Romulus stood across the street from the Las Vegas Police department. He sometimes did this for hours on end just standing or sitting watching the cops go by he missed it terribly being a cop sure it wasn't his first career choice. He had planned to take over his father's restaurant when he retired, but with his parents dead and the building burned to the ground it wasn't possible any longer. He'd had ulterior motives for joining the police force, but that didn't mean he enjoyed it any less chasing down criminals hunting them actually and bringing them to justice. He also liked being a part of something having comrades in arms people to watch his back and vice versa. the Messor was a poor substitute it was nothing, but a bunch of solo artists, but beggars can't be choosers he supposed besides it paid his bills and kept him fed and clothed so it wasn't all bad he supposed. He let the newspaper he was reading slip a little just to get a better view of the cops. This was also a source of entertainment for him he made up stories about the various cops he'd see in a day's time just from what he could see and his detective instincts. There was one a rather stocky looking fellow with a crew cut and a beard. "He's in his late 20's just got out of the....military? He was wounded in action if I had to take a shot I'd say gun shot wound to the right leg above the knee." He said taking a moment to piece together the rest. "Hasn't been on the force for more than five years or so. He's probably a bit of a hard ass at first definitely a by the book kind of guy." He said smiling to himself looking to the door to see the next cop to walk out a woman this time. "Hmmm women are always more difficult to pin down one of the reasons I hated interrogating a woman they were so slippery and could lie without the slightest hesitation especially the older ones dannazione!!" He spoke reverting to his native Italian in the heat of the moment.

Gina was almost enjoying herself. Almost was the keyword there. She was having a difficult time deciding what to do. The Ambassador of Vegas, she was usually a very busy woman but today she had wanted to do some shopping. The holidays were coming around and she was considering throwing yet another extravagant event for the residents and tourists of her beloved city. A voice stopped her in her tracks however.
"Hmmm women are always more difficult to pin down one of the reasons I hated interrogating a woman they were so slippery and could lie without the slightest hesitation especially the older ones dannazione!!"
She looked at the man who spoke with amusement. He was either eccentric or an outright nutcase. Part of her was curious to see which one it was. The more cynical, dominant part of her had already decided he was insane. And of course, she had absolutely no filter. She didn't give a damn who she offended most days. Why would she? She was a queen only under one and Kaia was the only person on the planet she would never piss off.
"You know talking to yourself is usually the first sign of madness," she said from behind him. "Also, it's rude to assume we're all lying bitches just because we have tits and a pretty smile. We're much more dangerous when we're actually telling the truth."
And of course the vampire wasn't lying. She verbally couldn't lie. Most of the time that didn't bother her. She always preferred the truth. Lies were messy and really not fun at at all. She raked a gaze over the were and then glanced over to the police station before looking back at the man.
"Besides, men lie just the same as women," she said, walking over to him to whisper in his ear. "I should know. I do run Vegas for a reason. So tell me, why is a man like you stalking the police station?"

Romulus was too busy thinking about the cop woman in question to notice the scent of the vampire female until she spoke to him. He looked around and smiled hoping to defuse the situation somewhat. "So I am told, but speaking aloud helps me to think. It's a long engraved habit and it's far too late to go changing it now." He said as she spoke of not all women lying. "You pose a fair point, and it's not that I assume all women to be liars, but in my experience women are better at it than men." He said looking her folding the newspaper under his arm. "Tell me has a man ever gotten away with lying to you?" He asked before extending his hand to the woman. "Romulus Lupercus." he said only to have her advance on him to whisper in his ear. He looked at her and rubbed his chin as he backed up. "I can hear just fine Madame." He said loosening his collar. "Ahh the infamous Gina Pryor I've heard of you in the arena." He said looking her over. She was the vampire who ran everything in the city of Sin. If he was still working the beat he wouldn't peg her for such a powerful figure, but here she was. He cleared his throat. "I'm not stalking anyone or anything let alone a police station. I just want to see how these officers work. I was a cop once you see." He said looking at the police station fondly as memories of his comrades ran through his mind's eye.

Gina's good mood didn't falter as he spoke. If she were honest, and she always was, the wolf amused her greatly. Frankly, it was refreshing and it seemed he was being honest with her. That was something she could respect. He didn't even know her outside her reputation and he wasn't trying to placate or test her authority. She raised an eyebrow at his question of whether a man ever got away with lying to her.
"I'm really good at getting people to tell me the truth so no, not really," she said. "When it matters, I always get the truth."
She didn't brother to elaborate any further than that. There really was no point. Most people didn't believe her when she claimed to be her own personal lie detector, literally. She didn't feel like proving it. She eyed his hand before politely shaking it before letting him have his personal space back.
"Was a cop?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "What made you change?"

There was no reason to try and infuriate her or insult her he was a man of honor. She had done him no harm in fact she had helped him though not personally mind you, but fighting in her arenas had got him the money he'd needed for day to day life and well if not for those arena fights the Messor would have never noticed his skills. "Well then you have skill that would make any interrogator proud." He said simply as he started to walk hoping she would follow. it was obvious he'd struck her interest so there was no reason to hang around the police station any longer. She had a firm grip that was obvious, but the strength was kept well in check no doubt learned over years of practice. He'd nearly broke a man's hand once he hadn't known his own strength it was something he had to learn on top of the mountain of other practices he had to keep. He looked at her as she asked why he changed. He gauged whether it was safe to tell her or not then shrugged what could it hurt. "I no longer saw myself fit for the job is all. How can I enforce man's laws when I am no longer a part of man's world?" He asked her but the question was mostly directed at himself. "I see cops everyday handling everyday problems writing tickets busting drug dealers, and yet no one of those offenders is as much of a danger as I am. It would be hypocritical of me to stay a cop knowing I would be putting my fellow officers in the cage with a raging beast such as myself." He said looking back fervently at the cop station. "And yet I miss it more than I ever thought I could."

Her power to make everyone tell her the truth when she touched them and willed it certainly would make her valuable to any and every individual to interrogator should they ever learn of her gift. It wasn't entirely all that it was cracked up to be. It came with one hell of a price, and that was that she herself couldn't speak a lie.
"I suppose it depends on if you consider yourself a part of man's world or not," she said. "Technically, I would think you would. With your anatomy anyway. If you mean the human world, that would be different, wouldn't it?"
She herself had never separated herself from the humans. Some were stronger than one would think. It made life just that much more interesting. Granted she also liked to play with them. It just depended on her mood.
"You know if you miss it, do something that gives you the things you miss," she said. "I mean, there are supernatural factions everywhere. Certainly, some version of a policing something. Although I'm not familiar with were factions. If there isn't one, you could always make one."

He smiled at her innocent jibe, but she had a point. "I would suppose I am a part of man's world as far the human world that I'm not so sure about." He said as he continued to walk with her. he didn't know why he was spilling his guts to this woman he'd just met not even Dash or Myra knew how he felt about not being a cop. Romulus had willingly chosen to distance himself from humanity he didn't want them getting hurt the way his father had. he'd fallen in love with a werewolf woman and had been killed for it who's to say what would happen to the human he got involved with. He looked at her suggestion and frowned in thought. "You know for a time I had. Your arenas helped me out for awhile still do sometimes, but taking out my aggression in the ring only helped for so long." The messor helped as well and he was starting to like it more and more, though he wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. It did give him the sense of justice. Who was kidding he didn't miss being a cop so much as he missed being human or well thinking he was human. "Well this conversation has taken a down right depressing turn. My apologies signora." he said placing his hand on his chest. "Would you like to accompany me for a drink it's the least I could do after unloading all my problems on you. I'm sure a lady as powerful as yourself already has a plate full of issues to worry about." Still the thought of creating his own faction did get his wheels turning.

Gina was aware not everyone could balance on the tightrope between the human and supernatural worlds. When their world was exposed that tightrope shifted. For some it stilled and made life easier. For other's the winds began blowing making things more difficult for them to walk. Some it didn't change at all. Some had never gotten up on the rope anyway. It all depended on the person and the situation they called their life. Gina knew that and she didn't judge others. She may pity them on her own time, but she never judged them, even though her ability made maneuvering in both worlds almost easy. Well once she learned how to get around her minor handicap. Seriously, the inability to lie could be a tad annoying in certain situation.
"They aren't for everyone or for life," she said with a shrug. "Honestly, I never understood the pleasure in pommeling someone just to make you feel better."
Now, Gina understood the benefits of inflicting pain but only to an extent. She always had a specific reason to hurt someone and it was almost always the need to make and prove her point. Sometimes it was in self-defense but usually those one's just ended up dead. Seldom was it that she would leave a threat to herself alive.
"Drinks sound great," she said with a smile. [/bockquote][/bockquote]

"True." He said but he could help but feel a grin cross his face. "I don't suppose you would." he said remembering several of his fights laying his enemy low with brutal blows one after another destroying the person before you. There was a thrill to it watching someone fall before your ferocity. He could feel his heart pounding just thinking about as a deep growl formed in his chest. He shook his head trying to calm himself down. He might have to visit the arena again. He didn't want to. He'd promised himself he wouldn't got back after he got to together with Myra, but still. Romulus nodded at that. "Good I know a good bar not to far from here. He often visited the bar after "Stalking" the police station as Gina so fondly put it. He grabbed the handle of the door opening it for Gina and soon followed her inside. He took a seat at the bar. "Rom haven't seen you around for a while shall I get you the usual?" The bar keep asked taking a look at Gina. "Finalmente avete trovato una donna?" The barkeep asked with a shocked smile. "Sono scioccato, sempre pensato che fosse un po 'di un solitario. Ora ti vedo con una bellezza come lei." Romulus shook his head. "It's nothing like that my friend I assure you and yes the usual for me. What about you Ms. Pryor?"
Translation: Finally you have found a woman. Translation: I am shocked, always thought you were a bit 'of a loner. Now I see you with a beauty like her.

Gina let him lead the way in total silence and stayed quiet when they entered the bar. She looked around with mild interest until she was addressed. As she was about to answer, however, a bartender spoke to Romulus. She feigned ignorance as she listened to what the man said. Well now, this was a turn. She was learning a lot about this new acquaintance and she couldn't complain. He was quite entertaining.
"I'll have an Espresso Martini," she told the bartender once their conversation ended.

Romulus shook his head. "You're being rude to my guest." He said speaking English and turning to Gina. "Please excuse my friend I taught him Italian and now whenever he sees me he thinks it's ok to speak it no matter who he's offended." He said hoping she didn't take too much offense he liked Frank, and would hate to hear he was found out in the desert with his body completely drained of blood. He shook his head getting that horrific image out of his mind. "You put to me an interesting prospect Ms. Pryor or is Mrs?" he asked not wanting to jump to conclusions. "You said that I should make a sect of my own now as you know I was once a cop so I know the ends and outs of such things, so I can't help, but wonder why you would put such a radical idea to me unless there was room for such expansion." He said as a glass of Baldini was poured for him. He waited until Frank was helping other guest before continuing with his conversation. "I don't mean to accuse you of anything Ms. Pryor, but I'm not inclined to believe that you would do all this without getting something in return." He said taking a gulp of his beer.

“Ms.” she said. “And I didn't do anything. I simply stated my perspective.”
It was the truth. She didn't know him well enough to do anything more than that. Her opinion was simply that, an opinion. She didn't see the problem in stating a clinical observation. Still policing factions she had a problem with. Factions made to over her throw her was much different. She took a sip of her martini once it was set down in front of her and listened as she decided how to respond to her.
“I don't care if you make a faction for yourself or not,” she said. “So long as a faction's goal isn't meant to unseat me, I could care less about them. Policing factions help keep unsavory characters in check, which makes running the city easier for me. That's really the only benefit I could possibly get from one. I'm not telling you to do anything. I just felt the need to point out that if you miss doing something enough to stand outside a building like vagrant, maybe you should keep doing it. Doing what you love should never be an issue because of obstacles that you can cross through modification. “

Well he could tell she was a no nonsense kind of person she didn't barter words and didn't stand for her statements to be perceived as anything other than what they were. He rubbed his chin that was as straight as straight could get if that had been a bullet he would be dead, but it was best to make things clear. He took another draft of his beer thinking about what she had said since he had first met her this morning she'd offered some serious insight into his situation. "I appreciate your candor Ms. Pryor you have given me a lot to think about." He said as he drained his beer setting some money down on the counter to ay for their drinks. "I must say you are quite the interesting person Ms. Pryor maybe our paths will cross again." He said to her as he stood up straightening his coat. He needed to take a walk he did his best thinking when he was walking kept his blood flowing and his mind moving. Like they say an unoccupied mind is the devil's playground. He gave a slight bow to the lady as he left. He walked down the street. He thought about going and talking to Myra about this, but no that wouldn't do, but a thought came to him there was one person who was the same rain or shine that he could talk to about this and get a completely unbiased opinion...mostly and that man was Dash Storm.

Gina simply finished her martini and nodded at his words. She wasn't complaining about the possibility of seeing him around in the future. He was rather interesting for a dog. That much was certain.
“I'm not a difficult woman to run into, Mr. Lupercus,” she said. “So we probably will run into each other again. Until then, I do hope you find the balance you are looking for. Thank you again for the drink and the company. It has been a while.”
She stood up herself as he turned to walk out as well, pulling her cell phone out and calling her assistant in the process.
