A line of gold separated the Earth and sky underneath an array of purples, reds, and pinks. Stars were beginning to lose their shine as the once pitch black sky lightened. Chanting and cursing filled the air like the smoke and embers from the man made fires situated in a circle around them. Among the dozens of people surrounding a tall pole held upright into the ground stood a young woman scared for her life and pleading as if it was the only language she knew. Her words went unheeded as they continued and only grew more intense with time. The chains clanked against one another as the woman struggled to break free but to no end. ”Please! I beg of thee. Set me free and I shall never return again!” she cried out in Greek, sincerity in her words but they weren’t enough. When the first ray of sunshine broke through the trees and grazed against her arm, as if fire itself, burned her skin to the point of blistering. This was it. Once again she was doomed to die before her time and there was no choice but to accept it. With each ray of sunshine came another screamed only to be replaced with another. Her screams filled the sky like a banshee’s cry; birds scattered to flee from what they perceived to be danger.
Amongst the dying woman’s tortured screams the sky became cluttered with no just her torment, but now the torment of those standing around. Her cry for death was no longer alone, but was now accompanied with the cries of those responsible for hers. Her vision had already blackened moments ago so she wasn’t able to see or understand what was going on besides her own demise. With just moments to spare before the once beautiful woman became nothing more than a statue of coal and fire, crumbling at the very touch, she felt the cold metal around her wrists release its grip and instantly fell from the lack of strength. Instead of hitting the dry, hard ground her landed was soft and warm. Still unable to see, move, or speak all she could do was lie there and allow for whatever to transpire next happen. Though saved from death the after effects proved to be worse than death itself and now the woman couldn’t wish for it to come any sooner. She could feel her fragile body jolt as it was being moved. The cool breeze against her burning skin gave away their location and she bathed in the shade of the tree that sheltered them. ”It’s okay Ambrosia. Drink.” A low toned voice hummed in her ears and before she could think she felt a sweet, warm liquid hit her charred lips. She moaned as it glided down her throat, soothing the dry feeling from the burn. She wanted to reach up but the feeling in her arms hadn’t come back yet. ”Oliver! Hurry up! They’re coming!” a distant voice shouted with aggression.
With a sudden jolt Kaia shot up from her slumber and grasped her chest as if afraid her heart could bust out if she didn’t. The feeling of panic consumed her, the deaths of countless vampires happening all at once and her pain from them pulling her out of a dead sleep. It was a feeling that would soon pass but at the moment she felt like it was going to last forever. Throwing the covers off of her she crawled out of bed and stumbled to her feet. She only made it half way when her legs grew numb from the pain, giving out on her and forcing her to her knees. On her way she attempted to stop her fall by grabbing onto the nearest object but all she could reach in that split second was a vase, and just as she fell to the ground so did the vase, shattering into tiny pieces. Broken porcelain didn’t faze her though as she sat on the floor with her hand to her chest. Red liquid began to create streaks down her cheeks and as much as she tried to fight them she couldn’t stop. Writhing in pain she mentally cried out for the feeling to go away but nothing she did worked.

As Andrei had mentioned, things did begin to get easier. There was still a lot of water under the bridge that was the relationship between he and Kaia but there were also a lot of things that had been cleared away, too. The truth behind his father, though not all of it, had helped ease the tension they had felt between each other. Nykolae understood, to an extent, why she kept him around, even if it wasn't all of it, but that didn't mean he liked it. She still didn't allow him fresh human blood which had diminished his strength but the bottles that were regularly supplied in the fridge were enough to suffice. He'd managed to fill the rest of his hunger by eating human food, no thanks to Alex who had gotten him to eat a cheeseburger not more than a month ago. Since then, he'd found that it was a quick and easy fix to sooth his ever craving hunger. And all he had to do was order something from the staff that kept up with her penthouse. He even managed to be able to sleep at night and it wasn't for lack of trying. His room was up to date on all the luxuries money could buy and he found himself becoming spoiled with them. Even his bed was the most comfortable thing he'd ever laid his head down on. But since the fateful day he'd been forced into Kaia's services, he'd been unable to sleep at night. Most of it was anger, while the other part was fear. But lately, his lack of proper blood had made him tired and he was able to close his eyes at night and sleep.
Of course, tonight would be the exception. He'd wandered from his room, yawning as he ran his hand through his hair. He'd come to the conclusion that if dumb and dumber weren't standing guard outside his room, then Kaia must be home. Tonight was just such a night and he had a rather peaceful walk to the kitchen where he opened the fridge and grabbed a bottle of blood. He was in the middle of downing it when he heard the crash. He acted instinctively, dropping the bottle and leaving the fridge open, he pelted back towards the hallway. However, when he got there, he froze. Kaia was on the floor and she certainly wasn't up to her standards. Normally, she was calm and collected around him, a true Queen. But, there on the floor, she appeared like any other woman. Nykolae even noticed she had bright red streaks down her face as if she was crying.
Every part of his being screamed for him to leave her there to whatever misery she'd put herself through but something in the back of his mind won him over and he felt himself moving forward and bending down to her. He gently grabbed her shoulders and tried to help her sit up. "Whoa there!" he said, green eyes full of concern as he tried to meet her gaze. "What's going on? Are you okay?" Since the blood connection he'd experienced with her had only been temporary, he had no way of knowing what was wrong. He assumed since dumb and dumber weren't thrashing about the penthouse with the looks of killer bees, that she wasn't being attacked but this certainly wasn't like Kaia. She had always done a marvelous job of keeping her emotions in check, not that he hadn't tried to rouse her since their first meeting when she'd sort of lost control. He wasn't good with these type of things. Any time a woman had gotten emotional around him, he'd either kicked them out or left. It always aroused a part of him that he didn't like to be. His human side was caring and sensitive but his vampire side was cold and uncaring. Sometimes, he almost envied vampires and their ability to shut off their emotions. Having human emotions only seemed to complicate things.
Almost as soon as he spoke to Kaia, he regretted his decision to help her. He immediately felt awkward and quickly took his hands from her shoulders as he looked around. "Want me to get your guards?" Was that really all he could say to her? He silently cursed himself. He hated these kind of situations. Why were women's emotions so damn fragile! Sure, since the truth of her and his father had come to light, things had eased between them in a way he couldn't explain but this was past that particular level they were on. This was a step ahead and they hadn't crossed the bridges to this yet. There was still so much unsaid between them.

Consumed with dread and pain Kaia wasn’t aware that she was no longer alone. It wasn’t until her shoulders became warm –the same kind of warmth she perceived in her dream before being woken up - did she realize someone was here, allowing him to move her. Broken out of her trance she looked at him but didn’t see him. The severed connection, though fading, was still strong and having been broken from a dream-like trance the only face she saw was the face in her dream. A growing hunger built up inside of her with a force she couldn’t contain long enough to get to a refrigerator. She needed blood to ease the pain and she needed it now. With predatory eyes, unaware of her actions, she lunged forward and pinned him to the ground, hovering over him before biting into his neck.
Just as she had thought the blood was already starting to make her feel better, though it did not calm her down it lessened the physical pain she was enduring and, without intent, was replace with pleasure. If it wasn’t for her previous state of delirium Kaia would have never attacked Nykolae without reason and most certainly wouldn’t do it for pleasure, but the distressed Original surprised herself by finding his body beneath hers to be…exhilarating? And felt somewhat familiar. Still under the assumption the man under her was Oliver and not Nykolae a moan escaped her lips as she fed, her grip from his shoulders sliding down to rest on his chest with nails dug deep. She wouldn’t drain him though and even in her current state wouldn’t leave him feeling weak. She did however find it hard to pull away but before he could feel weak she managed to do so but remained close, the smell of blood too enticing to pull away completely.

This was completely unexpected. Mostly because the women he'd ever approached, he'd been the one to attack. Her sudden ravenous intentions certainly gave him the shock that allowed her to overtake him, his back hitting the floor quicker then he could blink. And never had he felt fear when being with a women. The last time she'd attacked him came rushing back like a tsunami and he felt his heart beat speed up, rushing adrenaline into his limbs, preparing himself to fight back. She'd very nearly killed him the last time between drinking his blood and inflicting wounds. He was already low on blood himself from not feeding and he wasn't up to his usual strength. There was a brief moment when she hovered above him and her predatory eyes looked straight through him, as though she were seeing something else, proving to Nykolae that this certainly wasn't Kaia at all.
But he wasn't given any more time to wonder. With lightening reflexes, she bent and bit into his neck. A rush of euphoria overtook him, causing him to gasp. His neck blazed in pain at her needle sharp teeth but just as quickly, was replaced with a feeling of pleasure that only intensified when her body began to react differently towards him. A moan of pleasure vibrated against his neck and she moved her hands from a predator stance to that of someone who wanted more from him. He would hate himself later, he was sure but he couldn't ignore the signs or his own feelings. His own hunger kicking in from being drank from, he allowed himself to react back to her and as soon as she released his neck, he raised himself slightly and, with one hand, brought her neck down towards him where he quickly released his own fangs and sank them deep into her neck. Her emotions flooded into him like a drug and he let out another moan of pleasure. He worked off of her feelings of being exhilarated, using them to his advantage. He could feel his strength returning and he was suddenly watching himself from the sidelines, as though his human side split off from his vampire side. He let go of her neck, eyes blazing with a red ring and a trickle of blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. He reached both hands up to her face, moving the hair from her face. He was breathing heavily, his heart beating frantically. He was flooded with emotions he couldn't understand; both his and hers and the overwhelming result was to become closer to her. It was her pain that hurt him the most. He could feel it, bringing forth memories of his own loss of his father's blood connection. It was a time in his life he couldn't remember much of. He'd gone on a drinking binge to erase the memory or, at least, lessen the pain and to finally feel Kaia's own pain and loss broke something in Nykolae and instead of going for her neck once more, he connected with her lips, slow at first and then more demanding, not even caring that he could taste his own blood on her lips.

As she fed from him his pleasure suddenly became her own. She could feel every ounce of euphoria from both his blood as well as the intense feelings he was harboring while biting him. It was both intoxicating and addicted and for a moment Kaia wanted more. But when she felt the sting of fangs pierce into her neck her body tensed and with content her eyes closed, her body giving into him completely. Kaia had never truly found pleasure in being bitten, having preferred to do the biting herself, but when the tables turned she couldn’t deny the fact, that for the first time, she wanted to be controlled. An emptiness created long ago was pleaded to be filled, whether it be temporary with physical activity or on a more intimate level she didn’t care and no amount of pride could keep her from filling it in any way she could.
When he broke free she looked into his eyes and, now with his blood in her system and her pain gone, she saw him for who he really was. It wasn’t her beloved Oliver and yet the similarities were infinite, only adding wood to the fire that now burned inside her. Though she now was aware of her actions something inside her kept her there, face to face with only an inch of air separating them. The warmth from his hands didn’t distract her from their gaze and in fact made her ideas even more inviting. Maybe that was why she didn’t force herself off of him as she clearly knew she should do. With their emotions intertwined once again it was difficult to differentiate between them, though the moment the air between their lips had became non-existent she didn’t have time to really try. The kiss at first took her by surprise, but not because of its initial occurrence but because she never expected it to feel so good, ignoring the taste of her own blood on his lips. With a burning hunger to feel the warm embrace of her lover she gave into their combined mixture of emotions and adrenaline, wrapping her hand around the back of his neck and lifted him up into a sitting position. Their lips remained interlocked, the intensity behind it increasing with each passing second. While one remained on the back of his neck, her fingers lightly brushing against his hairline, the other snaked down his back, only shortening the distance between their bodies until they were touching. In a moment of weakness she pushed aside any past confrontation with Nykolae and basked in the pleasure he was giving her as if she wanted nothing else but to submit to it.

He'd never felt such heat of passion. Mostly because the women he'd been with had never truly committed to the moment, or he for that matter. Their intimate interaction was on a much deeper level then Nykolae had ever been on and was surprised that with each kiss, with each tender touch, the hole in his soul from where his father's connection had been severed, was slowly filling, and not temporarily. Was she what he had been searching for to fill his emptiness? It seemed she had had a bit of emptiness herself and by her own response to him, deeply wished to fill it as well. He didn't take into consideration that her actions might have been spawned because he looked like his father. He was far past caring at this point. When she pulled him up into sitting position, their kisses growing deeper and their bodies fitting together, he fully committed to what they were doing. It was the way she held him, the way she kissed him, that told him she truly wanted him and that was the most important to Nykolae; to feel needed.
He didn't wait for her permission. He reached around her sides, fingers brushing the smooth skin of her waist before he pulled her shirt up, hoping to remove it completely, to feel her skin against his own. He moved his kisses from her mouth to make a line down her neck, her collar bone and eventually, bit into her shoulder, letting her blood fill his senses. He kept his hands on her hips, holding her against him. He could feel her holding back, allowing him control and excitement flooded through him. Since he come under her control, she had done just that; controlled him. Kaia struck him as someone who had to control every aspect of her life to remain happy and didn't much like surprises. The fact that he could completely change who she was by a single touch excited him and with a single motion, hoisted her up so she had her back against the cool floor. He didn't give her time to catch her breath. He was above her, chest touching hers as he kissed her again. Covered in each other's blood and immersed in the heat of the moment, Nykolae came to a realization; he wanted to be her plaything.

Kaia never believed she would ever find the pleasure she had felt with his father ever again but with Nykolae’s tender touch nostalgia struck her hard. Though the resemblance was uncanny Kaia could tell the difference between Nykolae and his father, and though she hated to admit it, she craved the hybrids touch more than she ever had with Olivier. The fulfillment he gave her was nothing she had expected and it only excited her senses more. Her arms lifted without hesitation as she felt her silk night gown lift up, the cool air piercing her exposed skin but the feeling was short lived as the warmth from his body radiated off of him, warming her own ice cold touch. Their passion was surreal, but exhilarating. The feeling of satisfaction weighed heavier than her desire for control and with each passing second didn’t regret giving it up to him at all. Every ounce of her being was filled with a burning sensation that intensified with each kiss that made its way down her neck. She didn’t even mind the small sting on her shoulder as the pain wasn’t enough to overpower the pleasure. When she felt her back hit the cold floor her legs hugged his sides and her fingers combed through his hair, tugging lightly in a playful nature. Kaia could already begin to feel herself become lost in the moment, tuning out everything else around them and focusing on their interactions in greater detail. With him now on top the realization that, for once, she was no longer in control struck her but his quickened heart beat and rising blood pressure reminded her just how much control she still had over him. Slowly, one hand crept down his shoulder and wrapped around to rest on his back, her hand pressed firmly against his skin to keep him as close to her as possible while the other reached out and grabbed the nearest thing she could get her hand on. In unison to her hands a foot attempted to slide his pants down from around his waist with little to no effort. The nails dug into both his back and the bed sheets clenched within her other hand was a result of her impatience as well as her undeniable need to end the torture that was foreplay and move forward to something a bit deeper.
A FEW HOURS LATER
Kaia lay on her side on the floor in the same spot she had fallen hours earlier, though by the clear signs of damage around the room it was certain they didn’t remain there the entire night. The sheet she had unintentionally pulled down now snaked around her, covering up most of her blood stained body with the exception of her feet and upper body. Though asleep she was conscious enough to feel the presence of someone close by and was comforted by it. The feeling of being needed for more than her blood, status, or money warmed her soul and filled the black void created long ago. If even for only a moment Kaia enjoyed the simple pleasures of being with someone without the need to hide behind masks of deception. At this point she didn’t even care if their mutual resentment faded entirely. Like a content baby put to sleep after feeding time she remained still with her resting head on his exposed chest and her hand rested gently in the center, the rhythm of his heart beat her lullaby that kept her soothed and relaxed.

He hadn't wanted to fall asleep. In fact, when they finally collapsed onto their backs, breathing heavily, he had every intention of getting a shower. But it was the way she immediately rolled over and brought him into her embrace that he felt it unnecessary to move. Against his burning skin, her icy touch was soothing and as his heart beat slowed, he found himself falling asleep. It was probably the best night's sleep he'd ever had. His whole life, he'd always slept with one eye open, so to speak. He was always on edge and ready to sit up and move if he needed to. Never had he felt so protected and safe. With her fresh blood thrumming through his veins, he fell asleep with her gentle satisfaction warming him.
With dawn, however, he woke with a jolt, sitting straight up, hair mused and eyes wide. It took him a whole few seconds till he turned his head and looked down at her. She was only half covered and her pale skin was smeared with blood. Nykolae could see several puncture marks on her porcelain skin and he followed the tangle of the sheet as it wrapped around his own naked waist. It took a whole few more seconds till he put the pieces together of what exactly had happened. Surprisingly, he didn't feel disturbed. In fact, he felt a warmth spread through him and he smiled down at her, green eyes shining with life.
"Well, hello there." His voice was cool and low, almost like a sexy growl. He leaned down and gave her a quick kiss before leaning down on his elbow. "This is quite the meeting place so early in the morning." There were so many things he wanted to ask her, starting with the most important, what had happened to her the night before to the feelings he was getting from her, feelings he also felt. Only a few hours ago, he had still felt a strong dislike towards her and now these feelings he felt were on the opposite side of the spectrum.

The jolt of his body lifting didn’t disturb her in the slightest; in fact she slowly slid off of him and rolled onto her back. Her eyes slowly opened only to shut close again from the bright light. She wasn’t used to waking up with the sunlight directly on her face but when she managed to open her eyes just enough to see she saw the curtains that were usually closed shut were torn down from the side, allowing plenty of light to seep through the windows. While her eyes adjusted to the light she felt the gentle touch of his kiss and without thinking returned it intently. ”This isn't the weirdest place I've woken up unfortunately. I see you’re still breathing. I suppose you can handle me.” she said with a grin. She was greeted by pools of green that truthfully she could easily get lost in and intentionally fought the burning glare in her eyes just to look into them until she shifted her head to the side so his head was blocking the light. The almost loving look on his face warmed her soul but deep down her insecurities about love broke through the wall of comfort, bringing for doubt and hesitance with it to plague her mind. As strongly as she felt for him the fear of letting someone get too close was imminent and so, playing it off as if their blood transfer was the only source of these new feelings, she shielded off her emotions from both herself and because of the link him as well.
As if to reach out and touch the green pools she raised her hand to his face and brushed the back of it against his warm cheek before sliding it down his neck and finally to his chest. A thought then occurred and her eyes darted down to his bloodied neck. ”Where is your father’s locket?” She asked with a hint of worry present in her voice. ”Promise me you’ll wear it always. Never take it off. Do you promise?” Her eyes piercing his were a clear indication of the seriousness behind her demand. Even if they hadn’t just spent the night together his safety was important to her, though she now hoped because of it he would willfully listen. She had to admit, however, that she wouldn’t have even considered a relationship outside the master/slave spectrum with the young hybrid if it wasn’t for his father but it wasn’t that fact alone that kept her there on the cold floor beside him or caused the worry in her eyes. Whether he liked it or not everything she did for him from this point forward was meant to be for the best, and if he didn’t agree, she still wasn’t afraid to use a bit of compulsion if necessary. The desire to keep him in her life was undeniable as now, after almost a month, she had became used to his presence. Life as it was now seemed natural to her, as if it had always been this way and the thought of even a small part of it changing scared the woman of habit. If something happened to him she didn’t know what she would do and if it was anything like his father’s death she didn’t know if she could bounce back again after that.

During their wild night, they had become as one, in more ways than one. Nykolae had been intimately in-tune with her every feelings, making their final moments all the more glorifying. In fact, practically being inside her body had become so natural for Nykolae by morning, that when she abruptly cut herself off from him, he felt as though someone had dropped a bucket of cold water over his head. However, it only changed his emotions, not the expressions on his face. He continued to give her a mischievous smile but it quickly faded when she brought up the locket. There was worry in her voice and Nykolae immediately misunderstood her feelings, thinking she wanted to pretend he was his father. It all came rushing back then, her strange behavior when he'd found her the night before and the distant look in her face as though she hadn't really seen him. He felt anger rise up inside him like a volcano and surprised himself with feeling jealous. How could he possibly believe she wanted him when she had been so clearly wrecked over his father's death.
He wrenched himself out of her grasp and stood up, letting the blanket fall from his waist as he grabbed his clothes. He chose not to say anything, letting his anger boil around inside him, forgetting that she would be able to feel and understand every ounce of his anger and jealousy. Slipping his pants back on around his waist, he turned his back towards her as he headed for the bathroom. "I'm going to get a shower." Only about a month ago, he'd been exhilarated to know something about his father, something he'd been trying to do for five hundred years but now, this moment in particular, he regretted learning any of it, especially the part where he and Kaia had had a past. It was just like Kaia said, he'd been a cold an inconsiderate man and Nykolae was beginning to see the signs even from beyond the grave.

Even though she cut off a small portion of her emotions to him she felt a wave of jealousy consume her and by the sudden mood change knew it wasn't her emotions changing, but his. Jealousy pierced her chest like knives cutting into her skin. When he coldly pulled from her grasp she felt some of the anger building up to be her own, feeling sensitive to his dismisal of her. As an original it wasnt common for kaia to be on the spintered end of the stick, always being in control of her emotions as well as whatever lover was current. But the feeling of not being in control mixed with his anger was overwhelming and unexpected but instead of lashing out she remained still as she watched him walk into the bathroom. It wouldn't take her but a few more seconds to realize that his jealousy was aimed towards her and Oliver's relationship and suddenly it all made sense. When he was out of sight she stood up and walked over to her night stand. Pulling out a cigarette from the drawer and lit it up with the match beside it. While inhaling the harsh smoke she reflected on last night. She could clearly see why he had misunderstood and by not knowing the true purpose of the locket it was easy to assume. That didn't explain his sudden dismisal when the locket was mentioned she figured it had to do with their previous relationship.
As he was distracted she took the time to look for the locket. It didn't take her long to find it as it lazily sit on his night stand, as if left there since the day she gave it to him. His emotions had been so real and intense when she gave it to him but now she wondered just how much he actually cared about his father and really how much of an impact she was making on the boy. By the time he was shutting the water off she was standing in the bathroom doorway with her the silk nightgown and robe already on and the locket concealed in the palm of her hand. "It's a waste to keep you all to myself," Her eyes wandered over him curiously. "You have so much to give." She grinned as she made his way over to him, keeping the locket out of his line of sight. "I didn't know I could hit a nerve without even biting you. You're not really jealous of a man who's been dead for over 400 years, are you?" She had hoped this wasn't the case and suddenly felt a wave of deja vu hit her as if something similar to this had happened to her before.

He took his time in the shower. Wasn't necessarily that he needed. Hell, he'd had worse things on him than blood, but it was more for the thought process that everyone seemed to gain when under the hot water and steam. Not to mention, it gave him a chance to calm down. If everything Kaia had done had truly been because she craved his father, would she not have been bat shit crazy when she'd woken up? He doubted he would have been standing there at the moment otherwise. This single thought alone was enough to still the jealousy he was feeling. His anger, however, switched from anger at his father and Kaia to himself. He was so stupid for overreacting. Damn human emotions! They got in the way of other things! He should have been treating Kaia like a Queen, not coldly turning his back on her for something so damn petty!
When the water no longer ran brown with old blood, Nykolae switched the water off and grabbed a towel, musing his hair first before he wrapped it around his waist. It was at that particular moment, the door opened and like an ancient Goddess, Kaia appeared in the doorway, her night gown catching every curve and shape of her body. He was immediately glad to see she hadn't reverted to her closed off self because of his actions. In fact, she hardly seemed to care. He watched the way her hungry eyes wandered over him and he immediately felt a hunger for her. He smirked at her as she approached him. "Normally I don't allow myself to be owned by one single person." he told her. "But it seems as though you've forced me into your slavery and I really have no choice." He hadn't meant for the comment to be vindictive. In fact, now that they'd crossed a few more bridges and got to understand each other, he felt the idea rather...exciting.
When she brought up his anger and jealousy, his smirk faded and he felt guilty. "Last night... What happened?" he asked her, meeting her eyes with his own.

"I was having a nightmare when I was suddenly woken up. A large coven of vampires died last night, and I felt every single one of their deaths....all at once. Something of that size hasn't happened to me since the first century. It was too much to bear in such a sudden way. You caught me when i wasnt in the right frame of mind and in a moment of weakness I attacked you, at the time it wasn't intentional." she paused, becoming hesitant on saying more but she found it hard to stop herself while he stood there with nothing but a cloth covering him. "But I'm glad i did." Her grin was replaced with a genuine smile.
She deliberately avoided the part where she believed him to be oliver, feeling the moment was too brief for it to matter. Before last night if you had told her she would be spending the night incased in his embrace and happily so she would have laughed in your face. But to her surprise, come morning, the thought didnt seem so far fetched. It just so happened that the striking resemblance to his father triggered old feelings locked away inside her and their eventful evening was the result of those feelings exploding. Nykolae, however similiar to his father, also held many differences and one of them was the reason kaia pursued their physical interaction even after coming to her senses and was why, unlike his father, she wanted to protect him instead of kill him.
Opening up to someone she still knew so little about was foreign to her. She didnt understand why she felt so comfortable telling him any of this. Maybe it was his blood coursing through her veins that made her feel as if she was talking to a mirror instead of another person, the thought surprisingly easing her nervousness enough to open up. Confiding in him as well as remenesing about the events last night brought forth mixed feelings she couldnt hide even from herself. In most cases when kaia became overwhelmed by her emotions she simply shut them off, viewing them as a crutch, a weakness, but this time she faced them head on and surprised herself when she realized she wasnt tempted to flip the switch. Instead she felt a small weight lift off her shoulders, as if letting it out was a breath of fresh air and she could only feel better for it. Unfortunately for her its charm only went so far and the Original was left both exhilerated and confused at the same time.

"Sir, are you okay? Do I need to fetch a doctor?" Nykolae barely heard the man. He was laying exactly where he'd fallen, knees pulled up to his chest and fists clenching the ground beneath him. He coughed, splattering more blood onto the already soaked ground. The man gave a weird sound and quickly backed away, back down the road, his horse stirring up more dust as he disappeared. But Nykolae didn't care. He'd never felt pain like this before. He'd been stabbed, drained and beaten up but this, this was something different. It was as though his very soul was being stripped from his body, piece by piece. Another flash of pain radiated through his body and he found himself screaming out in pain. At first, the initial pain had confused him. It felt as though his heart had been ripped from his very body and he collapsed onto the ground like a stone but it didn't take long for him to realize just what had been taken from him. The blood connection that tied him to his father was gone, leaving him utterly empty. It had been something he'd constantly been aware of as a child and to suddenly have it gone... Nykolae felt tears slide down his cheeks and he didn't know if it was from pain or from actual sadness. His father was dead and he was left alone. He managed to lift himself to his knees and he screamed his anger and hatred to the world.
Nykolae froze as the memory washed over him and the phantom memory pounded away at his own heart. He had thought he'd suppressed that memory but here it was, overcoming him like blood hunger. If he had felt utterly destroyed with only one death, he couldn't imagine what she had gone through feeling the death of each Coven member. Not understanding his own emotions from hers, he acted without thinking and reached his arms out, gently touching her face, his green eyes getting lost in her own. His body was mere inches from hers, teasing her. The steam in the room had made small droplets of water on her hair and, for the first time, Nykolae could see just how beautiful Kaia was, especially when she laid bare her emotions. He was, perhaps, the first person to witness her naked emotions. He didn't even care at that moment that he was her slave or that she might not care for him the way he suddenly did but all he knew was that he suddenly wanted to be the one to make her smile. "I can't even begin to imagine the pain you would have gone through but I just want you to know that when I bound myself to you, I meant what I said. I am yours until you release me. I'll be yours until you've had enough of me..." he leaned forward and gently brought his lips to hers. It wasn't the passionate kiss they'd encountered just that night but one filled with raw emotions and sincerity. It was hard for Nykolae to wrap his head around the idea that only a few days ago, he had been lying in bed hating his life and Kaia and now here he was, pledging to always be there for her when she needed it. Had he truly been that alone that he'd seek comfort and companionship with the most dangerous? He hadn't thought his father's death had destroyed him that much.

She didn’t know exactly what triggered his sudden rapid heartbeat but she could only assume it might have had something to do with the fact their emotions were one in the same, at least for the time being, and he could feel every bit of grief and anger as she did about the loss. Not being in complete control of her emotions was not something Kaia felt comfortable with and neither was she used to sharing them with someone else, though she would come to realize she could use this to her advantage and planned to do so accordingly. If she was to get what she wanted out of him without a fight, now would be the time and if worst came to worst, she’d just compel him to forget their night ever happened and force him to wear the locket. Though the thought tormented her on the inside as a woman of little morals she didn’t give the consequences much thought, but hoped he would take the smarter route and play along to save her the hassle and heartbreak.
The kiss wasn’t as intense as the one before but it was intoxicating nonetheless. She didn’t have enough time to process his words before her train of thought was disrupted by the soft touch of his lips. Without hesitation she leaned into the kiss, giving him the same tenderness as he was giving her. When she reluctantly pulled away she stepped back and brought her hand holding the locket up to eye level before dropping the locket and dangled it in front of his face. His words brought comfort to her, knowing that she had him in her grasp completely and the fact force wasn’t involved gave the Original hope for their future. The question was, were his new claim of submission enough to give her a different response about the locket than last time? Only one way to find out.
”I know it seems crazy of me to ask but please, wear it for me. I promise to let the leash loose as long as this is around your neck.” She looked at him with hopeful eyes, attempting to play at his heartstrings in order to finally get what she wanted. ”Can I trust you to do this one thing for me?”
