It was Savitars day off. So he decided to take Tessa out, just the two of them. Nothing big and nothing serious, he chose the Bronx Zoo to keep a casual theme. For the outing, he wore his usually casual ensemble: jeans and a t-shirt - this time a dark, navy blue. His outfit reflected his current mood well - casual and comfortable.
He drove them to the zoo early and they spent hours going through the exhibits. When lunch rolled around, he brought her to the restuarant inside the zoo. He ordered them their food and got them a table outside. It was a beautiful August day. It was hot but not lethal. The light breeze made certain of that. He sat down and looked at his friend.

It was a good day. Tessa was always happy when she and Sav both had the day off so they could actually spend the whole day together not just the evenings. Today was no different, and she hummed to herself happily as sh got ready, putting on a pair of denim shorts and a brightly colored shirt. She pulled her hair back into a messy pony tail and scampered out of her home, happy to let Sav drive her to the Bronx Zoo. From there she spend forever slipping through the exhibits laughing and joking with her best friend, her eyes shining. So it was a simple day, that didn't matter to her. It was perfect and she wouldn't have it any other way. She could be walking thought a park or down the streets of Manhattan for all she cared, she just was happy to be spending it with Sav. 'So how are you liking this? Not too childish I hope.'Tess laughed freely at that as they sat down for lunch shaking hr head before taking a bite. "Oh not to worry Sav," she chuckled. "This is absolutely perfect. I'm enjoying the zoo very much actually. Thanks for bringing me here Sav." She smiled brightly and took another bite of her food. "I hope you are enjoying the zoo as well." She leaned into the table, propping her elbows up her brown eyes watching him, though if she had to guess from their day so far, she'd hazard a guess that he was having as good a time as she was. Sav smiled as she told him how much she was enjoying herself. It wasn't the words she was saying that he was paying attention to. It was the way she said them. The way she smiled at him and the way her eyes glistened and danced. Yeah that was how he knew she wasn't just saying any of it to spare his feelings. No, she meant every single word and then some. Sav had every right to be proud of himself. He always enjoyed brightening her day. Sometimes it was harder than others. Luckily the hardest was behind them both.
"Good," he laughed and then raised an eyebrow at her. "I didn't do this for me, Tess. I did this for you. Personally, I think zoos are barbaric. I mean, these animals are wild. They shouldn't be stuck here. Don't you think?" A standing ovation for you. template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0 |

Tess scrunched up her nose in thought and looked back in the direction of all the exhibits. Hmm... Yeah Sav was right, but she would fully admit she still loved the zoo. "It is cruel isn't it? They are beautiful and they have this power to them, and that is sort of just wasted sitting here in cages." She sighed and shook her head. "But I guess, I'll just have to admit even though it's not the nicest, I'm actually fond of zoos. I like seeing a the animals... But I don't think I'd want to see them in the wild. Much more dangerous, and I'm pretty sure it's definitely not as fun if you get caught and they get aggressive."
She watched Sav and offered a playful smile. She wasn't always the safest person, so she was sure he would agree she should be staying away from any wild animals not in captivity. She sometimes had enough trouble with people, she didn't think she needed to add angry wild animals to her list of issues. But she was happy that since she moved away from her childhood home she had been much happier, she didn't have her family being ridiculous towards her or anything and she got to enjoy days with Sav all the time now, and spend time with him far more often than she had when they were living in Illinois. And Sav's live was much better too, so moving to New York had been the best thing for both of them. And putting up with barbaric zoos were worth it in her mind, even if he wasn't enjoying it quite as much as she was.

Honestly, the very thought of the glass not being there to separate the dangerous creatures from Tess terrified him. With that in mind, he was glad the animals were safely locked up out of reach. He couldn't even imagine a world without Tess in it. He wouldn't survive it. He knew without a doubt he wouldn't survive in such a world. She was his rock and always had been. He wouldn't change that for anything.

"Tigers!" she practically giggled. "They were asleep earlier, so I didn't get to see them. Maybe now they'll be up!" She scarfed down the last bit of her lunch then she jumped up to throw away their trash before she grabbed Sav's hand and tugged him along, clearly thrilled with the prospect of possibly seeing the tigers. She couldn't help it though. She liked seeing every animal, but the big cats had this grace to them and this power that she admired, and not getting to see all of them and stare made her feel like she was getting ripped off. So off to the tigers she went!
When they got there she squealed in delight seeing a few tigers up and walking around their enclosure. She watched them, and then she looked over at Sav and grinned. "You have to admit, it's pretty cool seeing them up close." She saw one walking close and she sat on a little ledge by the glass and she leaned in as the tiger stalked closer and paced against the glass. She smiled watching, but she couldn't help think about what Sav said about this being barbaric, but she still thought being this close to an animal like this was cool, though she wasn't about to trade the glass for anything. She didn't want to become their lunch after all.

Sav laughed at her enthusiasm and let her pull him off to the tiger pen. He couldn't help but find amusement in this all as he watched her watching the tigers with so much delight. Neither of them had much of a childhood so Sav was always happy when he could get her to let loose a little. Honestly, it was the closest he would ever get to it himself. Sav was just too serious, too much of realist. He could never truly relax, but he enjoyed watching Tess do so. It made everything all the more worth it.
"Okay, they're pretty cool," he finally admitted.
Honestly, they were. It was cool that they could get this close to animals that would likely eat them in the wild. She had a point. They were beautiful creatures and did deserve to be admired in some capacity. As much as he felt sorry for them, he couldn't help but be happy that they actually got to see them up close.

'Okay, they're pretty cool.'
She smirked victoriously and looked at him for a second before he turned her attention back at the prowling tiger. "Told you," she replied, her tone matching her victorious smirk. So she agreed it was mean, but she was going to enjoy being right about how cool they were. Because Sav was a genius, and he brought up all these amazing points that she generally didn't have a counter for, except for a pout and agreeing he was right, though she generally didn't mind it. Usually it was her crying about some sort of tech thing she was totally lost on and he had to help her and then she ended up being totally wrong on what was wrong in the first place. Oops. But hey she was right on this. Just then the tiger pulled her from her thoughts but looking at her and roaring. She grinned and made a pathetic attempt at roaring back, sounding more like a young Simba than a full grown tiger. But it was fun.
'What time is it?'
"Huh?" Tess asked, pulling her focus away from the large cat, who was moving away from her, though she doubted it was because the feline was intimidated by her pathetic growl. "Oh! Yeah it's abouuuuut...." She broke off, pulling her phone out of her purse and she smiled with a nod. "One forty-five!" She nodded matter of factly and then looked back at her best friend, dropping her phone back into her purse. "I don't have any other exhibits I want to see, so if you wanna go hit the city and stuff I'm totally cool with that." She jumped up and smiled at him, waiting on him now.

Savitar smiled as he watched her. If asking those who knew him, they would say that Sav was reserved and they would claim he probably never cracked a smile a day in his life. It would have been true to some extent. Sav knew how to smile and he had smiled many times. It was simply the fact that very few could succeed in getting him relaxed enough to wear such even the mocking version of that expression. He still didn't give them real smiles. No, Tess was the only exception. She was the only person that could wriggle the genuine thing out of him.
"I don't have any other exhibits I want to see, so if you wanna go hit the city and stuff I'm totally cool with that."
"There is just one more thing I want to show you," he said.
He took her hand in his and without explanation led her into a building. He left her only long enough to speak to a zookeeper. After a moment, he returned to her so they could follow the man. A standing ovation for you. template by Sammy @ Adox 2.0 |

'There is just one more thing I want to show you.'
Tess nodded happily at that and giggled a bit when her grabbed her hand and pulled her to a building without explaining at all about what he wanted to show her. This was pretty cool, but she wasn't sure exactly what was going on. She looked around, but didn't notice anything special. She was totally excited though. It was sometimes hard to tell what Sav was up to, but she liked that. It kept her on her toes, waiting for another surprise. She looked back at Sav, excitement in her eyes, about to ask him what it was he was planning on showing her, but then he pulled away and left her standing there. She pouted a bit and let out a playful huff, though she followed his every movement trying to figure it out before he told her or showed her. She wasn't having much luck though.
He came back after a moment, with a zookeeper and she perked up instantly, rather excited by this. "What are you planning Savitar?" she asked almost teasingly. It was obvious she was excited and intrigued she was just poking at him. She smiled and she looked around the room again. "I'm guessing whatever it is, it's not in here. It doesn't seem to be anyway. Don't leave me in the dark though. That would be totally unfair of you."

Savitar smirked but remained silent the entire time. He had a feeling she would absolutely enjoy the surprise. At least he hoped so because he spent weeks planning this.
"I'm guessing whatever it is, it's not in here. It doesn't seem to be anyway. Don't leave me in the dark though. That would be totally unfair of you."
"I'm not telling you, Tess," he laughed. "You're just going to have to wait and see."
He followed the zoo keeper into another room. In that room there was a baby panda with it's handler. Sav smiled. It had taken him quite some doing to get them back there. He certainly hoped Tess would like this part. He really did.

She pouted and huffed. "Sav!" she whined. "That's so unfair!" She sighed and scampered after the zookeeper, who she was sure was laughing at her pouting. Ah well. She went with him and she nudged Sav with her hip and stuck out her tongue. She was certainly excited and the suspense was killing her. She loved it when Sav surprised her, but sometimes he was so mean about it and tormented her with all the possibilities. She followed into the room the zookeeper stopped in and she stopped cold, her eyes wide. That was a baby panda! And it was so cute!!
'I may have pulled some strings so you could get a little up close and personal with at least one animal.'
She turned and threw her arms around Sav, grinning brightly. "Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!" she squealed in one breath, nuzzling into his chest. "You are best! I don't know hoe you manage these things, but you are absolutely amazing!" So he pouted before because he wouldn't tell her, but it was always worth the wait. Baby panda case and point. But she couldn't help it. She didn't like waiting even if she never failed to deem it worth the wait by the end of it. She looked up at him and then she slid over to the handler and the panda and she got down on on her knees to pet the small, fuzzy creature. "Aww it's so soft! May I hold it?" The handler nodded and Tess scooped the panda into her arms and snuggled it against her chest, drinking up every moment of it. She looked up at Sav and smiled at him for a moment before her attention went back to the little thing in her arms. She was startled when the handler held her a bottle but she took it with a small thank you and she started feeding it letting out another soft squeal of delight at how amazingly adorable this was.

Savitar watched and listened to her complaints. Honestly, life wasn't fair but he wasn't life. She would forgive him. And she did forgive him. Soon as the baby panda was brought out to them, he could see it in her eyes and not just the forgiveness. No, he saw her eyes light up with such joy. That was all he wanted. In their childhood, happy moments were either a rare gift or a pipe dream. He loved changing that for her nowadays. He liked watching her face light up. He didn't expect her to attack him though. Granted it was a pleasant attack and not a violent one but still. Smiling as she hugged and nuzzled into his chest, he hugged her back and laughed as squealed in his ear.
"Yeah I better be the best," he teased. "This cost an arm."
Not really. He did pay for it but he did have some killer hacking abilities and didn't have to pay at all. He chose to, and it was worth it. He fell silent and chose to stay back to watch Tess play with the panda. He enjoyed seeing her happy, and he really doubted that would ever change. He certainly didn't want it to.
