknown for awhile, he turned with his back to Roxy, blocking her view from the woman. "Thought I saw someone I know." he said absently. In this position, he was able to lean his back against a railing and appear casual, even if the storm in chest was making him uncomfortable. There were too many Magi here and he could feel his wolf pacing the outer edges of his control. All he would have to do is pull the moonstone off and he'd have them in his teeth, ripping them to shreds. He smirked at the thought. Kgosi wanted peace? He'd have to see red first. He wasn't here to make peace and he certainly wasn't going to sit back and play obedient citizen. He wanted to see this room in chaos. For now, he turned his attention back to the woman. "You're a long way from home." he said absently, noting her pack's scent. He'd certainly never smelled it before. "What brings you to New York?" -- Olivia Caine & Roxanna Jacobs

it keeps my veins hot the fire's found a home in me
Olivia tipped her head to the side and openly eyed the man standing next to her, taking in how uncomfortable he seemed- and the frown that spread across his face. "See, I can get over the playing human thing- it's the dressing up thing that I don't like." She squirmed in place and smoothed down the front of her dress. It was obvious that her presence had set the guy on edge- and she herself could feel the more... wild part of her tensing in anticipation, as if waiting for him to make his move. She really didn't like that.
Out of habit, Ollie turned and looked around again, shaking her head at the waiter when offered a glass of champagne. "I also can't help but feel under-dressed. But what can you do when you pretty much live out of the back-seat of your car?" She shrugged and forced a smile on her face, trying to play off just how unnerved the man was making her. She continued to look around- as if trying to find whoever he had thought he had seen.
"Someone you know, hey? Lucky- I'm probably the only one from my pack that's in town. Haven't seen anyone I know and I can't pick up any scents. It's all jumbled up from the sheer amount of supernaturals clouding the place." She flapped a hand in front of her face, her expression twisting in annoyance. At this point, she figured that dropping hints and being honest with the guy would help- mostly because she was a terrible liar and it would probably only succeed in pissing him off.
"And yeah- I'm few hours away from home. My brother was too much of a lazy-ass to drive over here and come himself- so I'm here repping the pack, I guess. And because I want to know what's going on. I've been sort of out of the loop." She turned to face him again, clasping her hands in front of her and tipping her head to peer at him again, a wry grin spreading across her face. "I'm Olivia Caine, by the way. Nice to meet you, Mister...?" She extended a hand to him, still smiling.
As she stood closer to him, she managed to catch a whiff of the man's scent- tensing as she realized that he was also a werewolf. Shit. And knowing her luck, the guy was probably part of the pack that was taking up residence in New York. Slight panic bubbled up inside her- though through sheer force of will Ollie tamped it down and forced herself to keep calm and to keep smiling. She could make it through this- easy-peasy. It wasn't like she was here to start something with other packs- though it really sucked because she knew that she'd have to behave. God damn she hated being Beta at times.
